Flip Flop Deli Shop

This is great place if you want a break from the seafood. The sandwiches aren't out of this world but they are filling. The Mrs got the turkey sandwich, piled high with meat. She was sad bc they forgot to put the bacon on it. She could only eat a little over half. The smell of it was quite alluring.
I got the roast beef, cheese on white, toasted. It was tasty.
The place also has ice cream. Didn't have any though but many folks were coming in for that.
There are only 2 tables in this cramped space. There's a cooler with a very limited drink selection in it literally right by one of the tables. This was quite awkward as I basically had to excuse myself and interrupt a family enjoying their ice cream to grab my Powerade. One person had to get up out of their chair so I could open the door. I would suggest just keeping the drinks behind the counter somewhere.
The parking lot here is awful. We drove a Dodge Caravan and it was hard to maneuver in the back/side lot. There are 3 spots in front of the big staircase you have to go up to enter. The back/side lot has no outlet so once you park you have to back out, while hoping and praying you can get turned around and not blocked in. Oh wait, we got blocked in by another novice in a giant truck who didn't realize at first that we needed to be let out for him to get a space and he needed to move so we could leave. This was enjoyable.
Did I mention our sandwiches were tasty?
Tip 1: Park in the front if you can
Tip 2: if you're in a group read the menu online and send one person in. There is literally room for about 6 people to stand, then it becomes uncomfortably close. Why such a small venue for a deli and ice cream stand together I'll never understand; but I'm sure this place makes money.

Super cute place! The staff is very friendly. It was the perfect amount of food after a beach day. I had the Knuckle sandwich (aka PB& J) with a lucious root beer.
Definitely stop in!

Great food and the owner is very friendly and welcoming. My wife and I got the club and it was plenty to eat for two and delicious. We went back the next day and got a shaved ice. They are the best in the area; true New Orleans style and only one size, extra big. We'll be back.

Advertising yogurt, but when i got there, no yogurt! Whats up with that? The man working suggested that i move down and open a yogurt shop! Hahaha

Great little place, so charming. We went for ice cream cones and met the owners. They were so nice and chatted up our kids.

We will definitely come back on our next trip!

If u want ice cream go to the Beach Zone down the street. Don't go here. I don't know how u can ?!ck up a shake but they can do it here. I ordered a strawberry shake that was horrible! They must have used a strawberry shortcake ice cream and just added milk! Who does that! Worst shake I've ever had. Come to think of it I've never had a bd shake ever so that tells u how bad it was! My wife and son ordered chocolate shakes and they do the same damn thing using chocolate ice cream and added milk! Wtf!!! Wont go back there for ice cream! The guy even started turning off lights with customers still in line at 8pm. Who closes at 8pm when people want ice cream!!! Quality of the ice cream was not good either. We had tried the Beach Zone the night before and it was great. Huge portions and good ice cream. Go there instead!

The service was amazing. We had so much fun in just the few minutes we were there picking up lunch. The sandwiches were delicious. Wish we had gone earlier in the week so we could have gone again before our trip was over.

Great people, good food, good music. This place was very refreshing for my group of 6 to stumble upon after being treated poorly down the street at Bill's By The Beach owner, Bill.

We found the Flip Flop Sandwich Shop just down the road and everyone was very friendly.

The cook speaks to everyone as he's finishing their sandwich to make sure you're getting everything that you want

I also noticed a handful of high school kids (probably football players) who the cook seemed to know pretty well. He treated them as family.

When our sandwiches were ready he was asking my fiancé questions about where we were from and how we were enjoying Gulf Shores so far.

The owner and employees are just as cute and engaging as they can be. Always a go to when we go to the beach. I love the chili dogs. My family goes crazy over the ice cream. The staff really makes the experience.

Great little place. Good food and friendly service! Owner is a hoot and provides great service. Definite gem for quick food or ice cream. Make the stop!
