I had this pizza place marked in my Yelp collections and while I was in the Hartford area, I decided to make a pit stop here. The place is small but has a couple of seating areas. I ordered a half Cheese and half Bacon to go. When my pizza was ready, one of the staff brought my pizza outside as I was waiting.
I headed back to my car and put the pizza right on the hood my car and the opened the pizza up. I like to eat my pizza right out oven. That's when you definitely can figure out if you have a good pizza. The pizza looked delicious. The pizza definitely was crispy, nice flavor to the sauce, and had plenty of toppings. The crust is my favorite part of the pizza and the crust was very delicious. Bro's Dough is a solid pizza place and it says something if I ate a whole small pizza to myself. Don't judge me. Lol.Helpful 47Thanks 8Love this 43Oh no 0 - Feb 10, 2022
Happy Black History Month! You need Super Bowl pizza. You know who has the thin crust goods you always say you want? Bro's Dough Pizzeria. When I Yelp-searched "Black Owned Restaurants" for Hartford, my number 1 search result was Bro's Dough on New Britain Ave in Hartford. I already knew the neighborhood because my Peruvian jam Piolin is right there. Bro's Dough seems like more of a takeout place. They also deliver through my go to delivery service DoorDash.
I ordered the tasty Cool Chick (essentially, a Chicken Bacon Ranch) and the Plain Jane. Both smalls. Loved the combo of red sauce and grated cheese on the Plain Jane. The crust on both pizzas was thin and crispy, almost St. Louis style thin and crispy. I suspect their large would be a bit chewier. They also have wings, other apps, sandwiches and other stuff. Definitely check out Bro's Dough.

Awesome pizza we tried recently through GrubHub. Have heard good things so finally ordered one night when we couldn't decide what we wanted. So glad we picked Bro's Dough! We ordered two small pies: Hot Roney and Cool Chick. The Cool Chick was easily my favorite (which is surprising for me) it was covered in ranch and I loved that the chicken was shredded and not cubed. Probably would have been good with hot sauce too! These were thin crust pies and really crispy. Definitely will order from here again!

This is my local pizza place and I couldn't be happier with it. The crusts are perfect -- I love thin crust and nothing else. The cheese to sauce ratio is also perfection, so when my boring kids want just a plain cheese pizza, I'm not disappointed in leftovers. But despite the pie perfection, my favorite thing here is not even a pizza. It's a pressed sandwich, and specifically the buffalo chicken pressed sandwich. That's basically a pizza sandwich. I don't know how else to describe it -- they use what I assume is the exact same dough, fill it with delicious finely chopped chicken in a buffalo sauce, toss in some cheese and diced tomatoes, and then press it to be a gooey, amazing thin sandwich-pizza creation. It's also gigantic, comes in two pieces, so it's sully two meals unless my husband steals the other half. I've also tried their Cubano pressed sandwich, which is almost as tasty. And then of course if the great food wasn't enough, the owners are from Hartford, it's a black owned business, and they donate so much of their time and pizza to community events it's ridiculous. I've had Bro's Dough pizzas at school events, community meetings, Love Hartford block parties, Hartford Decides info sessions. I'm sure sometimes that's not completely free to the events, but I know it is for many. This is a very local business that has great food and is part of the community, and it deserves the accolades it gets.

3 stars means "A-ok". Here's the deal, I recently learned of a sandwich that originated in NYC, called the chopped cheese. Then I learned that Bro's Dough has one on their menu and I became slightly obsessed with trying one. My wife has a bit of a pizza addiction. She orders her favorite pizza about weekly, using the Slice app, and this results in the occasional free pizza. The beauty of this app is when you get to the free pizza, you can get that pizza from anywhere else that uses Slice...and that brings me to my Saturday afternoon delivery order from Bro's.
We used our large free pizza and added peppers, onions and mushrooms (so the free pizza really only cost us a couple of bucks for the toppings), score!! Thin crust, kind of a sweet tomato sauce and just a pretty good pizza! It was quite large too!!
Onto the chopped cheese sandwich. Here's how it's described on the menu: Ground beef, onions, pickles, cheddar & mozzarella cheese, chipotle aioli. That's exactly what it tasted like and it was freakin' good. Now you won't feel all healthy when you eat this but you will love it. You could eat this sandwich for lunch or dinner but it would be epic late-night drunk food for sure.
I would definitely try more pizza, calzones and sandwiches from this joint.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Feb 1, 2022Updated review
Still very solid pizza joint. I order from them at least once a month. My favorite menu item is hands down the stuffed bread!

It's a black owned business, which makes this place even more special!! Looking forward to ordering from here again!

I always love to support non-corporate businesses, but this restaurant is the reason why I support corporate regulated restaurants. When I went in, no one was wearing masks and the food was being prepared without gloves or any regulatory rules. The front clerk just handed me my food and just continued to stare at his phone. No personality that you would expect at a local joint. Okay.
I ordered the plain Jane pizza. I personally called and asked if it comes with fresh basil as it claims. My wife wanted to make sure. We all know how that goes fellas. The employee on the phone said yes. I also ordered a chopped cheese since we just moved from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. We were looking for something reminiscent of New York.
Unfortunately, this place does not live up to any expectations. The service was terrible. The menu descriptions are inaccurate and the food is unsatisfactory. Sorry, it's just a big no for me.

I decided to try this black owned pizza spot I had been hearing about on Facebook for a few years. I was in the area one day for work so decided to place an order. I order a plain cheese. Delicious! They are now on my top 3 list of pizza spots in CT.

Came to Bro's Dough pizza from another foodie recommendation and let me tell you. I was not disappointed.
Super friendly staff and accommodating. They were updating their menu so their was a price difference when ringing me up. He corrected it without any issue until their new menus comes in.
I had their gut buster pie. It was freaking delicious, even down to the crust and it was super loaded with bacon, sausage, pepperoni, cheeseburger and more. Thin style pizza but very filling. I'm 6'7", 270lbs. I only ordered a small pie for me and it was more than enough for two meals. I also got a small French fries because it's my cheat day. :-) so good.
Will definitely be back next time I'm up in the area.
Service, quality and quantity. Checked all my boxes today. Thank you guys.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Sri Rajasekhar P.Fremont, CA250Feb 14, 2023
