Career Pro Resumes

I went to get my resume done at Career Pro based off of google reviews. As Jody was talking to me he never would look me eye to eye his head was always down looking at papers on his desk, so that upset me and I told him to look me in the eye man to man and that he was acting rude while talking to me and I didn't appreciate how he was acting. This place is a joke and very pricey he would start out $2,500 and will allow you to negotiate it down to about $1,800 please please please don't use this business to have your resume written there are plenty of other good places to get your resume done at a much cheaper price. This guy would answer the phone and if he don't like something someone is saying to him on the phone he would hang the phone up prior to saying you're not serious when you're serious call me back.

Stay away! This guy is creepy and a scammer. I went to his office, he did not ask me any questions about me or my career, and in a very heavy handed salesman pitch got me to choose a type of resume. THEN he revealed he does not take anything but cash and he walked me down to the ATM to get him cash.

He stood next to me while I tried to get cash. I thankfully could only get out $100. When I went home, I decided I wanted to back out. This was not even 15 minutes after I left his office. I asked him to refund me, he refused because he already worked on my resume. This is BS because he did not even have any information on me nor my resume!

Stay FAR AWAY.

Jody is a SCAM! Met with him and he charged me $1250 for resume package. Told me he needed more information from me prior to starting and emailed me a questionnaire for me to work on. He only accepts cash or cash app, Zelle! I paid $625 cash app. Before I left he asked if I could do 5 good reviews for him and he'd throw in more towards my resume package. I left the meeting in the office and went to my car (less than 10 mins) and called Jody and told him I changed my mind due to speaking with my parents and wanted a refund so I could take more time to see if I wanted him to work on my resume. When I asked for refund he told me no because 'he already sent the money to his writers' and told me I was wasting his time. I said I didn't want it to get to court and he said he didn't care due to his father being a judge and his brother being a lawyer and hung up on me. He never answered any of my return calls kept dismissing them with the message 'can I call you later' and when I asked for refund from cash app since no services were rendered, Jody declined the refund! Jody stole my $625 and NEVER gave me any services. I made a police report, contacted my lawyer and they already know him as 'the resume fraud' guy. I want my $625 returned and I will continue legal action for his theft of my money!

So, I'd leave less than one star if I could. Let me start by saying the reviews referencing nonstop harassment are TRUE.

I reached out to Jody Gothard, Career Pro Resumes, for a consult. When we spoke some of the red flags didn't quite stand out when I was on the initial phone call. After speaking to him, something didn't quite sound right. He asked for me to come to see him for an in person consultation, even though we're under a strict shelter in place. I agreed, hesitantly, and he asked that I brought a check with me to the consultation. He would not give me an estimate for the scope of work.

After the check comment I decided to do a little research. I went to Google and decided to check out the worst reviews for the company instead of the most recent.

My experience mirrors these reviews:

Sounds great... at first. So obviously he's a great salesman.

I ended up canceling based on needs of work.

He waited a day before incessantly calling me. Once the day passed, he called from various numbers and three days in he sent me an email that said to call him.

I answered one number because I was waiting on a food delivery, he said Hi Samantha this is Jody and I hung up and blocked the number.

My husband decided to call back. Jody got very aggressive with my husband and even called him a dipsh*t.

PLEASE, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, DO NOT REACH OUT TO THIS MAN. Read the reviews. He's not worth your time.

Note, from previous reviews I may be subject to serious harassment and threats from Jody. I do not write this review lightly.
My initial resume was underwhelming, to put it nicely. The reworked version that was "elevated to a senior writer" was even worse. It's all over the place, rushed and inaccurate. I took hours to complete a questionnaire, paid $1400 and received a product that was... so poor in quality that I was ashamed to share.
Jody is a talker. I thought it was a style but it's a way to through you off. You have to listen to what he is not telling you and that's that he is inadequate at delivering corporate level resumes which he himself admitted directly on our call. "I agree you did not get a corporate level resume". He tried to blame the rushed work on a) an employee with a special needs child being unable to complete the work b) the density of my work and work history and c) "not every writer works for the candidate". I get the last part. I do not understand why he would say such things about his employees, lacking any accountability for the time constraints he placed on these writers and then using their personal lives as an excuse. Mind you, I turned in my answers Thursday early evening and did not receive word until Monday late afternoon.
I fully agreed to pay for the writers work (an agreeable $200 for market value) yet he continues to deny any wrong doing.
I have worked in customer service based jobs for over 15 years. In my experience, I have never encountered someone such as Jody. I see over 200 reviews on google giving 4.5 stars yet between them are rare one star reviews and I can honestly say, those are the ones to read. I made a mistake when hiring Jody and team to write me a corporate level resume (or any to be honest). After the interactions and poor quality results, I looked further into Career Pro Resumes.

Just met with Jody and I do not find him to be a credible source as it relates to resume work. My first phone call with him, he insisted that I meet face-to-face and then he requested that I bring a check or some form of payment with me without discussing a price range based on my needs.

Against my better judgement, I decided to go meet with him and found that Career Pro is not listed anywhere outside of the building and once I found the suite, the company name isn't even listed on the door inside the suite. He obviously rents an office inside of a suite for business.

After he was almost 20 minutes late, he finally arrived and began pitching outdated services to me, still avoiding the price. Once I mentioned costs, he began offering complimentary services on top of his packages. I ended up cutting the meeting short as he was still attempting to push his services on me. Good luck if you go this rout.

This guy is a scram artist. I paid him $500 to revamp my resume and what he delivered looked worse than my original resume. I ended up just scrapping his resume and going back to my old one. Overall this guy just puts out a con man vibe and prays on people who are looking for help.

The most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. I canceled an appointment because I had another offer and this man continued to text me after I already for quested a cancellation.

NEGATIVE STAR!!!! Jody Gothard, President of Career Pro Resumes is a scammer.

First let me start if with my first call to the company. He answers and basically jumps into advertising himself. I asked if he could just help me with a basic resume, because I will be graduating this year. He responds yes, I've helped people get jobs for $$$$$$$. So then I ask, "what is the starting price for a basic resume?" Jody replies with another story about one of his clients. I thanked him and told him I will be in touch. He then replies just come in we can discuss prices, I can give you a discount on cover letters etc. I never asked for any of that stuff, just so you know. I reply it's ok I will be in touch. So he says "ok let's set up an appointment for next week, because I have worked with a lot of people who have moved up in positions." At this time I was ready to get off the phone because he was pushy and ignore my first question.... how much????So I went on and said yes.

The day before my appointment he text me at 7pm to confirm our meeting. I didn't pay attention to who it was and thought it was someone else I had to meet. Long story short he calls me the day of our meeting 30 minutes before to confirm. I said could you please tell me who this is again. He does; immediately I apologize thinking that he was someone else. I told him that I can't make it. He gets short and start pushing for an answer, to see if I'm coming or not. After I already said no.

I tried to say I can't..... before I could finish JODY HUNG UP ON ME!!!

Forget you JODYYYY!!!!!!

Enough said don't use him. He just wants your money.

I am so serious.

I was initially impressed with this service, but I must admit that I was wrong! Their priority is money, and not great quality work with customer satisfaction! My Resume didn't even list I was a retired Military Officer, which is what everyone is looking for! And it was written okay, but after 4 months and many referrals, I realize that there is work to be done...to be successful! It definitely won't be with Career Pro Plus! I am not impressed with their writing and their customer service is just as bad! Please Stay Away, do yourself a favor!
