El Amigo

Service is ok. Sometimes feel rushed when dining inside. The tacos are amazing. The guacamole is usually great but sometimes they've made it with too many jalapeños. One of the better places around for Mexican.

This place is located in a strip mall. When you walk inside you can see that it's an older facility. The furniture is worn, Hispanic music blares from a portable stereo unit located on the side wall.
We were seated fairly quickly and the servers were friendly. The menu has a decent amount of selections to choose from for breakfast-dinner.
Pricing is okay for what you're getting in some cases. In some cases, it seems a little high for what you're receiving.
They serve you a small basket of chips and salsa to start. If you wan another basket you have to pay for it.
The food was okay overall but the tostada de ceviche was just okay. The carne asada is made with flank steak which was marinated well.
Overall, just an okay place for Mexican food. But being from Southern California we are a little spoiled.

I love being called a bitch at 10:15 in the morning after waiting in the empty lobby for 15 minutes! Great way to start your day for sure!

We have visited many different Mexican restaurants in the Calumet area. Amigos, family owned and operated, serves authentic Mexican food. Portions are generous. The Caldo de Res tastes like our family recipe. Service is impeccable. We highly recommend Amigos.

I'm from Greece and while visiting family in Indiana, we ate at El Amigo.. The food was amazing. Authentic Mexican.. The service was great... The restaurant has a great decor.. Great job El Amigo.. I will definitely be coming again

Yum! Why have chips and salsa when you can have chips and flies?!! This situation doesn't call for zero stars--it calls for a negative amount of stars. The customer service was very lackluster when I called to let them know I found a BUG in my FOOD. Easily the worst establishment in the region, if not the entire world.

The food here is amazing!!! I ordered the pork burrito and it was sensational!! We also have tried their tacos and tamales and they were great as well!!

After going to El Salto and seeing what a ripoff that place was, it made me appreciate a cult following in the region that is El Amigo. Steak burrito w melted cheese and feed a small village. Good pricing compared to all these inflated restaurants.

Really really good. My brother told me it was a local place that was really good. He was right. He got the steak burrito, I got the veggie. Great portion sizes and super tasty at a great price!
