About the Business
Oahu is known for its vibrant okazuya, or Japanese delicatessen, scene. However, none have caught the attention of both tourists and natives quite like Fukuya in Honolulu, HI. Serving both authentic Japanese cuisine and contemporary creations, this family-style restaurant is a must-visit for all food lovers. What sets Fukuya apart is their commitment to customer satisfaction. Not only do they use the island's freshest ingredients, but they also give visitors the power to customize their meal. Instead of pre-packaged bento boxes, for example, you get to pick and choose your own lunch. Plus, there are plenty of items to choose from, including robust vegetables, juicy shoyu chicken, and handcrafted sushi. Though the delicatessen is their pride and joy, Fukuya also offers food catering. Whether you're organizing a birthday bash or planning a traditional funeral, Fukuya will ensure that your guests are well fed, allowing you to focus on the event at hand. Call Fukuya at (808) 946-2073 today to book catering for your next event. To browse the okazuya's delicious fares, visit their website.

LOVE THE NORI FRIED CHICKEN !!!
I ordered ume musubi, inari sushi, regular fried chicken, potato hash patty, shrimp tempura, shoyu hot dog and nori fried chicken.
Everything was excellent but my favorites were the nori fried chicken and the inari sushi.
Friendly and efficient service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Jun 4, 2022Previous reviewEXCELLENT INARI SUSHI AND FURIKAKE MUSUBI.
My favorite inari sushi was George's Okazuya. However they've been closed for many years and since then I've been in search of a replacement. Fukuya's comes close ... not too sweet, not too bland and not packed tight. I also liked their Furikake musubi ... nicely seasoned with Furikake and also not packed tight.
The mochiko and nori chicken was a little sweet for me but they were passable. Potato hash was good. Shrimp and vegetable tempura were little oily. Shoyu hot dog was good ... not too salty.
Service was efficient.May 22, 2017Previous reviewFood. 4 stars.

I liked the food here in general. Seaweed chicken was very good. Potato hash patty could use a little more corned beef to potato ratio. Chow fun was pretty good but just a touch bland. Musubi was good. Cone sushi was a little sweet. Butterfish was excellent. Hot dog was good. Shrimp tempura was had too much batter and it was very oily.
Parking can get tight at times.
These are the okazuya that I've recently eaten at .... starting with my favorite and working down.

First time here and I wanted one of everything! Local okazuya in Mo'ili'ili/University area. I went around noon. I hear the earlier you go, the more options you get to choose from. Everything sold ala cart.
I got the chow fun noodles. Great flavor and the texture of the veggies were perfect, not soggy. The nori chicken was delicious. I really enjoyed the crunch and taste. The ahi poke was fresh and not frozen, sold by weight.
Shrimp tempura more Okinawan style. Mapo tofu sauce spicy and sweet.
I can't wait to go back and try more things.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Yuji S.Honolulu, HI1137347Jan 12, 2024
S King St

Haven't been to Fukuya's in a while. I was like a kid in a candy store. There is always a long line, but, the service was fast and staff was friendly. The inside gets a little cramped when crowded, but worth the wait. I cannot wait to dig in. The only thing missing is the beach.

Fukuya a long time favorite Okazuya located at the top of King St. Known for their Nori Wrapped Chicken and Old Fashion Cone Sushi. Small private parking lot that is usually crowded but don't worry they serve their customers well and very quickly. You'll be tempted just by looking at all the local favorites displayed in the spacious showcases. Catering is also available. Definitely a Go To option for great Okazuya

I ordered this sushi tray for someone leaving my workplace and it was such a hit. I ordered the day before -pick up the next day at 10a.
Just a suggestion though-bring a large box to carry, because the tray is not that solid. - Aug 27, 2023Updated review
FUKUYA - A place where you can get that LOCAL STYLE JAPANESE Okazuya kind of FOOD aka GRINDS. Located on 2710 S. King street around university area / Manoa.
Parking - If you go on a busy time then Parking could be a challenge but other then that if you don't go when it's not busy then Parking shouldn't be a problem since they have about 5-6 stalls of parking right in front of FUKUYA, also there is street parking but make sure you read them street parking signs before u decide to park.
FOOD (what I normally get when I grab food from Fukuya)
*Chow Mein
*Noro wrapped Chicken
*Crab cake
*Hash
*Chow Fun (not bad could be better)
*California Maki sushi
*Veggie Tempura
*Shrimp Tempura
*They have a lot of Staff on hand during business hours so there should always be someone there too help you and serve you of your needs on what you want to order.
Would I recommend this SPOT to other people?
Definitely YES YES YES YES, so if you looking for that Local Kine Japanese style Okazuya deli food then I suggest you def check this spot out.
Ambiance - Nothing special just your typical go inside the Resturant grab and order your food then helle on out.Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 18Oh no 0Jun 13, 2023Previous reviewFirst time rolling thru FUKUYA (prior to my good friend coppin some eats fR. this spot) and I must say they do have a good amount of food choices here at Fukuya.

SPICY AHI POKE- A LB was @ $18.99, it was good just that I kinda had to get use to the taste of their spicy ahi marination.

My favorite delicatessen. Their chow fun and hash is really good.
They also have various types of poke, meats, and tempura for a reasonable price.
Parking is limited so go early. There's a short line usually about 10 min wait.
Inexpensive about $10-13/ personHelpful 6Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0Nov 29, 2021Previous reviewThis is the best Japanese delicatessen on the island. They have a wide variety of options to choose and everything is priced inexpensively al a cart. The food is flavorful and always consistent.
They are following CDC guidelines.
Parking is limited but they do have their own private parking lot right in front. This is a take out only establishment and is perfect for a picnic lunch. They provide napkins, utensils, and a bag to carry everything. - Sep 28, 2023
Haven't been here for a long time...maybe 20+ years. Heard about the Nori Chicken, Potato/Mac Salad and their Maki Sushi so decided to try it today.
I ordered the following:
* Nori Chicken $3.35 ea. - this was okay, not sure what the hype is
* Shrimp Tempura $1.90 ea. - small shrimp, oily, more batter
* Maki Sushi $1.10 ea. - nothing special, had better (1 shrimp and 1 maki sushi cut in half to give my husband & daughter to try...they felt the same way as I did)
* Chow Fun $3.35 - not too much taste
* Cone Sushi $1.90- again, not too much taste
* Ahi Burger $3.50 ea. - this was very tasty...would order this again
* Potato/Macaroni Salad 1/2# $5 - thought this was good too
Tried some items from the other plates ordered:
* Croquette $1.70 - crunchy outside, soft inside...very tasty
* Spring Roll $1.90 - soggy and oily
* Vegetable Tempura $1.75 - also soggy and oily
* Shoyu Pork $3.10 - pork was soft and tasty
As a whole, food is pricey compared to other delicatessen's I've been to. May come back just for the Ahi Burger, Croquette and salad.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 2 - 3363301492Dec 9, 2023
