Carl's Barber & Styling Shop

This is a pre-review based alone on what I got from yelp; however, I still intend to go to Carl's despite the racial slurs noted already by a customer (unfortunately, I am a crustacean member of the oppressive language, color, ethnicity, age and sex, but I want to see if I can still have the civility and ethical clarity to find the atmosphere revulsive.) Maybe Carl will list his hours here as well as keep his website active and not have it remain expired (as seen here on yelp on 4/17/2023.) I'm giving Carl's three stars (before I go there) because it seems that he is, at best (per a couple reviews on yelp) kind of scary! Hopefully the conversations there are rated-G, and that, unlike the Monty Python skit about the homicidal barber, that Carl hopefully hasn't killed anyone so far. I hope that I won't notice anybody being placed into a body bag at Carl's when I go there (yep, I really feel like going to Carl's, you know, like living dangerously (like Thelma and Louise trying to jump that canyon.)) Going to Carl's after noticing this yelp coverage might be crazy, but as the old expression goes, "It's so crazy, it just might work!" However, if I don't survive Carl's, then please leave my estate to my pet hamster, Eric. Thank you.

I've been going to Carl for years you can't find nicer people were a better cut anywhere.

Visited once. Owner spoke many racial slurs over the course of the half hour I spent there. Low quality haircut. Won't return and wouldn't recommend that anyone does.

I've been here maybe fifteen times. Decent enough hair cut, particularly by the staff.

Owner is so nosy and intrusive that he became aggravating and I stopped using them. Even when I avoided the owner, he would yap and intrude so much that he grated on my nerves. I'm not going to pay to be interrogated, especially after politely asking him to stick to cutting hair and stop the inquisition.

Disappointed with the service of the owner. He seemed friendly enough to the older people in the establishment, but barely acknowledged me or the other young man there. Then he wouldn't even cut my hair and I had to wait an extra 15 minutes for another barber. Haircut was on par with something like Super Clips or Hair Cuttery- nothing special.

Ask for Carl, you won't regret it. Great little Barber shop that has been there for decades. Very friendly staff and the owner Carl is a great guy. Still one of the only places left that uses a classic razor and warm shaving cream to trim your neck. Support local business!

Racist, homophobic, sexist, overpriced. As a visiting Northerner, I was rather floored by the behavior exhibited. The haircut and shave I got (I stuck around, for lack of options and pressed for time, against my better judgement) took forever but was admirably executed. If you must go, wear earplugs or prepare to step into 1948. I won't be patronizing this establishment again, and suggest proper, forward-thinking people look elsewhere.
