Checkmat BJJ Gallatin

Professor Sebastian Rodriguez is an old training partner of mine going back to Team Quest and Dan Henderson's and more recently CheckMat Jiu Jitsu. Sebastian has a wealth of experience as a grappler and Jiu Jitsu practitioner having trained with multiple professional MMA fighters like UFC hall of fame Dan Henderson and world class Jiu Jitsu competitors.
I was very happy to see Sebastian promoted to the rank of black belt by Professor Ricardo "Pantcho" Feliciano of the world famous CheckMat Jiu Jitsu team. Earning a black belt is a real milestone and shows how much dedication and commitment Sebastian has for Jiu Jitsu.
Sebastian is a big guy but emphasizes technique over strength (one of the key aspects of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and is always willing to share what he knows and take the time to break down and understand a technique. I always knew when we sparred I wasn't going to get injured because he was out to win at all cost.

The Gallatin area is lucky to have someone with Sebastian's experience and passion for the art. I'm happy to see his success and excited about how much I know he will make a positive impact on the lives of anyone who willing to take up Jiu Jitsu and put in the time. As cliché is it sounds it really will have a profound positive impact on your life if you are willing to make the effort. I look forward to seeing the growth and success of his gym and intend on making a trip to the area in the future to see it in person and get in some mat time with Professor Rodriguez.

I started training here in December after having trained elsewhere for almost 4 years. Everyone at the gym was very welcoming and made me feel at home. Sebastian is a great coach. He is attentive and responsive to questions and offers good training from his many years of grappling experience. I've enjoyed my time here and would recommend it to anyone.
