About the Business
Grasshopper has been in business for 25 years. We started as a little shop on 8th street selling tie dyes, oils and incense. Twenty five years later we are still making our own tie dyes in sizes newborn-5X and we have the largest quality incense selection you will find anywhere as well as an expansive offering of essential oils, aromatherapy oils and now cbd oils and products. Clothing, Grateful Dead t-shirts and gifts, jewelry, tapestries, gifts, salt lamps, fair trade goods are all staples at Grasshopper, too.

The lady that answered the phone advised me "I'm busy right now so I can't help you bye!" and then proceeded to hang up on me very rudely. I'm very offended by this customer service. DO NOT RECOMMEND

You were calling a small business and tying up our only line and only employ two days before Christmas! I have nothing no else to say. We are not available for your pleasure 24/7. Have a little decency.

I had a little unusual situation come up, a piece of clothing that they sold after one washing as instructed by the manufacturer the threads from the Erie logo unraveled. I took it back to the store today, and to tell the whole story the sweatshirt was purchased back in mid April, long story as to why it took so long to get it back. Anyway, first I wasn't greeted or asked if they could help me, I had one girl take a look at me with the sweatshirt in my hand and informed me that she's not sure what to do and she went and got someone else to help me. She couldn't either, so basically their employees don't know the stores policies. I was asking for a replacement not cash back and the manager looked like she was making up the rules as she went. She never said she was sorry this happened to me, nothing She never offered anything to make it right. She told me its over 30 days, no where is it posted and its not on their receipts. She told me to call the manufacture because they make the sweatshirts for them, after me questioning for a second time, she said she'd give me 50% off another one. After her lousy customer service, do you think I'd want to give more money to her? Its sad because I like to shop local and I now I won't shop there. it was at the 8th street location.

While we are sorry for your experience we cannot be responsible for what happens to a clothing item once it is in the customer's care. We have never had this particular issue. While we are training new employees please bear with us. We are trying our best during this difficult and unprecedented time. Thanks for your comments. * After speaking with one of the employees involved she said the item looked very worn and torn up. ALSO the item was purchased 3 months ago and no receipt. This sounds like an issue on your end.. Also, you posted your review on the wrong store page. Please move it to the west 8th Yelp page.

This is the second time that I have been to grasshopper and been treated kind of bad. I felt so unwelcome and ignored that I had to walk out the door, without being greeted or helped, say thank you, and move on to Chicory Hill...I can't support people who go out of their way to be unwelcoming. I walked very close to the display case by the two women that were completely ignoring me. I was very interested in the crystals in the box, not one, "can I help you with anything?" "Let me know if you need any help!" Just terrible. People that that shouldn't be working with people. Have a nice day! Chicory Hill had similar stuff. The clothing at Grasshopper, I can find online. Or at least similar...and id rather do that than be mistreated while I'm out shopping and trying to support local businesses. The energy that they've got going on in there is not good. I've been going to grasshopper since I was a little kid and expect WAY more.

You are the same person who commented a few years ago and also mentioned our neighbors. Please stop. I can write bad reviews for your biz too but I would not. You are terrible people.

This place stinks! Two times in a row we presented a coupon and they rang up the purchase and never took the percentage off. When we brought it to their attention, we got the rolling eyes and a huff and puff, and "we don't give a refund only a store credit" crap line. We are told it's an honest mistake. Really? Two times in a row? And then you don't refund the money or make good on your own coupon because of your store policy of getting a credit? We will never ever shop there again. We're going to stick with the store Relish where we feel welcomed and appreciate by friendly staff. UGH!

You came in with two coupons. We explained our policy of one coupon per visit. So, you had your son purchase one item with a coupon and he was given the correct discount. Then, you purchased another item with a different coupon and yes, we FORGOT to give you your discount. (Shame on you for trying to cheat us after we explained our policy to you.) So, you returned to tell us of the mistake and YOU WERE GIVEN YOUR DISCOUNT! We apologized for the mistake. What more do you want? We did not try to cheat you out of your $2 discount. As far as we are concerned it is YOU who are the cheater and liar in this story. Did you get an eye roll? That is usually an unconscious response to offensive behavior and we can't be held responsible for that, but we hope someone gave you a good eyeroll, as you clearly deserved it.

Fun, quirky, hippie store with some awesome tie-die in all sizes. There are 2 stores... one, mostly for residents, and another, closer to the beach that alot of tourists stumble through.

I've been shopping at grasshopper's since high school & have always loved the atmosphere & uniqueness of this place. When you walk in, you immediately smell the incense & hear some kind of funky jam playing in the background! Whoever is working is always super laid back & friendly. It's like a kaleidoscope on the eyes at first, you don't know where to focus (but in a good way)! Lol. From the bright & colorful tie dyes, the huge selection of *one of a kind* jewelry, the beautiful imported clothing & purses, fun little instruments & boho decor (salt lamps, etc). They have super fun bumper stickers & posters & a huge selection of incense! Just SO much to marvel at, its a trip for your senses. I just love this place & am so happy it does well & Erie has this little gem to enjoy. I'm 37 years old now & know I won't ever stop shopping here. Heck, I honestly love just driving by sometimes & enjoying the giant grasshopper mural! Thank you for being a light in my small world hops, you rock. :)

I was gone from Erie for 15 years and to come home and find Grasshopper on peach was a welcome sign. I was thinking this would just be another head shop but its much more then just those items or clothes. My daughter who was 7 at the time asked for some summer outfits and wanted to check out the shop. Being a Dad I'm not the most skilled person in what looks cute on a girl. I asked the girls in the shop if they would help out my daughter. I wanted to give her the final say in what she looked good in. Often children don't have a say in their style and favorite colors they are forced to shop at the gap or old navy and lets face it all that stuff really looks the same and does not make you look or feel unique. I remember it was raining like hell that day and the girls put together about 5 outfits for my daughter that looked great and they would mix well with the other clothes. Now for adults, I'm an engineer so I'm a big fan of function over style but I found a few pieces could wear that didn't scream I'm a deadhead. The shop staff treated my daughter with respect and talked to her and not at her as we found when we went to the mall.
My job transferred me back to Phoenix and before we left the final week my daughter wanted to visit one last time. While we have head shops here in Phoenix the staff isn't the same and its the people that make the business.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jillian S.Erie, PA051Jun 21, 2016
