Absolutely love coming here for any meals with friends. My friend and I always come here and we practically order two of the same items since we love it so much. We always get the 30 skewers for $25, enoki, seasoned cold marinated cucumbers, the soy sauce fried rice, the cold noodles, and misc. skewers for however we're feeling that day. I love that they have a wide variety of drinks such as milk teas, fruit teas, regular drinks, and beers. It's definitely a place to casually eat with a huge group of friends. I love how everything comes out fast and the service is very on top of everything.
They are located on Brighton Ave, so you can conveniently take the 57 bus (which will drop you off literally in front), the B line, or there are many places to park!
Definitely check it out and you will not be disappointed!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

This BBQ place is a bit unique, with an offering of a variety of BBQ skewers and some cooked dishes and sides. The kitchen does the grilling and then the cooked food is brought to your table, so you're not doing the grilling.
Our favorite dish is actually the cucumber salad which was a little spicy, salty and sweet. It was expensive for cucumbers but very tasty and I think worth the money. The special lamb and cumin skewers were tender and tasted quite good. The grilled croaker was decent but had to watch out for the little bones. We also tried the fish tofu, string beans, and beef skewers which were just OK. The potato fried rice was satisfying.
$75 for two of us with beer, mango smoothie and tips, so not bad considering we had a good amount of food. Wait staff was very efficient. 6pm on Fri night, restaurant was not crowded. I'm glad this restaurant is in the neighborhood. It's not your standard fare and we quite enjoyed it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 408297353Feb 26, 2023
Came around 3pm on a Sunday as a party of two and was seated right away. We ordered online via QR code and started getting our food shortly after, since we were the only ones there for a little bit.
We ordered way too much, but my favorite dish has to be the Dan Dan Noodles. The cold noodles and sauce were the perfect companion to all the skewers we ordered. I'm not really a meat eater so it all kinda blended together, but each one I had tasted good and had a good texture! I also enjoyed the green beans and corn, which were seasoned really well.
Would definitely come back! The atmosphere is casual and the food is yummy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 13, 2022
Wow, one of my new favorite Chinese restaurants!
I know the name says barbecue but I've tried dishes other than the barbecue for now and they're really good.
We got delivery and the food arrived very quickly, it was still hot! The grilled pomfret was good but not one of my favorite dishes, mainly because it was a little fishy for my taste. The egg fried rice was the hidden gem - comforting, tasty, and I will definitely order it again (and I already have!). Such a simple unassuming dish but so good. The hot and sour soup was the star of the show - it's definitely hot (phew!) but the flavor is amazing. You can sip it as is or mix it with the egg fried rice. The shredded potato fried rice was tasty but may not be a regular dish on my take-out order; the egg fried rice is just better.
I really enjoyed my meal from Friendship BBQ, especially dishes which you might typically not order. I'm excited to try other ones, but I also know what my go-to order is going to look like!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Aug 4, 2021First to Review
Super clean space, but ordering on their website can be confusing if you cannot read Chinese. Each table has a hot grill for skewers although my impression was that most of the skewers come pre-cooked. The menu also has a seafood boils, hot pot, and noodles.
We weren't sure which skewers to get so we went with a set that came with 10 skewers each of pork, beef, and lamb ($22). All of them had a similar spiced cumin seasoning to them. It was kind of hard to tell the difference between the meats since all of them had the same seasoning, but they tasted good. The pieces of meat were somewhat thin so most of the meat dried out.
We also shared an order of dan dan noodles ($10). The dish was cold and the broth was kind of sweet. The noodles were super chewy but I wish the broth was more spicy.
The food tasted good but I wasn't blown away. I wish the skewers had thicker cuts of meat. Ordering was also kind of a nightmare.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jeff N.South Portland, ME641961Dec 8, 2022
Really good Wonton Soup and the potato fried rice was super yum.
Enjoyed the Mongolia Beef skewer the most. Second place to the chicken, and a bronze medal showing for the lamb.
The staff was helpful with navigating the menu, which seems daunting for rookie diners. Just ask.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 2 - Ivan C.MA, MA13278Feb 28, 2023
if i was rich, they would get 5 stars. since I'm not, its going to be 4 stars since it is pretty expensive for the small portions. they are not worth it, but they are super good nonetheless. in the first picture, that in total was around 8 dollars after tip and everything, and the wings were probably half the size of a regular chicken wing, and for the enoki mushroom thingy, the individual pieces each were the size of my thumb. the taste was an absolutely ethereal and mouthwatering experience, but it was cut short due to the small portion and hole in my wallet. if you are financially stable, this will be the best bbq experience you will have in a while.

Came here for skewers and got a variety of different skewers (literally almost everything on the menu). The issue I had was everything was precooked in the back and they bring it out to you. Then they use candles to keep the food warm but it barely works so the food just ended up being cold and oily. Was disappointed and won't be back.

I really enjoyed the food here, everything was super flavorful and all of the meat was really tender. I didn't really have the issue of the skewers getting cold that other reviews mentioned but that might have been because we ate pretty quickly. The foil emoji mushrooms with fish balls wasn't really what I expected and it was so much spicier than I thought it was going to be. The tofu skin wrapped chives were a little dry and very cilantro heavy. The northeastern dan dan noodles were super refreshing. For skewers I would recommend the squid, the beef, the big lamb ones, and the friend mantou for dessert were also really good. The only thing was they didn't have condensed milk until we asked for it. The selection of alcohol is pretty small so we stuck with the 青岛 which tasted like home! Overall, would recommend. Not the cheapest place but it feels very authentic to me.

I cannot say much about other stuff I haven't tried, but I always always almost always get the following:
Northern Dan Dan Noodles--- damn these are comforting. Cold CHEWY CHEWY noodles (love that texture) and that nice peanut sauce with the spicy chillies and fried soybeans (a bit tough but good texture contrast)
Garlic Eggplant--- delicious, plenty of garlic and chillies too
Xinjiang Special Lamb-- g/d this is delicious
Dried Tofu with Scallion Oil-- so so flavorful, maybe you need to get some steamed rice if you want to up the comfort factor and to fully use the scallion oil to its potential (which, if you're going low-carb, you'll either just leave alone or slurp if you are about that life)
Grilled oyster with garlic-- a bit pricey, so I usually only get one (about $7-8 a piece) but they are usually out of this.
Their skewers are pretty good too and comes in meat, seafood, fowl, veggies, and rice/gluten/tofu-- so even vegetarians/vegans will feel satisfied with the selection here.
I definitely need to try their other items.
Damn i'm getting hungry again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
