Ghion Financial

Ghion Financial has been my go-to for filing for the past few years. Great customer service and an efficient team that's courteous of your time but still provides exceptional service. Their reminder emails are also so helpful when tax season comes around!

I have been getting my taxes done at Ghion since 2014. They are extremely affordable for the DMV because they have low overhead costs. Their work has always been efficient and courteous. Mehari is a knowledgeable tax preparer and he remembers me year after year, which I appreciate. Both their locations are open 8am-7pm. They also send reminder emails when it's time to do taxes and include a list of the documents they'll need.

The Falls Church location is in the Build America Plaza, a little Middle Eastern shopping center. The Plaza's parking lot is not designed well and parking spots fill up fast. I recommend using Ghion's services for people that are culturally accepting, have moderately complex tax issues, and are fine with a no-frills office.

Ghion tax has great customer service..they really take their time to make sure you get best outcome for your taxes. I have been getting my taxes done with them for 6 years now and I am always satisfied.

I had a group coupon to use and was a little apprehensive, but I didn't want to pay $400+ again on tax preparation services. I used the office in Silver Spring, where everyone was very pleasant. Mr. Demise handled my taxes - he is a kind, soft-spoken man. I was very happy -- this coming from a person who owed Uncle Sam a lot of money! (2014 was the beginning of my second year as a freelancer, so I didn't pay enough of the estimated quarterly taxes - Mr. Demise tried to help as much as he could, but I understood I owed a lot of money beforehand, so I was prepared for the news.)

I would highly recommend Ghion. If I still live in the area next year, I will use them again. I prefer using local or family owned businesses and this fit the bill - small, friendly, and personal.

My taxes are very complicated. I am self employed and I have a business and also might have w2 plus one dependent. My forms after i file could be like 50 pages. I have been using ghion tax services for this. And the rates are great but I save a lot more because they know all the do and donts and additional breaks the IRS gives.

Expertise and but customer service is great but I go here for the experience Ghion Tax services has!

I only have appreciation for Ghion Tax for finally letting me catch up with my tax returns and get IRS off my neck.
I always filed my taxes on time until IRS rejected my return of 2009 months later- that was before I moved to vA area. With my busy schedule at work, I kept postponing the communication I should have started with IRS right away. That led to me not filing of later years' returns. when I was stressed with IRS letters threatening garnishment , I was referred to Ghion Tax Service by my boss.
I just gave the tax associate the info i have....and left him with all the supporting documents I have. After 3 days, I got a call from Ghion tax, they negotiated a payment plan and sorted everything for me. Four years later I have finally solved the biggest headache I had, thanks to Ghion tax.

Bottom line: I had to pay H&R Block $280 to fix the mess that Ghion did on my taxes (in addition to what I paid Ghion, although I am trying to get reimbursed for some of that) AND H&R Block found an additional $1300 for me, so if you don't want to completely screw up your taxes and potentially get in trouble with the IRS or lose a ton of money, do not use Ghion.

Details:
I went to the U St location. First, the employee didn't show up to work on time so I had to wait 45 minutes while the other people in the office kept telling me he would be there any minute. Then he took almost 2 hours to do my taxes that last year took only 1 hour at H&R Block last year (my return was the same level of complexity as last year's). Then, once I got home and looked it over, he made three mistakes that I caught myself just with my basic knowledge of tax deductions so these were very basic mistakes that he made (he had me paying taxes that I didn't have to pay in some places and in other places, gave me deductions that I wasn't eligible for, so it was just a whole mess). I called the main Falls Church office and the manager went through my return and fixed some things, telling me that I would get an additional $300 after he fixed it. At this point, I had wasted much of my Saturday on this, and I still felt uncomfortable with the accuracy of my taxes even though the manager fixed the few things that I pointed out were incorrec, so I went to H&R Block for a second look. Well H&R Block found more than 5 mistakes and got me an additional $1300. So if I didn't have H&R Block redo my return, Ghion would have made me lose $1300!!

I also had to pay an additional $280 to H&R Block for them to redo the mess that Ghion made of my taxes because it was so extensive. So I paid Ghion $119 to do my taxes and then $280 to get H&R Block to fix them. Trying to get reimbursed by Ghion for the H&R Block fee to fix the mess they made, we'll see how that goes. Also, I'm worried now that I will get flagged by the IRS because the Ghion employee submitted such a screwed up return for me.
