Caregiver did not have any passion for the job.
Caregiver had no experience with changing or patient transfers. Caregiver lied about experience. Do not trust comfort keepers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello. I’m not sure who your referring too in terms of client or caregiver as I have no record under your name. I’d be more than happy to discuss. Our office number is 805 494-9900.

Not exactly what was promised...Kim is a wonderful salesperson and made me feel secure and comfortable during the intake interview...however, I quickly discovered that she was over promising and under delivering. We requested a caregiver that would engage the patient, and instead we got one day of a good caregiver and three days of lazy caregivers that sat in a chair and looked at their phone. I am not sure how the vet their caregivers, but it seems like they put out a notice and whoever replies gets the job...not the personalized attention I sought and was willing to pay for. Also, we were billed for overtime that we never approved. Once they get your checking account number to withdraw funds, there is very little you can do to get compensated for the error. Learn from my mistakes!

Comfort Keepers has provided care to my Mother and my Cousin during some incredibly difficult times. They provide care at the highest possible level including transporting my cousin to her doctor's appointments and caring for my mother who fought bravely for five years against lung cancer. The caregivers that were provided to my family were of the highest quality. They were caring, efficient, competent, and timely. Some of them became dedicated to such an extent that both my mother and my cousin would request the same caregivers over and over again. Comfort Keepers is family-owned. The owners care so much about their employees and their clients that they have retained employees and clients for many, many years. They do what they do out of caring and treat it as much more than a business. I can't say enough about Comfort Keepers in terms of their ownership and their entire staff.

I have worked with Comfort Keepers and their owners, Andy and Ellen Smith, for years. I send friends, colleagues and clients to them for care in the home and have only heard positive and glowing reviews. In my experience, it is important to work with a company that operates with the highest integrity, has a robust care staff and that offers care managers overseeing the care staff in the home. Comfort Keepers gets 10 Stars!

They take the time and trouble to find extraordinary caregivers, and they treat their employees well. Unfailingly kind, knowledgeable people work for them, and it makes the world a better, brighter place for the people and families they serve.

When I hired comfort keepers they explained to me that they would provide me regular updates if there were any concerns regarding my moms care and that they would provide supervision over their staff and check in with my mother consistently to make sure her needs were being met. Last week I get a call the first in over six months saying that they are no longer able to meet my moms needs and we're immediately dropping her care. They said my moms requires nursing services but have given no explanation of what those are and when we checked with nursing providers they say she doesn't require that level of services as she is able to take care of all her basic needs. In the over six months I did not receive one single update or phone call and my mom reports that unless there wa a question about if a service was allowed to be provided that she had not had check in calls on even a monthly basis.
The actual caregiving service by the provider I feel was good. I'm just concerned with the oversight and communication from the company to the family. The first call with a concern should not be the last and should include specifics so we can find the right type of care.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kathleen B.Morris, IL022Oct 20, 2020
The agency does not interview their care givers that cared for my mom. Paid for 24 care, some care givers never attended to my dying moms needs as I watch her on her phone giggling and lack of respect. Mom was never changed or turned as we hired for with full expectations. Bed sores open as Hospice nurse had to lecture care giver that evening about no attention to anything going on. This went on for two 12 hours sessions days back to back. The care giver was not experienced as I guess she was 18 years old. I don't want anyone to go through what we have experienced as we were at mom's house 8 of the 12 hours on the 2nd day of this care giver. One care giver was very caring, but one day of good does no good for her last 12 days of coming home. Find another service ... The song and dance to sell their service in caring only works if you know your staff, but they were clueless!

Hello, Kathleen. Thank you for your message. My wife and I believe that you are referencing in your review the wrong company. We never took care of your mother. For instance, in your review, you say we were providing 12-hour shifts. We have not provided 12-hour shifts to regular clients since 2015. We only very very rarely provide them (maybe just a few times a year), for a fill-in shift, when that is called for..And, you may be thinking of another Comfort Keepers business. There are hundreds of them in America. We do interview all caregivers that we consider hiring, and are consistently praised by many of the thousands of families we've taken care of, for the quality of our caregivers. For this, and other reasons, we believe you've mistaken us for a different company. Please feel free to call us to discuss this. Or, feel free to call us to discuss care options in your community. We are located in southern California, but are aware of many helpful resources for seniors and their loved ones, throughout the country, including in Illinois, where you live.
We take pride in providing the highest quality of care to seniors, over these 18 years. We're so sorry you had a poor experience with the company that you contracted with. I hope you find a better solution for your beloved mother!
If you would be so kind, please delete this review. We would so appreciate that. - Karen M.Salt Lake City, UT611May 28, 2019
We can't say enough good about Comfort Keepers. We live in a different state than our parents, but connected with Comfort Keepers to help us ensure the safety and care of my parents.
We have had the blessing of their services for the last two years. They are knowledable, proactive and attentive to every need, even those we don't think of. Our situation was especially challenging as we've worked to meld various family members and caregivers together.
Ellen, the owner, is professional and has organized a group that is beyond exceptional. Carol, our case manager, was like a close friend who cared like we do. We're deeply grateful for the attention and caring spirit all our caregivers gave...they became close members of our family.
We recommend these great people and organization without reservation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - KQ L.Thousand Oaks, CA87719Jul 21, 2018
I have used Comfort Keepers several times. My mom is comfortable working the care givers they have provided, especially Jenny Edgerly.
I like that Comfort Keepers has provided me with quality care givers even in last minute situations.
When someone has been at the house and a new person from Comfort Keepers steps in, even for just a night, the established person shows them the ropes and passes on what my mom likes and doesn't like.
The hard part is their rate. Getting someone in on a regular basis, which is what I need for my parent, is very expensive. If I could have someone here for $20 an hour instead of $40+, I'd probably be much less drained physically, emotionally and financially.
Comfort Keepers is perfect except for the $$$$Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm glad you had a very good experience with our senior caregiving services!
The rate you mentioned is only for 2 hour shifts. 3 or 4 + hour shifts are a lot less costly. We would be glad to be of service the next time you need us! - Marcia U.Camarillo, CA07Apr 7, 2021
One of the most impressive qualities about the TO Comfort Keepers is their compassion for seniors. I have seen it firsthand, and it starts from the "top down", the owners, to the staff, to the Caregivers! And no wonder their caregivers are amazing; they provide ongoing training for the Caregivers assuring them to have the knowledge and skills to care for our loved ones. I've seen it. The clients are treated with dignity, compassion and professionalism. Amazing group of caregivers.
