Q:
Hi. Are there any vegan-friendly options?
A:
I can't confirm myself, but one reviewer said they had chicken and vegan dogs as well. Can't see it displayed on the menu photo though.

Positives: Great Quality Dogs and Charming Ambiance
Areas For Growth: Other Ingredient Quality, Meal Price, and Brand Awareness
This place has the makings of a hole in the wall spot I would be proud to show to visitors. Unlike others, I think Dog On It is actually easy enough to find; there is a cheerful, striped awning and a couple of tables with stools. There is no inside beyond the kitchen.
A two for one meal deal on Groupon ($11 instead of $23) brought us here for a mid-week lunch. We ordered ahead and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived to pick up at the 18 minute mark and our meals were ready for us. The only drinks available were a bottle of water, Coke, and Diet Coke. A meal is a drink, fries, and the hotdog. Oddly, I think the hot dogs are worth their price, but the combos are really not a deal. I would buy my drink elsewhere.
I ordered the Mac Dog and my partner ordered the Philly Dog. The Macaroni and Cheese on the Mac Dog was tasty and they allowed me to substitute the Bacon (I'm just not a fan) for Grilled Onions. We both loved the hotdogs and thought they were incredible quality for what is essentially street food. Our biggest issue was the buns. They were smaller than the actual fixings really required and their spongy consistency did not really hold up to the eating process. They were too soft and weak. These are the same hot dog buns you would buy on a trip to Walmart.
The fries had great seasonings/salt, but something about them makes that seasoning just fall off. They have the potential to be great if that is fixed. Overall would return and love the character it brings to The Grove neighborhood.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2325601080Jun 17, 2023
The red hot riplet dog is amazingly good. I'll be back for it I crave it again and again. I give this place four stars. Your wait time is about 5 minutes. The grape soda is good to but it's in a can its not a fountain drink.

I'm not a hotdog person but wanting to support local small business, I took my Mom when she visited . She wanted the frito dog but it was near closing so out of chili . She ended up with the red hot riblet dog , fries and onion rings . She said everything was well done and had a hog quality dog which is key . I was pleased to see they do have vegan abd chicken dogs so I may be back to give them a try
Made to order so it takes about 15 min which is worth it for fresh foodHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 151244576Dec 12, 2021
Delicious! Tried the Harvest dog here as part of a Yelp event and fell in love!
I live close to the Grove and had no idea this place even existed. So happy I got to try it. I had the Harvest Dog with some red hot riplets. The hotdog was the perfect amount of salty and sweet! It was fresh, warm and flavorful. There is a lot on the menu that I still need to try.
As for location, it was not the easiest to find, but it is located right across the street from grace and meat! It has a cute take out window and the guy behind the window was friendly and inviting! Will def check this place out again?Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Dec 11, 2021
For a yelp outing, I signed up for this lunch...
I thought I was signing up for a volunteer event... Like dog walk or entertaining kids at a nursery.
But after reading the description better I realized this was offering me a dressed hot dog.
I am not a fan of hot dogs, but already signed up I thought might as well. The Harvest Hot Dog was very tasty almost like a sausage. The bacon was cooked, but I prefer crisp bacon. The apple slices were cooked with sugar. Overall, this dish gave me savory and sweet mix that made me rethink the drink I purchased.
Shocked at the little "hole in the wall"... literally order from a side door facing Tower Grove South of Manchester... this place can give this flavor.
Definitely worth the trip, but they need some no sugar options for drinks.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - 286178532Nov 18, 2022
In an unassuming window in the middle of the block in the grove, you'll find one of the best hidden gems in the city - DOG ON IT. The hot dog is a good size with a good bun and a unique mix of toppings. MY FAV: The "Ripplet" topped with riplet chips, nacho cheese, onions, and
BBQ sauce! Also, check out their loaded fries!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 598124579Dec 11, 2021
Fantastic Dogs! They are definitely bringing flavor to the grove! You walk up and order at the window and are met by a friendly smile. I had the harvest dog, tried the hula, and my boyfriend had the riplet dog. I liked the harvest dog...loveeeed the chicken sausage and the bacon on top. I also adored the pineapple s and peppers on the hula! all the ingredients were so fresh!
Since you do order at a window, make sure to wear a coat if it's cold! I sat back in my car and came out in about 20 minutes and my order was being bagged up. It would be best if they could text when the order is ready and maybe that is a feature they could add later. All in all, I really like this new restaurant and am glad to have something new so close by! i'll be back to try the philly!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 12, 2022
If you've driven down Tower Grove Ave before Manchester, you may have noticed a window in the wall of a building that says DOG ON IT and had no idea what you were looking at. Same.
I quickly looked them up and found out that they were a brand new hot dog place in the center of the Grove neighborhood- right across from Grace Meat + Three. They have a walkup window where you can check out the menu board, order, and wait for your meal to be made to order.
They have 1 table on the sidewalk if you aren't taking your order to go.
We ordered the Windy City Dog with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, sport peppers, pickle spear, and celery salt. If that doesn't scream Chicago style, then I don't know what does. We also got the Mac Dog with the creamiest mac n cheese topped with bacon. They can sure do mac n cheese right.
The owner James and his brother-in-law Desmond are devoted to fresh, fast, service with quality product. As we were eating, we kept commenting on the size and quality of the all-beef hot dog.
They also have chicken or vegan dogs if you prefer something different.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 11, 2022
As a former Detroiter the lack of restaurants that specialize in hot dogs in St Louis has always puzzled me. We found Dog On It after we ate across the street at Grace and it took us awhile to finally try it. Definitely worth a visit.
Dog on It offers a wide variety of specialty hot dogs and some side dishes. We tried the Riplet Dog, the Windy City Dog and the West Coaster. 1/4 beef dogs are grilled just right. The fries are really good and salted just right. The Mac and Cheese is really cheesy with a silky texture. The noodles were a little over cooked though.
Prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly and helpful.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
