Mike Steele Project Manager came to our home to evaluate our situation. Early into the inspection he found the problem . It is a structural issue not a concrete issue. He was very honest with us which was appreciated. He continued the inpection to say the rest of the basement is fine. I told him that his knowledgeable assesment had already earned my trust and if this repair could have been handled by them he would have left with check in hand.
Thank you for your help Mike.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicholas C.Central Manchester, CT371815Dec 31, 2020
I had a few different companies come out and assess what was going on with our home/basement. We wanted a new sump pump put in and a basement door floor drain. Ultimately I went with BudgetDry based on the solid Reviews and total cost.
- No consideration or analysis was given as to where the sump pump discharge line should actually go. Right now, it is going about 20 feet straight out to our backyard (where it slopes back down towards the house/foundation), and all the water just pumps up on top of the yard slowly coming back towards our hatchway door/foundation. The discharge line does not properly slope enough so it's constantly full & water keeps spewing out of the freeze relief pipe when it goes off, which is right next to the foundation. Water is also leaking out through the connection points where the freeze relief pipe is, right next to the foundation. The sump pump has been running every couple minutes for ~3 weeks now, because it's just recycling all the water it is pumping out. It is also a complete swamp in our backyard around where all the water is discharging.
- Their website says they have water flow specialists and exterior drainage solutions, etc. - https://budgetdry.com/waterproofing/exterior-drainage/ - When I addressed my concerns of these discharge/drainage issues, their only solution was to consult a landscaping company to regrade our yard. Can't the discharge line be re-piped out further in a different direction, or better yet, re-piped so it goes out to the side of our house where it actually slopes down away from our house? Wish this was originally brought up as a potential issue...
I now have to pay more money to have these issues fixed...
- The cementing job for the door floor drain and pump is awful and cement bits were left all over the floor when done. (see pics in review)
- When the additional backup pump was installed, luckily I quickly noticed there was a leak coming from the pressure release valve. I was able to call them in time for the technician to come back and fix it. I appreciate that, & get that 'these things can happen', but shouldn't it be fully checked to ensure there are no leaks anywhere before you leave?
Anyways, overall it was just a disappointing & frustrating experience and wish I had spent my thousands of dollars with a different company that would have done things right and with better quality.
Only reason for 2 stars is because their Customer Service (receptionists) were kind and the communication back & forth was good. Unfortunately everything else wasn't.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Holly R.Armonk, NY1232Jul 14, 2021Updated review
They have since given us back most of the deposit. I left a review earlier when we had not received our deposit back.
I just want to add that they have returned most of the deposit and I cancelled the jobHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Jun 8, 2021Previous reviewNo stars
We called this company to install a basement system in an older leaking basement. They sent a salesman out quickly. Once we signed the contract he insisted on a 1500 deposit. We signed and gave the deposit. He said the office would call with the install dates. The next day the office called and scheduled us out OVER 3 MONtTHS OUT. We called and said this is not acceptable The very day day we called to cancel they said We can start In 2 days. We had already found a new company to do the project the same week. THEY KEPT OUR Full DEPOSIT when we cancelled the work. They were also much more expensive.
DO NOT SIGN until you have a start date and be aware they will not return your deposit.
We hired a different local co who came out the same week and finished in 1 day.
I will provide new co name upon request. This new company deserves 5 stars. - Ruth C.Meriden, CT376Jun 1, 2020
The crew that came in to do the waterproofing was friendly and professional. I have not had any problems with water in my basement since they were here. They also found a few other issues I had with my HW heater leaking and another leak nearby. They protected my floor and did their best to contain the cement dust using protective sheeting. They cleaned up the broken clay pipe they replaced as well as the protective sheeting. they even swept the floor on the main level.
The tech who installed the insulation and new dehumidifier in the basement was also friendly and professional. He also clean up afterwards. However, there are a couple of spots where he did not put insulation and I do have some threads of insulation hanging off the ceiling where it needs to be pushed farther up into the beams. I did not notice these things until a few days after he left.
All in all, I recommend them. Just make sure to thoroughly check the work and make sure you are happy with it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa E.Watertown, CT061Jul 1, 2021
A sales rep came to give me an estimate to replace bilco doors. After taking measurements and detailing what needed to be done, he said he couldn't give me an estimate immediately and would email me it within an hour. Its now been several days and no word from this company about an estimate. Bring ghosted before an estimate is even given is not a good sign for a company's reliability or customer service!

This company is by far one of the worst I have ever had to deal with. They installed a drainage system and a new sum pump in my basement, left a mess and walked away and never finish to install the outside drain. Took him to court and won . The judge awarded me the $570 in damage(unfinished work) and $105.40 in fees for a total of $675.40 They sent me a check with only $570. I guess they chose not to pay the filing fees. I will take them to court again. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with them.

The only reason I am giving ONE star is because I have to in order to review.
Beware of this company. They will do their best to up-sell even if the suggested units are not ideal for your space.
We dealt with Marc. His demeanor was condescending and borderline inappropriate. When asked about the possibility of exchanging a unit we had for less than 24 hours, he crassly compared it to selling used panties.
They also charged for services they did not complete. It took several conversations to get the charges refunded.
Rants and raves about being in the business for 20 years do not take the place of doing GOOD business.
***UPDATE! The business replied below. They NEVER replaced the unit. So either they are lying or this is so common, they can't keep track...Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

When we came to your home, we shared both brochures for both dehumidifier models, with pictures dimensions. We made recommendations based on our-experience for its location. After the installation, you changed your mind on the model and its location. Rather than say no, we sent a tech out at a minimal charge considering your home is 3 hours round trip from our office and we had to provide 90 minutes of labor between loading and then installing the new unit and packaging and unloading the swapped out unit. The minimal service charge doesn't nearly cover our expense and we gave you a break on the service call price. Now that you wish to make another change, I'm sorry, but we do have to charge. Again, it isn't an amount that we profit off of considering all that is involved but makes us closer to whole.
I'm sorry for the wait time - however, this is peak dehumidifier season and supplies are limited and at the time, all of our units were sold - but I have we did not lie or deceive about the sizes, noises or options. We selected the initial location not because it was the easiest option for us, but because it was the best location for your needs. We have reservations that your new choice of model and installation location will not work as effectively as what we had proposed but we have gone out of our way (quite literally with 9 hours of drive time) to make you happy. Furthermore, because of the risk of cross contamination, we had to eat the cost of your old unit as we wouldn't dare install a dehumidifier in someone else's house after it was used and risk the chance of spreading a different mold. There's a reason returns are not accepted in our industry. - Mike C.SC, SC010Jun 13, 2021
tDON'T reason I say that is SIMPLE we started offer with warranty for year's like life time on drain but MFG warranty on PUMP. Then I had simple REQUEST " HAVE YOU EMPLOYEES WEAR A BELT OR ROPE TO KEEP UP THERE PANT'S reason wife is here my daughter, and my granddaughter and there no need for them seeing someone butt crack. BUDGETDRY WOULD NOT HONOR MY REQUEST. SALES and I came up with two separate planes costing less if only doing part of basement then another cost for entire basement. NOW THEY WOULD NOT AND REFUSED SAYING I NEED TWO DIFFERENT AREA SUMB PUMP WHICH WASN'T NEED AT ALL IT WAS A COST SAVING SALE'S MAN AND I AGREED TO. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT HIRING THIS COMPANY YOU WILL BE SORRY tell you one thing and when he left total change no more warranty because I wouldn't submit to his proposal and there cost is higher. then he said it is a family own and run business which they sub contract out the work.
DON'T DO IT and he said you the buyer get's three days to cancel DOES NOT HONOR ! ! if you sign on Thursday or Friday come Monday it to late three day's have gone by. Plus you have to send it in US MAIL which is three to five days and they still will not honor it.
GOOD LUCK but KEEP YOUR MONEY AND GET THE BEST COMPANY AROUND BUT NOT BUDGETDRYHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - C C.New Haven, CT04Nov 25, 2018
Budget Dry's price was more than double 2 other estimates I had received and Marc didn't take that well when I told him. Blaming it on uninsured workers when he didn't even know who the quotes were from. As another reviewer had stated, he was very condescending. I would NEVER call Marc back to my home again, he is a bad representation for any company.

I agree with the other reviewers. I would give them no stars if I could.
Mark -- the manager? -- very insincere and not nice at all. Besides waterproofing, they installed new windows in my basement. Little did I know they left a 3" gap the width of the window to the outside. The dropped ceiling covered it up until I had an electrician in the house and he pulled down one of the ceiling panels. When I called Budget Dry, Mark responded and came to the house. I told him the rooms directly above this window (master bath) had been so cold, I had to buy a small heater. His response: it wouldn't be that cold! So for several winters, I used more heating fuel, more electricity, etc. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
