Service though friendly enough is extremely slow. Took about 15 minutes to get menus, 25 mins between appetizer to our meal and another 20 mins after payment to get my credit card back.

I like that there's a beer garden in Cary but the food was mediocre and the service is way too slow. Especially considering how it was the middle of the day on a Saturday and with not a lot of patrons. Plus $9 for a shallow bowl of goulash was a bit excessive.

I might come back for games and beers on the outdoor patio but I'll probably steer clear of the overpriced bar food.

Let me start by saying that the customer service and atmosphere are spot on for the intended style of the restaurant. We just spent 5 years in Germany and they are on the right path. They have a hide and seek gnome activity for the kids, an outside area with ping pong and cornhole and the interior is reminiscent of the father land. The manager is friendly and the waiter was good.
BUT THEN THERE IS THE ISSUE OF THE FOOD
Any German would be appalled at the so called schnitzel. The salmon was horrible and not even my kid (who eats everything) would eat the fries because they were under done. Of they could get better food this place would kill it.
And over 70 dollars for 2 adults and 1 child is insane for the quality of the food.
Really wanted to love this place, but till they get a new chef and revamp the menu...we won't be coming back.

This place just opened in the old Dean's (same management) which had gotten downright awful over the past few years. Stopped by for a sampling before bringing people here next week for a larger gathering of beers and bites. Overall, this is a BIG improvement from what Dean's had become and could be a great spot - once they figure out who they are. Can't give half stars but this is more like a solid 3.5 than a 3, but not yet a 4.

For starters, they make it clear they're not a German place, but have a few German options as they're a biergarten. Fair enough. But it's actually more like they gutted half of Dean's and put biergarten tables in and the music was like an eclectic, annoying Applebee's playlist. I'm not sure if this place is really a biergarten yet. Time will tell.

The tap menu is pretty average for the Triangle. Only had 2 German beers on tap (Warsteiner Pilsner and Dunkle) and the rest local brews. I skipped for today since my idea of a biergarten is stuff you can't get anywhere else. Didn't try the cocktails but the concoctions looked fresh and if they're made by the same tenders as Dean's, they'll be very strong and tasty.

Started off with the bratwurst bites platter and fried sauerkraut. The "bratwursts" they served me were actually kielbasa or mettwurst (you can see they're red compared to the brown brat on the sausage platter in the pics). Mentioned this to the server who went back to the kitchen and (audibly) told them, but no correction or apology was made. Weak. Otherwise, it was pretty good, though the sausage wasn't cooked with any technique and half the plate was baked pretzel slices (very good, but not mentioned on the menu). For $10, it was a dinky portion. Hard pass on this if I come again.

The fried sauerkraut was billed as just that (with mustard). What it actually is is a fried knish-like potato ball with sauerkraut inside. It was absolutely delicious, but with no mention of potato on the menu, I was disappointed as I couldn't eat it all as I'm watching carbs. Mentioned to waiter and he said the kitchen said there's no potato in there - okay, just like they served me "bratwurst." lol Aye. Still, a definite star on the menu.

The sausage platter came and it was just okay. They didn't pan fry sausages properly to release the flavors and get a crisp bite on the casing (Maillard reaction + butter is your friend). As it was, they were fairly dense with little flavor despite being internally seasoned properly. The kraut was a tiny portion that wasn't anything to write home about and the red cabbage was overpowered with granny smith apple (could be a matter of preference, but it was strong!). Their aoili was pretty much siracha and mayo, but they have great mustard which helped with the semi-bland sausage.

Our server was very friendly but Dean's always had friendly servers. I did expect a lot more excitement from the staff because this is their opening weekend, first Saturday lunch. It seemed more like this was just a ho-hum day for them, with no explanation of their new concept or mention that they just opened. No specials. No explanations. Nothing special.

Basically, we ran into the same problems as with Dean's. Some of the food was very good, some not - mostly problems with technique and throwing whatever on the dish. Wonder if it's the same kitchen/chef because it's the same problem Dean's had last time I was there.

Overall, might try again in a few weeks/months just because it's nearby and might have potential, but won't be bringing friends by for a night of beers and grub just yet. Maybe once they figure out who they are and embrace. As of now it just seems like V.4: Dean's Re-imagined as a Biergarten. But at least it's not v.3 anymore, which was a 1-star!

Pork stroganoff advertised on the menu with ground pork. It is not ground - it's large chunks. Advertised with brown gravy & scallions. I didn't see either in the dish but oddly there were cherry tomatoes. Far overpriced for the bowl of egg noodles and incorrect ingredients.

They had "run out" of their "soup of the day" already at 6:30pm.

The Goulash was nicely flavored - think Dinty Moore beef stew - but it had two large chunks of pure fat in it that I had to spit out. Photo provided.

Nice tea choices but only one was herbal without being black tea. Nice wait staff. Also - please arrive early enough for a booth. The wooden benches and tables are uncomfortable.

I was expecting German food. German name, German food seems like a reasonable assumption, no? Alas, the only thing German is they sell some beer and you can order a pretzel. Nothing German on the menu. Service was so-so, had to keep going into the bar area (we sat in the heated outside area which during COVID-19 rates at least 2 stars) to get the waitress. Really seems odd for a place in Cary, I don't see how they have cash to even pay the rent, hardly any cars in parking lot. Money isn't going into food though, even for Asian cuisine it left a lot to be desired. Lots of pasta stuff and deep fried whatever. Still, it's nice to have a place open during COVID-19 so I wish them good fortune and auf Wiedersehen!

1st time here with my Family.
My kids loved this restaurant a lot, coz they had lots of games for kids to play while parents are enjoying their meals.
Our server was sooo attentive and nice, he took time to introduce each games to my kids.
We as Family really loved and appreciate the way they take care of their customers.
We had Pretzels, Buffalo Wings, Beer Braised Short Ribs, Mediterranean Salmon and House Burger.

Atmosphere is what makes you want to come here. Lawn games , indoor scavenger hunts , fireplace for s'mores, and so much more. The staff are very friendly. The food is okay. If you want less traditional the salmon entree and burgers are good. For appetizers always get the Pretzel!!!! It's delicious. I got it unsalted. Best I've ever had.

$20 dollars a head for new years and NADA - $2 for soda but can not get a refill

This place keeps changing names/ owners / managers

This time they bit off more than they could handle booking CRUSH BAND for the night

ONE BARTENDER - got her ass kicked so long lines at the bar - no (ok maybe one) bus staff so tables sat full of dishes - limited wait staff

Promised was to clear tables for dancing but they never finished that so now the dance floor is too small and crowded - obviously they did not understand the popularity of CRUSH BAND

This place wasn't what I was expecting at all. It's not really even authentic German food, so not sure why they try to pretend to be a German biergarten? And they only had a couple German beers on tap, so it was all very strange. Not to mention the fact that it literally took forever to get our meals, even though we didn't order anything complicated, and the place was not busy at all. Once we did get the food it was ok, I mean I ordered the sausage plate, and how can you really screw up sausage?? But my date had a BLT, and it was supposed to have avocados on it. It came out without avocados, or even mayo. She asked about it and they said they ran out of avocados earlier in the day, well it would have been nice to know that BEFORE ordering! I also found the seating to be odd, I wouldn't want to sit on a picnic table bench while eating, glad we got seated at an actual booth. Also the prices seem high for the food they serve. I probably would not return here, it sucks because I like German food and beer, but this place really missed the mark.
