Driving through and there were quite a number of options. A classic burger sounded like a good choice. I had been on a chili dog kick, so I went with a chili cheese dog and a burger. My wife decided to go a little lighter... They offer a 1/2 burger! So she did a burger and onion rings.
I love that the hot dog is split. I usually split and griddle them at home. It lets the toppings sit a bit better. The burgers were your basic classics.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rob W.Little Rock, AR012Apr 9, 2024
Ribs were good but a little over cooked. The BBQ sauce was very good. Sides were great.
Order was to go and ready when they said it would be.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 21, 2024Updated review
Probably the best burgers in Bristol. Always cooked fresh. The sweet potato fries and onion rings are definitely worth trying.

Fun Fact: This is the last place Hank Williams was ever seen alive.
Bristol is the true birthplace of country music...so anytime we have music fans in town...we take them down to Burger Bar. No one has ever been disappointed in the food or the service. - Dooner G.Greenville, SC276Mar 9, 2024
Like stepping back in time to an old time malt & burger shop. Great burgers, the best onion rings in town, and good, friendly service.
Only down side is that parking is either on the street, or one of the several free parking lots not too far away.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elizabeth B.SoMa, San Francisco, CA064Mar 13, 2024

Stopped by the Burger Bar today based on the recommendation of a friend of ours. So happy she told us about this place!!!
It's a cute little place and I knowing that it was the last place Hank Williams Sr was seen alive (back when it was named Snack King) makes it very special.
Our waitress Amber was super sweet and the burgers were delicious.
I would definitely recommend stopping in for a good ol' burgerHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1068195Apr 28, 2023
Definitely a vintage Jewel and it's always better when the food is made to order! Peanut butter and Jelly milkshake is so awesome

Great home made burgers. Kool atmosphere with historical pictures on the walls. We had the Mormon burger and the cheese burger combo. Both were great.

My review is not for the food; it is for the unreliability of the business. The last three times I have come here they have been closed because (1) they ran out of food, (2) they had too many people out, or (3) they "had electrical issues." My problem is I can't count on them serving food; as a result, I eat at Delta Blues, Quaker Steak & Lube, or Stateline. If they are open it is a great burger; the problem is you need to determine you alternate before you plan to come here. If you are meeting someone plan elsewhere so you have a definite location.
Their burgers are great, great fries, great shakes, etc. Just unreliable! If you want reliable try Stateline or Delta Blues (check out my review for each).Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Jun 10, 2022Previous reviewSo we came here due to the reviews and my mother-in-law was leaving that day to go back. We got a Mormon Burger and The Fire God. You go to a lot of places where they say something is spicy and it really isn't; let me be clear about The Fire God - it is spicy! We ordered our Fire God at level 7 - I would suggest your first time being level 5 or below. They use Ghost Peppers and the spice both lingers and escalates with every bite. I split my burger with my son, he split the Mormon Burger with me. Both my son and I eat spicy food and we drank so much water (level 7 heat) that my son couldn't eat any more food. At level 7 eating the onion rings (fabulous!!!) actually hurt my tongue because it was so sensitive. Again, when I return (that is a WHEN) it will be level 4 for me to see if I can have spice but enjoy the entire meal.
The Mormon Burger was also really good - grilled bread and lots of flavors to it. Their onion rings are superb and the folks behind the counter are attentive, personable, and enjoyable. I will be back; this is the kind of place that can go unawares in a region but it deserves to have thousands of reviews with a DDD visit to it.
