Sweet little hole in the wall! Great food and wonderful people. I stumbled on it while visiting my daughter and now it's become her favorite go to place.

Went to French Quarter Bistro for dinner tonight. Was just OK, not up to the hype in some of the reviews... we arrived early for our reservation, which was no problem, because the restaurant was mostly empty at the time. We were seated quickly and Vicki, our waitress, came by immediately and took drink orders, and provided information about the nightly specials. Service was good, attentive, but not intrusive.
We ordered a gin martini and escargot as an appetizer. The cocktail was good, the escargot not so much. The escargot was presented in a low rimmed dish in a watered down butter sauce. The dish did not have much flavor. The tasted garlic bread on the side was great!!
We also added a bottle of chablis to finish the dinner. The wine was served at the appropriate temperature and was good. One observation about the wine list... It is comprised of mostly large producers, who emphasize volume over quality, so while there is something for everyone on the wine list, it is not that impressive.
For dinner, we ordered the sea bass special and the local snapper, blackened. The Seabass was very good, accompanied by a vegetable risotto. The fish was prepared well, but the sauce on top was very bland. The local snapper, blackened, was overcooked, and the fish was a bit tough. The sides of corn and rice were well prepared, but again lacked depth of flavor.
For dessert, we ordered the pecan pie, à la mode... The ice cream was delicious, but the pie was just OK. All in all, it was an OK meal, the price was not bad, but we likely would not go back, given the other dinner options on the island.Helpful 25Thanks 5Love this 17Oh no 3 - James W.Pleasant Valley, Portland, OR109Apr 26, 2024
Food is delicious and the servers treat everyone like family. Moderate pricing. Fresh fish, good wine selection, a local favorite!

This place is very average. It's dark inside and smells weird. No outside seating. There is no cocktail menu and the wine list is terrible. The food was very average. Had the sesame tuna and salmon. Tuna was chewy. The banana bread pudding was just ok. This was our worst meal in St. Thomas, and you can find much better seafood elsewhere.

French Quarter Bistro in St Thomas provided an overall average dining experience. While the gumbo was the highlight, offering a flavorful and satisfying dish, the blackened fish fell short with its dry texture. Additionally, the double-cut pork chop lacked a sauce or accompaniment to enhance its flavors. The clientele present during our visit was also not up to par, which affected the ambiance. Although the restaurant has received positive reviews, based on our personal experience, I am hesitant to recommend it.

Loud, energetic restaurant which had a friendly staff but poor service. Forgot drink orders then was given a extra drink without asking for it thinking it was on the house but was charged. Ok, no big deal but at least give me fresh local fish? Nope. Dry, overcooked, fishy Mahi. How can a island restaurant not have fresh Mahi? Shrimp was definitely frozen and had a rubbery texture.

Loved the food here. I had the salmon. My sister had the etouffee. Both were fantastic. We had beignets and cheesecake for dessert, also fantastic.

This restaurant was our favorite place we ate while on the island!
Not only was the server the best, the food was amazing!
Highly recommended the following:
Shrimp & Grits
Fried zucchini (so light and crispy!)
Gumbo
Coconut shrimp
Banana bread pudding
Chocolate brownie
The only dish they wasn't my favorite was the crab cakes. I've had some amazing ones and this one just didn't cut it.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 1 - Barb T.Bellaire, MI244Mar 25, 2024
Great food with large portions. The designated parking lot is a huge plus since parking is at a premium.
