Food wasn't great. It was very average. Nothing wow , felt like some flavor was missing. With Douglas being a border town I had high expectations. The service was nice they checked on us every few minutes.

The thing I liked the most was my drink. It was called the Pancho Villa! Jamaica con limonada. Hibiscus tea with Lemonade.

The restaurant was small. Though it would be more spacious. Not bad.

I went to Chatitas on Monday afternoon around 5 pm. I would say overall it was just okay. I would have preferred to go somewhere else. They give you free salsa and chips at your table. I ordered the green chicken enchiladas and the order of toritos (bacon wrapped chiles with cheese). The enchiladas were okay. The sauce was good but they were missing some flavor or seasoning. It came with a side of beans and rice, the beans weren't that good but the rice was good. The toritos were good but the chiles were very small especially for costing $10 for a plate. The service was very good though, they constantly checked in on us. The outside is very beautiful, it looks like a house at first. The inside is still pretty, you seat yourself. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable, since they are pretty small. Overall I wouldn't go here again just because I know there's better mexican food in Douglas.

Authentic local Mexican food options & great service. They have terrific combo plate options & their carne asada is prepared well. If you're hungry & need to refuel, Chatitas is worth stopping in.
      Provecho!!

      Oh Chatitas,

You were the one shining beacon of hope at the end of a long day spent in the sweltering heat of Douglas, Arizona. My father-in-law, husband, and I made our way through your doors seeking to feed our hungry bellies and quench our thirst.

We were sad to discover that you didn't serve beer or alcohol. So we each opted for sodas and water to wash down our meals. After browsing the menu, I opted for a chimichanga enchilada style (meaning smothered in sauce), while my husband had the beef and bean burrito, and my father-in-law had a burger. I enjoyed my chimichanga - smothering it was a delicious thought. My husband and father-in-law both said their meals were alright, nothing to write home about.

We were a little disappointed in the wait time. Others that arrived after us received their meals much quicker than we did. The parking lot was also very tight. So patrons with larger vehicles may have to park elsewhere.

You were A-OK in our book. I'd come back and grab lunch with you Chatitas next time we're in the area, but I may look elsewhere for dinner options.

      Your long-distance friend,
      Carly W.

Not a ton of options in Douglas AZ on a Saturday night, had high hopes for this one but the food was just not that great and service was negligible.

My rule of thumb for Mexican restaurants is that you can usually judge the quality of the food you'll be served by the chips and salsa; if a restaurant can't get these right they probably can't get anything right. This is not a foolproof rule but it sure applies here. The chips were stale and the salsa tasted like bad Italian sauce (note to Chatitas: salsa should not be watery, nor should the predominant flavor be oregano). Based on the chips and salsa rule I was reluctant to order anything too complicated so, after waiting 20 minutes for someone to take my order (I finally had to flag someone down) I ordered wings; I figured, who can fuck up wings? Well, Chatitas can! The overriding flavor here was breading fried in not very fresh oil. The bbq sauce that accompanied them was straight out of a bottle, cold and super sweet. How this place gets any stars, much less five stars, is a mystery. tl;dr - don't eat here; it sucks

3 of us ate in Chatitas on Friday, April 15, 2023. The food was nothing special.
The carne asada was tough and chewey and over salted. The french fries were limp. Two of us ordered the same meal. One was served corn tortillas, the other flour tortillas and neither of us was asked which kind we wanted. The chips, salsa, pico de gallo and refried beans were good.
The biggest issue which wasn't apparent until we were leaving is that they make a practice of CHARGING MORE THAN THE PRICES THAT ARE PUBLISHED IN THE MENU and they don't ever TELL you this at ANY time... not as you are being seated, not as you are given the menu and not even as you are paying. If you don't see the sign as you approach the register and you haven't calculated how much your meal should cost you'd never know you'd just been purposely over charged and you probably generously tipped in top of it. Needless to say, I will never eat there again, not because of the food but because of their business practices.

Very good food for a reasonable price. Our to go spot when we go to Douglas. The chatitas burger is huge and so delicious.

I ordered a bone-in 14oz rib eye steak with a baked potato and a salad. I should have canceled the order when they brought the salad along with a bottle of Walmart great value salad dressing. That was a big clue of what was to come. I ordered the steak, medium rare. It was so thin that the steak was raw on the inside. I should've sent it back, but there was no redeeming this experience. With my soft drink, my bill was almost $33, including a $3.33 tip. I had to ask for refills twice. I'm going to give this restaurant, the benefit of the doubt and think that if I went in and ordered Mexican food, it would probably be delicious, but this place is not a steakhouse, no matter how you measure it. The prices for what you get are extremely high.
