About the Business
Established in 2017. Diablo Cherries is owned and operated by a family of farmers who have worked the clay soils of Brentwood for five generations. In 2017 we joined together (mother, daughter, father, and son-in-law) to establish Diablo Cherries Farm. Stay tuned as we work to offer more U-Pick options including blackberries, strawberries, nectarines, peaches, apricots, figs, pomegranates, and farm-fresh eggs!

Can an average 6 year old reach the trees to pick the cherries?

Absolutely! We prune our trees to keep them producing low to the ground. There’s plenty available for picking.

Diablo Cherries is my new favorite place to pick cherries in the Brentwood area! The farm is clean and well organized. Cherries are organized by color and sectioned out with ample space to walk through the trees. The ground is not dusty like other farms but it can be a little muddy some days when the sun isn't as hot. The fruit are low hanging and pretty sweet. I wanted some Rainiers when I came but the Rainier cherries were too sour and not ready to be picked (2 weeks ago).
Cherries are $4/lb and the workers are really nice! There are also picnic tables available if you wanted to pack a bite. They are dog friendly.
Overall, I absolutely recommend this place for family fun cherry picking!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Amen C.Brentwood, CA480106Jun 25, 2023Updated review
Emily said "come back in 2 weeks & the cherries will be in their prime", boy, was she ever right! We came back yesterday & the cherries are even bigger & sweeter!!! No kidding!!! We were going to limit ourselves to 5 pounds each but ended up picking about 25 pounds. There were gorgeous Lapins, Corals, Rainiers, & even some Black Pearls left.
Thanks again Diablo for this late bounty.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 11, 2023Previous reviewOh boy did we ever hit the bounty. The coral & rainier cherries are fantastic here. The staff at Diablo are super friendly & helpful with lots of useful information. We were first welcomed by the older gentleman on a tractor right out in the parking lot before the entrance. Then a lovely lady explained the process & the best tress for the day. A lot of the cherries were large & ripe ready for the picking. As we were leaving, the sane gentleman on the tractor said that theses are the best cherry harvest in 25 years due to all the rain we had. We recommend you all come pick some cherries soon if you're a cherry lover before the season ends. We truly had the best time today.

Our first picking experience with the kids and it was AMAZING! Perfect height for our 3yo and stroller accessible for our 1yo. In fact we had so much fun that we went twice, 50lbs picked in all and stocked in the freezer or cooked into jam. We would've picked more of the best cherries we've ever eaten but wouldn't know where to put them. All staff were delightful, happy to point you in the right direction or chat about the farm. Simply lovely people. Can't wait until next year!

My wife and I went cherry picking for the first time ever and we landed here. What a fun place! Of course there are a lot of U-Pick places in the area, but I have to say that my wife and I really enjoyed our experience here.
The staff is very very friendly, and their cherries are sweet and delicious! (And yea! They even encourage you to try them off the tree as you pick them, which I've heard is very good as some other places don't allow tasting.)
Anyhow, we will be coming back here next year.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - T B.San Francisco, CA0199322Jun 3, 2023
This is my favorite cherry picking place because the staff are friendly. They was standing in the front greeting everyone and told you where to go to pick cherries. Their cherries are dark red. There are a lot of cherries. My family and I filled up 5 full buckets and we was picking from pole #7, 9, 10. We didn't have to walk too far. I got there at 10:00 am by the time we left at 12:50 pm the parking area was full of cars. Please keep in mind they accept cash or Venmo only, no credit cards. I highly recommend this place.

Cozy, clean, and shaded. A lot of ripe and huge cherries. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, medium size parking.
Morning times are the best; we started at 9 am. After 10 half of the parking lot got full.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jerry G.San Jose, CA272416May 30, 2023
I have been to many cherry farm, this is by far the best. I wasn't expecting too much since this year does not have as much sun as previous years, but this farm is wonderful. Trees were not too tall so my 8 year old son can pick very easily. Cherry was not very sweet but that was expected.

I took my boys here on a homeschool field trip Wednesday 5/26. They loved it! I loved it! 5 stars and more!
When we mentioned we hadn't been picking before after a very warm welcome, we were advised we would probably find more cherries in the middle as people tend to pick around the perimeter, include the stems when you pick, and to taste a LOT.
All of the recommendations led to a great visit along with their super warm responses to our questions and always someone, even while picking, nearby to help.
If you visit the website, I will add there were no ladders on our weekday visit and they provided buckets too.. You can come with "nothing" and pick away. Plenty of hand sanitizer and masks worn. Their sign says required, but being it wasn't crowded amongst the "pickers" most had them pulled down or off. We felt safe, but in case you are on the fence with COVID issues.
There were LOTS of yummy dark Bing cherries. We walked away with just under 10 lbs and another smaller bag of Coral grapes that were a juicy hit!.. Go for the cherries you love but go try, taste, and pick the others that are available... also a bit more fun to make the kiddos search for the ripe ones and learn about differences of ripe and unripe even when you find the ones you love.
I can't stress how awesome the staff here was .. just nothing but love for them. I visited the website and FB page, both were up to date with availability and what to expect, except they do have buckets..
We will definitely be back.. Hard to believe half our cherries are gone already one day later and we have a LOT!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jun 2, 2022
It was clean and the best part it was color coded. Especially helpful when I only know cherries and I don't know know how to differentiate between the cherries. $4.00 a pound and cash only when I went. We got some really good and crunchy black pearls. Very sweet and yummy! A must to come here!

Visit on 5/11/22:
Very reasonably priced at $4/pound. Staff was friendly and accommodating for our toddler who didn't understand the "No sampling" rule (we threw in a few extra bucks to compensate for what she ate). The cherry quality is good at the time of this writing-- sweet, firm, ripe, and best of all for those of you with sensitive teeth-- LOW ACID. They have the regular dark cherries and the yellow Raniers too.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
