Cavin did not work in a timely manner or efficient manner. He allowed my home to sit on temp 2x4s for months, left an open sewer line for weeks and when I complained, he walked away with $14000.

This statement is incorrect. I have a copy of the permit for this project. Also, I have the breach of contract letter that was sent to this customer.
Additionally, I have witnesses including the building inspector that this customer contacted and tried to get him to fail the inspections. I also have a copy of the passed inspections for this project.
I have all the facts if anyone is interested in knowing the truth about this customer.
Finally, the balance of this customers deposit after material, subcontractor expense and labor to the date of her breach of contract was returned to her.May 26, 2021Previous reviewRUN RUN RUN

When we started our primary bathroom renovation with CavinBuilt, we were so happy with the process that we threw in our kitchen reno at the same time. From the start, our PM gave us time and attention, answered all of our questions, worked with us to add to the project and was completely responsive and reliable throughout the process. Even after our final payment, he thought of one more helpful item to optimize our kitchen faucet. The team and vendors who worked on our bathroom and kitchen were skilled and considerate. We were never pressured or rushed. As with any project, we had a few hiccups, but anything that wasn't right initially was quickly made right without hassle. I'm grateful that we found this company. The experience and the end results are better than I could have imagined. I recommend CavinBuilt without reservation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - C H.Buford, GA05Jul 1, 2020First to Review
This licensed contractor DID NOT PULL REQUIRED STATE/COUNTY PERMITS. So disappointing. Seemed most trustworthy of SEVERAL contractors we had give us a quote for our master bathroom/master closet renovation. Involved complete redesign of the space. Relocation of a wall, plumbing , additional electric installation ,window removal, tile shower installation. Meticulous /detailed design and cost estimate containing list of materials and various sub-contractor fees, was very impressive.(allowing us to actually view how the final quote was derived at) Price? right in line with those who had just spit out a number on the spot. My spouse entered into contract on March 9th (10K upfront non-negotiable = red flag) Didn't hear anything from the contractor for over a month. My spouse reached out to the guy on Day 34 of not hearing from him. (disconcerting to have to be the ones to reach out to contractor after handing over $10K) So many things have gone wrong. Very little work that has been performed was done correctly the first time and some of it is never even addressed and one is made to feel as if they are being 'unreasonable' to expect better quality workmanship for what one is paying out.The mistakes become frustrating to experience, more frustrating when it is brushed off with 'people make mistakes'. they address what THEY deem needs addressing. Not what you may consider in need of being addressed. Expect to be forced to accept what they deem 'good enough' despite the fact that you're paying for it. When things start going wrong, and ones concerns are brushed off like you're some unreasonable person who is expecting more for their money, it makes one start to ponder as to what exactly is going wrong. Why all the mistakes? Are they not 'professionals'? When I began researching ,it was difficult. I didn't even know what I was looking for. The project manager actually said to me 'please stay off the internet' when I tried to investigate 'what' had gone wrong with the laying of the wood look porcelain plank tile.I went directly to the manufacturers website. The tile wasn't properly installed. The renovation required a flex duct chase which had previously been completely sealed inside of the wall to be exposed to install a pocket door frame. We had concerns this would impact the heating and cooling abilities of our home. Reached out to HVAC company to inquire. HVAC company reply Heating and cooling ability impact?minimal. Fire hazard. Out of code. Won't pass inspection. (I had brain cells explode inside my head) NO INSPECTIONS have been done. When I informed the project manager he came back with 'what code?'. (as if I should know these things...have you ever tried to read 'building/construction code? it's literally 'brain melt' material) Reached out to Fire Marshall. Never heard a thing back. Reached out to code office (AWESOME) HVAC guys /half right. Out of code Chapter 4 Energy codes. Chase must be 'capped'. It TOOK ME hours and days of research and several phone calls to the state and local entities that deal with these type of matters to get a grasp of what this ultimately led me to discovering. No PERMITS PULLED! This sent me into a state of overwhelming stress. I've now had the pleasure of experiencing real 'panic attacks'. of which I had only previously heard about. (For anyone who suffers from these on a regular basis...I FEEL your pain! God help you!) I cannot begin to explain the numerous negative impacts of having a contractor who has performed work on your property without obtaining the proper permits. You can look that up for yourself. In short, it is a threat to your property, your life and your finances and opens you up for legal repercussions. It's unreal. Work had to be stopped. We could not allow this to continue. It took a minute to sort out the legalities and seeking out of legal advice to figure out how to 'stop the bleed' per se. Spouse eventually contacted contractor and stated no further work could be performed until permits were obtained....citing the threats it poses to us the homeowners. The contractor reacted as if we have no idea what we are talking about. (true story) About 2 weeks ago he had emailed that maybe we should 'find someone else to complete the job'. Complete it? It's probably going to have to all be torn out. He just refuses to be held accountable or accept responsibility for it. Just a couple of days ago he came back 'out of the blue' asking my husband if we were ready to proceed. What a 'mind game'. We thought he'd already 'fired' us.Spouse responded, asking contractor if he was ready to pull the permits. Contractor came back stating you can't pull permits after work has begun. Not true. There are just 'consequences' a contractor faces for doing so. He is doing everything he can to squirm out of being held accountable for his failure to pull required permits. Now placing blame upon, and trying to intimidate, us. Can't wait to see his response (take heed) Stay away.
