I really enjoy the food I get here. The pick up service isn't always awesome, they sometimes forget sauces, or occasionally get your order wrong, which definitely is a hassle, but the food is great and very reasonably priced and a easy, yummy meal. The place itself is nice, has an old family restaurant theme.
Has good food options and overall good for families and kids.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan M.Henderson, NV0762Apr 8, 2024

Oh happy day! Decaf coffee and HOT apple pie after veg lunch of sweet potato skillet. All delicious. Great service too.

Coffee pitcher left at table so fewer interruptions from friendly staff. My brother ordered cinnamon roll pancakes without cream cheese frosting (what? Best part for me.). He preferred real maple syrup. Good choice (for him!).
Likely return again this morning as we are staying in hotel nearby.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Colonial Café in Saint Charles Illinois. The decor was updated with a modern farmhouse vibe, well-maintained, and clean. The menu had a variety of options and clearly identified vegetarian and gluten friendly dishes. The menu also includes cocktails, which was unexpected. The sandwiches were delicious and in good portions, providing a second meal to take home. The price was very fair and comparative to local diners in the area.
We encountered a slight problem when the pescatarian at our table, ordered a tuna salad avocado croissant sandwich, and instead was given chicken salad. Our server was very quick to make the change and bring out a new plate with amazing speed.
We recommend colonial Café in Saint Charles, and will definitely return.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brian L.Waukesha, WI320532Jan 27, 2024
We are visiting from out of town. Tried Colonial for breakfast. Great service. The food was very good. One of the best omelets I've had in a restaurant. It's clean and well lit. We will be back when in the area

Having eaten here before I was looking forward to my visit today. I was a little disappointed though. There was a funk (odor) lingering in the restaurant today that took away from the overall experience for me.
The decor is actually a step above most family diners. The stone on the walls and dark wood panels make it feel more homey while the generous use of space in the dining rooms compensates for the darker tones so it doesn't feel cramped.
Everything I experienced was well kept. The silverware and dishes were clean with no chips, cracks, etc. My booth was clean and in good condition as well.
The staff were friendly and attentive. My waiter Andrew did a fine job. Everything was done in a timely fashion as well.
The food was okay overall. The coffee was fair. The kielbasa skillet I had was really a wasted opportunity. It had a good presentation but needed some color, maybe a sprinkle of scallions or diced tomato on top. The kielbasa crumbles had a great flavor but a poor mouth feel. It felt like I was eating taco ground beef. Half or even quarter slices would have retained the flavor and felt better. The dices on the veggies were way too small. They retained almost no flavor at all and acted as an afterthought for the dish. It was a little greasy as well. The potatoes were spot on. The cast iron skillet was a nice touch as well. I really wanted to like this dish but the execution was lacking.
Would I recommend this restaurant? Yes with a couple of reservations. They need to address the funky smell in the building and put a little more love into their food.
I would return to give it another try. I do think their hearts are in the right place. They've just lost their way a bit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elijah K.Madison, WI010Dec 31, 2023
Very good cinnamon roll French bread. I don't usually leave reviews and I was just browsing stuff on yelp. It sounded good so I got it. I was pleasantly surprised. It surpassed my expectations and redefined desert for me.

In town for business and happened upon this Cafe looking for a new place to eat. Stopped in, and like every place else, they could use more help, but I was seated quickly and had my server there quickly. When I asked about recommendations, he suggested the loaded chicken and waffles. I'm glad I went with his choice and got the small plate and loved it. I finished dinner off with a small turtle Sunday and am quite stuffed. With Tip and all, I was out of there for just under $30. God even topped the visit off with a . I will visit again next time I'm in town.
