Whenever i'm out ( not very often ), i try to check out one or two new places that I haven't tried before just to see if they're a place i'd like to go back to in the future. One fine morning, I was in Benicia, I decided i'll check out places in UberEats and found Diana's Bakery Cafe & Deli, which has extensive menu that looks delightful. So I ordered through the app for pick up as I was about 10 mins away and parking's a challenge. This was on September 28, 2023.

I called them up a few minutes after ordering just to check if it's ready for pick up. A lady on the phone sounded like she's not having a good day and started asking me about my order, specifically the item in the menu that says "Cannoli, Lobster Tail, Tiramisu" ( BACKSTORY: in the app was listed for $4.50 with add-on option of $1.00 for Lobster Tail. I'm not sure what this was, I know what Cannoli is and Tiramisu but i don't have a clue what a Lobster Tail is. Curiosity had me ordering this, and i selected the option of +$1.00 for Lobster Tail ). The lady on the phone sounded like she's annoyed at me because I ordered a Lobster Tail for that price since she says that item is about $10+. So i told her that's the pricing in the app and I don't have any say on that regard. Just to make things easier, I just agreed on adjusting my invoice.

I then came in a few minutes later to pick up my order. This place is in the higher priced tier when it comes to bakery's and deli shop so I was quite surprised when i was handed with two of the cheapest, thinnest, plastic bags only found in wet markets in the Philippines.

Now I excitedly opened the bags and found some quite disappointing items in it. I'll include the photos of what I ordered, how it's presented in the Ubereats app, and what I actually received. I understand opinions on this are subjective hence I made sure I have some reference for mine. Particularly 3 items: Pecan Bar, Individual Cake, and Classic Italian Cookie: Lemon Drop. I think these items are misrepresented in photos as they are quite different from what I got. Not to mention, Individual Cake wasn't only disappointing due to it's actual size, but also it's very dry, almost like a muffin, but dehydrated version.

Included in my order are two jars of salsa that sounds good so I wanted to try it. I tried one of them with some corn chips, then I saw the label on the jar where expiration date says 03/23/2023!!! I understand it's partly my fault for not checking these dates when I just got them, but who does that perfectly. I mean, i got these not from a costco type of store, it's more of like a gourmet deli that doesn't have 10 customers lined up in their checkout. In fact, when I picked up my order, it was only me in there. Now I checked the second jar of salsa, alas it's expiration date is 08/09/2023. See photos for reference.

Furthermore, while typing this review and looking at my receipt, I just realized that I ordered House of Webster Peach Butter for $8.50 but didn't receive it.

Disappointing experience to say the least. I think misrepresenting your products in food ordering app is predatory, missing item could be an honest mistake, but selling expired jars of salsa? Not good. Lastly being annoyed at your customer because of your pricing error is not a good impression.

Ps. Consider using paper bags instead of the cheap plastic bags. It's not only more pleasing to look at, its also more functional, reusable, recyclable and mother nature will appreciate it more.

I was extremely excited to stumble upon this place. I was originally walking to a different coffee shop, an extremely regrettable decision that was choosing this place instead. Seeing an authentic looking Italian experience won me over. I ordered a latte, a breakfast sandwich for my son, two cookies and some items from the shelve. Two of which were expired. Now I don't particularly think seasoning expires by the date, but still.. 2022? Now let's start with my latte... it tasted as if someone has used a keurig pod 5x before and this was she 6th cup from the same pod. Absolutely no flavor besides dirt. Disgusting. I took one sip and immediately disposed. The cookies were dry as hell, probably because they were from last week's batch given the shameless selling of expired food. The lady was pretty weird at first too. Until she realized I was taking all these expired products off her hands. My bad for not checking that of course but please.. i will be telling everyone to stay away from this place.

A bit disappointed since reading most reviews it seemed like it would be a nice experience. We walked in the 'store' side and immediately started gathering interesting items we wanted to try. I picked a small box of 'fudge' and was excited to try. When we got back to our hotel I unwrapped the box and bit into a very dry and crumbly mess. No flavor and seemed old. I've never had crumbly fudge. Somewhat expensive too so paying for something not edible was very disappointing.

The bakery side, there was a woman there that didn't seem very customer service oriented. It almost felt like she didn't want us in there. We chose to ignore it since everyone has bad days, we didn't take it personally. We did order a few croissants to go and a couple of breakfast sandwiches to eat there and they were tasty.

We probably wouldn't come back though.

Supposed to be 'fudge' but it was old and crumbly

I wanted to try something new and I chose Diana's based on the photos on their site. I thought the Bourbon Bread pudding was delicious. Not too sweet, just right. I chose to warm it up and it's decadent. The pecan bar was great and also not too sweet. Just right. I expected it to be sweetener for some reason. The cannoli was disappointing. It's just not tasty, quite bland. I took one bite and I was done. So I don't personally recommend it. I ordered an Italian cookie but it was substituted by a shortbread cookie which was actually very good, buttery (not pictured). I think it's hit or miss with this place if ordered via online. I would have to give it another try and go in in person. I ordered via DoorDash so I could have a chosen better if I went in person in my opinion.

We enjoyed the cookies and cheesecake! The cannoli and lobster tale weren't the best we've. But we were impressed with the friendly service and the fun atmosphere! Definitely will return again for the cookies and to try something new.

My first time here and I like the size of the bakery. It is divided into two parts: one side with pastries, baked goodies, and food + tea and the other side are products you can buy from a basket of pasta ingredients to peppermint bark. As to the food I ordered, the sandwich was okay. My egg kept sliding and it became a mess (which I dislike) but that's just me. It also had no seasoning but it's a plus for those watching their sodium intake. The Zucchini bread was also a first bite for me and the flavors are there but the bread seemed drier than what I had imagined but at least the slice is thick.
The tea was really hot but it was great especially since It was 48 degrees in Benicia.

Overall, the service was nice (especially when you're first when it opens) and is a great spot for all your breakfast and brunch desires. I'll come back again to buy peppermint bark for the season.

We ordered two Burrata sandwiches from Dianna's Cafe. The pictures on the menu looked delicious but when we received the sandwiches, the sandwiches didn't look anything like the picture. The bread was different, the taste was bland, no flavor. In order to eat the sandwiches, we had to add condiments, seasonings and green and still couldn't eat the sandwich. The bread was spongy, not good.
I also ordered a cinnamon roll for $5, we only received half of the cinnamon roll ??

I definitely will not be returning. I guess I should have looked at the reviews before eating there.

Fantastic lobster tails and chai. Very good and friendly staff and the service was very good. The ambiance was casual and welcoming and I can't wait to come back!

My family came in to order a coffee for my husband and a breakfast burrito for my littles. Whoever the woman was at the counter was not welcoming. After we paid for our order she told my husband she wanted us to wait outside and she would bring us our food. When I heard her say that I immediately wanted to cancel our order. There were people behind us so I didn't. I did however pay attention to her not ask the other customers to wait outside. This women is racist. She racially profiled my husband since he has many tattoos. Tattoos doesn't make you a bad person. Would not be coming back. Do not recommend. Veggie burrito was not good either. Service was the worst I have experienced in Benicia!
