Dosai Xpress Sri Annapoorna opened in Peri Peri Grill House's vacated space. Interior similar + more decor.
Offerings(South Indian Vegeterian): special dosai, rava dosai, uthappam, rice combos, drinks, rice varieties, tiffin combos, starter-appetizers, soups, salads.
Greeted after entering. Ordered at front counter, paid, assigned a table. Got food 5ish minutes later.
Eats: Fremont Restaurant Week special: Dosa combo with idly, vada, sweet dessert, chai (9.99)
-only spoon given. Most Indian food eaten with hands.
-idly is the spongy round white rice cake, vada is the lightly fried brown donut shape cake. Dosa is a large thin savory crepe made from rice & white gram.
-chai was tasty as usual. Sweet dessert was rava, made from wheat. Not overly sweet....
-dipping sauces-3 chutneys, one sambar.
-food was freshly made or made recently. Yummy indeed. Ate it either by spooning sauces onto breads or breaking same and dipping into chutneys, sambar.
*combo specially for restaurant week. Menu has similar combos with breads, dosas....Helpful 18Thanks 7Love this 17Oh no 0 - Bharath N.Lathrop, CA149109Dec 14, 2023
This place has by far, the best dosa in Fremont and surrounding areas. The dosas here are crisp, the right level of spice and the fillings are adequate. A key component of dosa is the quality and taste of chutney and this place delivers. Highly recommend coming here if you like dosas. The rasam Vada was quite delicious as well.
The ambiance is reminiscent of older 'cafes' in south India, but could do with some cohesion. The service is good and fast. Definitely stop by for your daily dosa of good food :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 24, 2023Updated review
I purchased the idli and dosai batter from them to experiment with at home this week. The idlis turned out well, incredibly soft and fluffy. Their batter surpasses the quality of those available at grocery stores and other places. Additionally, the prices for the batters are quite reasonable.
Glad that this place is still consistent in terms of quality of food.Helpful 3Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 1, 2023Previous reviewDosa Express is the latest South Indian gem to adorn Fremont! We visited a couple of days back during its soft opening and again today for the grand launch.
The food here is excellent! One thing to point out is how fresh the chutneys tasted! Take my word for it, you will not be disappointed.
The menu boasts of some combo options, a variety of dosais, and the softest idlis! We also got free masala tea during the soft opening.
The service is very friendly! We will be visiting here often. - Apr 6, 20241 check-in
Always wanted to try this place in town and finally tried it. The food was okay. The one thing that I loved here was the onion rava dosa. The methu vada and masala dosa were okay. I wasn't a fan of the sambhar either. It was steamed lentils with not much flavor. The potato flavor didn't have much flavor. It was just steamed potato in salt and turmeric. The staff here was really nice and hence me giving this place a 3 star. If you're looking for simple flavors, then this place is for you.

Great tasting authentic dosas! One star less as the place smells too bad. Possibly drainage issues.
Try thokku dosas, so different from usual.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 190187307Nov 16, 2023
Hole in the wall restaurant, with plenty of seating space indoors. The food is delicious and fresh! We tried idli, vada, utthapam, and podi idli (see below). They serve food in utensils unlike many competitors in the area that serve in plastic wasteful containers, so big kudos to them for being mindful.
I would say the following:
1. Food is quite expensive - it is easily a minimum of $15 per person for a full tummy. We spent ~$42 on 3 dishes.
2. The podi idli could've been better. The idli was fried in ghee and podi and all I could taste was ghee. As a recommendation, the ghee and podi could be given on the side and fried could be an option.
Highly recommend Dosa Express for fresh, south Indian food!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 3, 2023
