This place seems to have lost a step. The owner still knows his wines well and super friendly as ever. The wait staff however tend to not be as knowledgeable about the wines or other aspects of the menu.
Decent selection of wines but recommend sitting at the bar for a better experience overall.
The wings were super crunchy BUT flavor was okay. We got the spicy Brazilian wings. They tasted like they were doused in a hot sauce rub (not in a good way) and felt fairly dry like they could have benefited from a dipping sauce. You can't do half and half to try multiple flavors but that may just be because they're made to order.
Also, avoid the house wine. They may rotate them but last two times, they were not as expected and slightly oxidizedHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 14, 2023
This place is awesome! They don't take reservations so we walked in on a Saturday at around 6pm and the place was about 1/4 full. My party of 2 was able to be seated right away.
The place is dark and cozy without feeling too crowded. The large wine selection was on great display. I really liked the vibe!
They have HH from 5-7 from Tuesday through Sunday I believe. The HH deals are pretty decent! They had a special wine that was $7/glass. I really liked it actually! We also got the wings from the HH menu in the soy garlic flavor and they were great. We got the corn cheese as well which was good but nothing spectacular.
We also wanted to get a glass of wine and couldn't choose between 2 and they were very kind enough to let us taste both of them.
We got the kimchi fried rice and the soft tofu soup. Both were really REALLY good. I'm Korean and was impressed by the soup.
The owner and wait staff were all so friendly and kind to us.
I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 367134407Sep 29, 2023
Great Korean wine bar in the East Village! Wines by the glass are about $11-15 so not too bad. Service is friendly as well.
We ordered the Bo ssam and I was hoping it was more of the traditional braised pork belly, but it was fried like Samgyubsal. Still delicious but thought it was a bit pricey for the amount of meat you get. Broccoli rabe was okay - nothing mind blowing.
Good place to start the night at!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 15, 2024
Came around opening on a Thursday and there was nobody at the restaurant, but it got much busier as the night progressed. The restaurant accommodates both small and large groups and seems to be a great date spot. They have happy hour with some drinks and small appetizers - we got the chicken wings (tastes OK) but felt like we could have skipped it. They have a large menu selection but we opted for the pork belly ssam (available Thu-Sun), kimichi fried rice and the picanha fatiada (steak). All of the food was decent, but nothing great enough for me to want to come back.
The owner was extremely friendly and helpful though, so if you want a place with great service and vibes, this would be the spot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 29, 2023
I came here to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday night and it was surprisingly empty. There was a party of 5 who were already sitting on the large bench table so at firat they weren't able to accommodate our party of 10. However, they made it work for us and combined a few tables together. We eventually shifted to the bigger table when the other party left.
This wine bar is great for a date night, just for drinks and if you're looking for a snack and drink, this is the place for you. The owner was so accommodating and attentive. He also knew his wine.
Anyhow, there is happy hour from 5pm to 7pm daily. So of course, we started off with some items from the happy hour menu. We ordered two types of wings, a cheeseboard, a charcuterie board and two bottles of wine to start. Not naming which wings, but they were crispy but lacking in sauce...I love cheese, so no complaints here and it came with naan.
Moving on, we ordered our starters and entrees to share. We had their kimchi dumpling, seafood pancake, cheesy corn, gyoza, fries, japchae, broccolini, pork belly ssam, kimchi fried rice, seared tofu steak, and picanha fatiada. Pretty much the entire menu.
Kimchi dumplings came with a spicy sauce that numbed me, but overall would eat again. Seafood pancake was delicious. Cheesy corn had a really nice cheese pull, gyoza could skip on, fries is you know, fries. Japchae was actually really good, along with the fried rice. The broccolini was also seasoned perfectly. The pork belly ssam also was a complete set to make the wraps. The tofu steak was just okay and our favorite was the picanha fatiada. There are items that are similar to tapas, but will fill you up.
With everything we ordered plus tax and tip, it came out to be around $50 per person, which is a steal, as we had drinks and food and we had to carry our bellies out. Will definitely come back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 2, 2022
Good food but found it a little odd how the Tonkatsu entree and the Skillets came without rice and how that needed to be ordered separately, hence the 3/5 and not a 4.
The Bibimbap was enjoyable (4/5) and the Chicken Tonkatsu was also decently prepared (4/5) but -1 for the lack of complimentary rice.
Went with a bunch of friends and took a bunch of bites of their respective orders. Had higher expectations from the Fried Chicken since I've had great Korean Fried Chicken around the city.
Nonetheless, this place is decent and maybe next time I'd like to try their wine collection.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 22, 2022
GOMI HAS MY HEART! Came here impromptu on a Friday GNO after a gallery showing! We saw the outdoor seating and it looked like it had a cute vibe, so we decided to check it out. It surpassed our expectations
Food/Drinks: 5/5
We had an orange wine here (never had orange wine) but it was absolutely delicious! Paired with a cheese board with three cheeses. Funny enough I thought their tres leches was the dessert but it turned out to be a cheese LOL. It paired perfectly with the bread, a sweet jam, and the wine we chose.
Service: 6/5
When I tell y'all, I felt like I was at a family friend's house sitting sat this restaurant outside. Cozy and charming is the best way to describe the service! We didn't know which wine we wanted to have for the night. I LOVED how our waiter took the time to explain the history of the restaurants, the owner, and the different wines. As well as let us sample a few before we decided on a bottle. It was truly an entire experience!! Out of this world, genuine service. Reccs were on point and we got a complimentary shot of a dessert wine that was scrumptious!!
Vibe: 5/5
You already know the vibes! There is seating indoors and outdoors. Hole in the wall, that makes you feel at home. Perfect for a date night or a GNO!! I will DEFINITELY be back to try some more of their food options! Sheesh might even become a regular here!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 2, 2022
I've walked by this place several times and was happy that we spontaneously decided to try this one random Saturday evening.
We were surprised that happy hour was available for a Saturday. I got to try the Korean beer. It tasted like an even lighter Heineken.
We split some happy hour cheeses and meats as well as chicken wings. They were ok. Not something that would draw me back.
We then got some things off the happy hour menu. The server was right. The broccolini was bomb! I would come back here again for it even if it's not on the happy hour menu during happy hour so I can pair it with the Korean beer. We also shared the japchae, which was also average.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Nov 26, 2021
Such a chilling and cozy restaurant.
Happy hour wine for $7 and beer for $5 until 7pm.
Me and my friend had two wines each.
Why not right?
The staffs are very friendly and attentive.
Try their spicy sauce. It is epic.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Daniel G.Shrewsbury, MA404661Feb 11, 2023
Great wine bar with great ambiance. I think they have meals but we only came in for wine. Many Portuguese varieties. A nice place to start the night and they appear to have great side dishes to go with your drinks. Can get a little noisy
Service was good, and since the place is more of a bar than restaurant, they're lower touch (won't come by as frequently) which we liked.
Cash preferred and there's a $20 minimum for credit. So if you decide to come in for happy hour, you'll have to get a few things to use a card.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
