C.J. Deans Roofing

Before CJ Deans, I'd contacted another roofer who was recommended by other neighbors. However, from pt of initial contact on 11/29/22 to 2/14/23, 78 days- I still had to meet my point guy, the one with whom I was communicating. He kept sending other workers and never came by to meet me in person, after I had requested so several times. He never even provided me with any kind of brochure so that I know how they operate and what materials they use- never signed a contract either. In fact, I had to call in my initial claim and reach out to him when he was not responding to requests from my insurance adjuster. In addition, initial pictures for my claim were taken after dusk, when streetlights were on... of course, they had to be redone.

CJ Deans was also used and recommended by other neighbors so when James popped by my door on 2/6 with a brochure, I was willing to listen. I reached out once more to my initial roofer who said that he will come by the following weekend. Weekend passed without any communication, so I reached out to James on 2/14 to finalize my claim. My husband and I met with James on 2/18 where he outlined their plan, showed us samples and had us sign a contract. James was able to pick up where the prior roofer left off and 33 days later, my roof was completely replaced. To be fair, days spent before CJ from submission of claim to communication with my insurance was 15 days and should be included for a total of 48 days. What a relief... done!

I must add that CJ Deans actually calls in your claim and then they maintain contact with your insurance. There is no need for the homeowner to be the middle man. James was also very, very responsive and always kept me in the loop. Their roofing team used ropes for safety and used pulleys to get the materials up onto my high roof. After installation, the workers cleaned up and used magnets to pick up nails around the yard.

I understand that accidents happen, especially on windy days and being high on a roof puts safety first. So my only suggestion is that the workers cover any major areas that may be damaged by falling materials. There was a minor incident which was resolved to my satisfaction. Note also that you will need to cover your landscaping before roof replacement. I had tulip bulbs which had already popped out so I had to cover them with stakes and sheeting. Overall, my husband and I are pleased with James Patterson of CJ Deans and would highly recommend them.
