Grab A Cab

This was the most disgusting taxi experience I've ever had in my entire life! The vehicle stunk, and I mean STUNK of urine and dog poop. Along with the dogs, I suspect the driver may have contributed in Large part to the overwhelming stench. Let's just say that hygiene is not her thing. The driver was rude and apparently a rabid Trump supporter and conspiracy theorist and she spewed her unsolicited opinions the whole time. Her dogs sit on the dashboard and run freely around the vehicle and there is hair and poop everywhere (hopefully only from the dogs).
I needed a Long Hot Shower after that ride and threw my clothes in the wash immediately. I probably should've done a flea and lice check too.
I give her one star for getting me to my destination alive, however my olfactory nerves will probably never recover.

GROSS!! We scheduled this cab for 10:30 and called when they didn't show up. We were told she would be there in 20 minutes. We got in the cab and it was all that we could do not to gag from the AWFUL smell of her vehicle. It smelled like dog urine was covering her vehicle. She had a small dog in the front which is fine, but the cab smelled awful and was filthy.

Where do I begin.... An extremely vile experience.... I love dogs and this driver had two with her, they were barking non stop and running circles up on the dash and distracting the driver and she was all over the road as well as speeding. I asked her to pls slow down but she couldn't hear me over the noise of her dogs barking. Then when we arrived at my destination she blamed me and my company with me for the dogs chaotic behavior. What?!?!?! There is a plexiglass barrier between her dogs and the passengers... So wow!!! She was rude and smelled of urine and the back of the cab had a dried up dog poop that somehow had rolled from the front of the van. Who gave this woman a license??? God help all who dare take the ride from hell..

Arrived at Bar Harbor airport at 7PM on a Sunday, after rental counters had closed. Uber couldn't provide a driver, so I started working my way up the list of cabs posted in the airport. This lady was the only one who said she could pick us up. She does have 2 small dogs with her, and she is friendly and talkative with some, uh, interesting opinions. Very entertaining ride. Would call her again if I were in the same situation. But seriously -- arrive while the rental counters are open.

Do NOT use this service ever! Horrendous customer service. Weeks ago we agreed to be picked up at 9am today. At 8:40 the driver texted saying shes leaving at 8:40 on the dot to pick up other customers. When we called to say we'd be there at 9:00, per the agreement, she said "i never signed anything, theres no agreements in a city of 5,000 people, and early is late." She also decided not to pick us up at the airport when we arrived (per our agreement) because she was double-booked. Again, this arrangment was made weeks in advance. Horrific. Very shady. Do NOT use this service, youll be stranded!

Had to take this cab after the Island Explorer didn't show up for its last scheduled trip. Informed that we had two bikes - one of which had a flat tire - when we scheduled our pick up. When the taxi arrived the driver didn't move/ was not helpful with bikes - how to put seats down, where to place, etc. Ended up having to put one of the two second row seats down which left only the seat behind the driver and the passenger seat open. When I asked to sit in the passenger seat she said no it was for her two dogs and that she didn't care if I sat squished and unbuckled between the bikes - which I actually had to do. Then shortly after leaving our pick up spot she proceeded to say "why didn't you bike home" which we replied "it's raining" (and one bike was unable to ride and it was also getting dark for a 15 mile ride) and she said "well you should've planned that out better" . Just a few examples of our terrible experience. Unfortunately, I do not know the area or other options for getting back to our location so we couldn't get out - which I would have in any other place that has Uber/ Lyft available.

Our driver was helpful, thoughtful, flexible, and willing to work with us to get us where we needed when we needed.

We have used Paula's Grab A Cab VERY often (especially my son who lost his license for a few months a couple of years ago). She is very very reliable and a great conversationalist. Be ready to have to defend your point of view. She is NOT for the prissy-lady types from California (see above).

As an aside, she picked up my daughter (a native Mainer) and her out-of-town friends from a local restaurant/bar one night two years ago. She asked how the night had gone and when my daughter replied that the bar owner had been very mean, disrespectful, and rude, Paula hoped out of the Cab and went in to give the owner a piece of her mind about how to treat people. I believe she did a good job of enlightening the owner.

Highly recommend her. AND will defend her to the end - even though she's wrong about some politics.

Too bad there isn't an option for ZERO STARS!!Where do I begin?? The stench was overwhelming when the doors opened My husband said and I quote " this is like one of those Fabreeze commercials gone horribly wrong :(. The taxi was filthy!! They had 2 small wet smelly dogs roaming freely about the vehicle, sitting on the dash as we were driving on rainy windy roads. I am a dog lover but I was dreading one of them jumping in my lap! I felt very sorry for the dogs! I fear it will take several washings of my clothes and I have no idea how to get the smell out of my nasal cavities. How about a car wash and a some air freshener??? Do not take this cab unless you enjoy stinky things!!

I have used this cab for many years and have come to know Paula, the owner pretty well. She has always been SUPER reliable, great in emergency's, and fair in price. She has a few small dogs which roam around the cab and love on everyone (a pleasant bonus for me personally). I will also say she is a pretty funny lady, she gives it to ya how it is, for sure! If you have been out drinking late you should call Paula, not only will she get you from point A to D (because you forgot you needed to make three stops on the way home) she will entertain you with her bold personality the whole way!
