Extremely friendly staff here that took the time to show our group around and even show us the growing room where they are growing plants for future sale. There is a huge selection of plants and supplies here of various commonality. This is a great local business for plant lovers!

What a magical greenhouse!
I visited with a friend and instantly fell in love! Such a wide variety of plants for you to choose from and all of them are reasonably priced!
They have ivys, succulents, air plants, cacti, and the occasional rare plants like string of turtles that keep me coming back!
Not to mention there are also greenhouse cats that enjoy a good head scratching.
If you need a plant, don't forget to support local and check this place out!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 7, 2020
A plant shop with personality and cats!
I had recently heard about Gunter's on the Bull City Reddit as a must go plant place and one of the best kept Durham secrets. It's basically the place where a very notable downtown Durham plant store owner gets her supply and then up charges a lot more at her trendy store. After reading this, my wife and I wanted to check out Gunter's and see just what all the fuss was about. Gunter's while being in Durham is pretty much on the Raleigh/Durham border and knocking on Brier Creek. It's a bit of a drive but worth it. It's also a place you almost stumble upon while driving to it. Located in a very unsassume residential area it's just kind of there alongside the owner's home. There's a gravel lot to park in and from there it's a short walk to the main store.
There's typically a large selection of plants outdoors but since it was winter the greenhouses is where most things are being kept at the moment, but that doesn't mean there's a shortage of plants.
The green houses are packed lust plants of all sorts of varieties from succulents, fiddley figs and other varieties of popular and trendy plants. There's also a menagerie of cats who roam the grounds. Some friendly, some fickle, but it always makes for a great instagram moment. Gunter's was such a fun place to discover and we'll easily be back very soon because they have plants that are only available there. While their prices might be just a few dollars more than the big stores they have a unique variety and shop local whenever possible, right?Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jacob J.San Francisco, CA02Apr 22, 2023
Great prices. Great service. Great products. Great people. A gem of a nursery. I'm buying nowhere else now.

This is such a wonderful, locally-owned business! I visited on a rainy Saturday morning and loved the warm and happy vibes in the greenhouses. Gunter's has a wonderful selection of plants- even things that are hard to find other places! Their prices are very fair, and the staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. I asked how to care for a plant and was educated clearly and simply. I can't wait to go back!

Just got into houseplants this year and when I hear people talk about must visit greenhouses, Gunters is always at the top of everyone's list so of course i had to check it and and let me tell you, believe the hype, this place is amazing! Located not far from Brier Creek, their greenhouse is a dream! They have so many plants, ones that you've been looking for along with some new beauties you didn't know you needed to add to your collection! Their greenhouse for their houseplants is full of tons of plants at amazing prices. With prices like theirs and beautiful healthy plants, it's hard to not leave with more than you planned to! Their offerings were l great and I found many of the plants on my list that I wanted and ones that I didn't know I needed! Since I'm new to houseplants, I'm not that into the rare plant craze but for those that are, they have a nice selection of them available. Although I go for houseplants, they have a number of greenhouses on the property dedicated to all types of plants and a nice selection of plants out front as well. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Every time I go, I never leave empty handed and usually with more than I planned on getting. All of my plants from them are thriving beautifully.

I think I found heaven and it's at Gunter's Greenhouse. They have over 4 large greenhouses available to satisfy all of your indoor/outdoor planting needs! From succulents, to pothos, monsteras and fiddle-leaf figs galore, it's every amateur to professional plant parents dream! They're plants are absolutely beautiful and very well cared for. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about their plants and were very friendly when I asked for assistance. I arrived before open and the greenhouses were closed but they graciously let me in anyways and unlocked the greenhouses so I could have a look around. Not to mention, there are two cats on the grounds that are so cute and as cuddly as ever! The pond out front has beautiful fish swimming around that adds even more to the tranquility. Their plants are moderately priced so I was able to pick up a few I'd been after for awhile without breaking the bank. I had an absolutely fantastic experience here and will definitely be back again soon!

First - the name. Love the alliteration. It's just fun to say "Gunter's Greenhouse."
Nice to find a greenhouse near my home (in all the new construction off of Page Road). I was in search of herbs and they did not disappoint. I found several varieties of rosemary and thyme, some parsley, and some chives. They were out of basil, my only disappointment. The staff was friendly and rang me up without delay. I was there in September so there were lots of mums for sale. I'm not sure I made it to all the greenhouses - it's a big area but they have little carts you can wheel around and load up. I might go back for some ferns or more herbs. Many options here. Support a local business and check it out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Claire T.Wake Forest, NC68138369Jul 8, 2019
I visited here while waiting for my daughter to finish an exam in Raleigh. It's a bit of a drive from where I live but many acquaintances rave about this place. I figured it was worth a visit.
While it's not fancy like some of the nurseries in Raleigh, they have a nice variety of plants all over their property and the staff is approachable and knowledgeable.
The prices are very good, especially the small succulents-$2.99 each! The houseplants and shade loving plants are in their own greenhouse so that is where I spent most of my time. I found many plants that I have been looking for such as a Silver Pothos (which I eventually purchased) as well as a wonderful selection of snake plants, begonias, succulents, and other tropicals.
I can see why so many love going here. I love that they post new plants they have for sale on their Facebook page. I expect I'll coming here again when I am looking for a particular plant and they have it in stock.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
