Eh, there's nothing special about this place. Reminds me of Perkins and Denny's. Except I rather go to Perkins or Denny's.
I noticed a lot of regulars that come here. Which makes you believe the food is good. We ordered the eggs Benedict and omelette. The hash browns were not crispy and very much boring. Omelette was ok, and so we tried to order more items but the server never came around or ignored us. This was a Saturday morning around 10am, the place is just packed! When we left there was people outside the door. Maybe I ordered the wrong items but I don't see what's so special bout this place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 15, 2018Updated review
Still my favorite diner and one of my favorite spots for breakfast. Awesome service, solid good food, comfortable booth seating, bottomless coffee! Love the "oldies" decor...which I have the feeling it hasn't changed since they opened in the 50's. Classic!

May 14, 2015Previous reviewAwesome food and service. Very clean and comfortable. Has a lot of character! The historical photos of Fridley that adorn the walls are really interesting. The sirloin steak dinner I had, which was very decent, came with a salad and potato and my mom had pancakes, eggs and bacon which she said was out of this world! Definitely will need to try that next time. Great restaurant and I can't wait to come back!

We haven't gotten to sit down and enjoy the food here yet, namely because Yelp hasn't updated the business hours as Embers requested at least a year ago, so we showed up to find the restaurant winding down for the night. Since we intended to find a spot to hole up for a couple of hours discussing a project, this was a dining experience that would have to wait for another day.
Even so, we ended up sitting for a good 10 minutes chatting with our lovely server, whose bright, genuine joy shone in her interactions and that laugh. That lovely lady alone warranted a 5-star review post.
RICKY: The charming female server with long, straight blond hair (sorry, her name was on the tip of my tongue and ninja'd out - will update this when I catch it again) is a great boon to your establishment. I'm glad she is part of your lovely environment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Scott J.Spring Lake Park, MN02Oct 26, 2019Updated review
The place to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Tasty food and speedy service. When there's people waiting to be seated they know what worth waiting for.
Reasonably priced and greeted with a smile. Ricky's Embers should be on your dining menu!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 7, 2019Previous reviewStopped in for Saturday lunch. There was a 10 to 15 minute wait but it was well worth it. Their "Specials" board behind the pay counter said Turkey Dinner with all the fixins $10.00. I was in the mood so I ordered it. It was just like Thanksgiving at Grandma's house. Two slices of Thick sliced turkey breast with a big scoop of mashed potatoes covered in a thick turkey gravy, Stuffing, Cranberry sauce and dinner roll. Coffee is always outstanding!
Can's say enough about Ricky's Embers. Fantastic food, great friendly wait staff! Greeted and seated by the owner. Will definitely be back! - Sandy B.Saint Paul, MN09Oct 13, 2020
Great burgers, flame grilled to your specifications. You want it medium, you'll get it medium. Furthermore, you can substitute soup for fries, which I appreciate as I view fries as nothing more than sponges for grease. The Emburger Royale is my go-to favorite; plenty of cheese and TWO slices of bacon! The soup that I had was chicken noodle and they don't skimp on the chicken. I also had a side of hash browns with sauteed onions and cheese. The onions were perfectly sauteed; enough to eliminate their sharp taste but no so much as to result in that bitterness that comes from their being over done. Finished my meal with an order of coffee which comes in a carafe, eliminating the need to have the wait person fetch refills. Plus, excellent service. The whole experience got me to fantasize about selling my Saint Paul condo so I could be closer to this gem.

This place is wonderful. I come here for breakfast two times a week most weeks. They just redecorated the interior and it looks sharp. Sarah is often our server and she's prompt, kind, pleasant and helpful. I like to venture out to new places but I keep coming back to "The Embers"
because it's so darn good and filling. I rarely can finish my breakfast bowl (Carnitas & Andouille are my favs). And don't forget the COFFEE CAKE! It's theeee best in the Twin Cities.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 653601026Jan 8, 2018
I was hungry, but not in the mood for fast food so I went here for dinner. Embers is much like Perkins. It's okay for what it is. Service is good and the food is the typical fare. I ordered the fish and chips, which were alright. I didn't go here expecting a phenomenal meal. I left full and that was that. Looks like there's a lot of regulars here which says good things about the place. I just don't know that I'd become one of them.

This place should probably appeal to me and all my phony workingclassness, but it doesn't.
It's very similar to Perkins, except that it's not a chain (or a former chain that didn't make it). It's a family restaurant or diner.
Food was average, service below average. Not enough uniqueness or charm to bring me back.
Cinnamon rolls are quite good, I'll give em that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John E.New Berlin, WI140Dec 22, 2019
Besides being the last Embers, there is just something special about the ambiance. I particularly like the breakfasts, but the Emburgers are terrific as well. The service is wonderful. When I am in the Twin Cities, I make it a point to eat here at least once.

It's refreshing to come a regular spot with fantastic service. Inexpensive and good not fancy breakfast.
