Cherry Wine Modern Asian Cuisine is not modern. The decor is fine but there's something off about the place and the menus, old-style laminated menu is not modern. I feel like I'm back at a dinner 20+ years ago.
I appreciate a small menu which means they hopefully focus on quality. We only ordered two sushi and I didn't bother to remember which ones. The quality was fine but the presentation and flavor wasn't modern and nothing that I'd want to come back for.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 23, 2024Seated via Yelp Reservations
A beautiful intimate nook on the streets of La Jolla, I spend an evening here with my husband. This cozy spot has some really nice dishes and selection of Asian cuisine. The service is great views from the balcony are nice as well. This place is smaller in person so be ready for a tight dining experience. I got a nice noodle soup which was hot (temperature) upon arrival, extremely flavorful and definitely filled me up!

The view is amazing. That is a plus. Sadly the food was very bland. The rolls were incorrect with all of our bento boxes. We were suppose to get a mexi Cali roll and spicy tuna roll and they messed up the toppings on all our boxes. We also had Thai Tea and they all came in different glasses. So one of us had a lot less then the others. We noticed when another group of guests were seated their water was served in wine glasses where ours were in different glasses again. The sushi sadly reminded us of grocery store sushi. And the egg rolls were from frozen, they were still cold in the middle. The bento boxes came with miso soup and a slaw which both were fine. For us we didn't really care for the place or the food. The view was the best part.

Almost missed this place but so glad I didn't! This restaurant is placed right next to the park in La Jolla. The entrance is a big staircase that leads to the restaurant upstairs which gives you a nice view of the park and water. We went at sunset/evening so it got pretty cold as we were up there. They were able to turn on these overhead heat lamps for us and it was warm for a little bit but I think we needed the bigger, standing ones that they had. I ordered the Coconut Noodle Soup which tasted so good, especially with how cold the weather was. I love coconut soup by itself already so adding noodles to it was already a plus for me. What really elevated the dish were the red onions added. They somehow made the dish more savory and the crunchy texture of them went well with the texture of the soft noodles. They even added a pretty flower garnish on top of my soup. The service was very fast and they were very on top of it when it came to ordering and refilling our drinks. They were also very friendly when it came to turning on the heat lamps. A great hidden gem in La Jolla!

What a great find! Just a short walk from the La Jolla beach where the sea lions are, we landed at Cherry Wine and were seated on the heated patio. The place was very clean and prettily decorated, including the bathroom. We had a nice variety of menu items, including edamame, gyoza, the tea leaves salad (fantastic app!), and multiple sushi rolls. The meals were served with fresh edible flowers. The server accommodated our dietary restrictions (gluten free and low sodium) with generosity. He was as friendly and kind as he could possibly be. I would highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.

Such a cute little spot if you want to enjoy the scenery and have some Asian dishes!
They have a little corner table (if no one took it lol it's very popular) that you can view straight out to La Jolla shores!
We enjoyed every dish we got! We did the pick 3 appetizer and hubby got the spicy beef, I got the salmon, and my son got the fried rice. Both my husband and I ate everything off our plate! I enjoyed my sons fried rice the next day!
We will definitely be coming back here! The owner was super nice and everything came out rather quick (even though I think there is only two people there!)Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Elias G.Goodyear - Mastic, San Jose, CA071Mar 29, 2024
