our dog eugene loves hidden acres! he comes home exhausted whether it's day care or a lengthier stay. he enjoys running free in the woods and hidden acres is exactly where he wants to be. they post videos daily so watching him have so much fun puts our minds at ease.
eugene was having issues eating and knocking his food everywhere so they even gave him no-tip bowls which seemed to help!
jordan always gives us detailed information when we pick eugene up- no matter how many dogs he has, he is able to provide info about how ours did, specifically. eugene can't wait to play with his friends at hidden acres again soon!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark N.Attleboro, MA12219Apr 20, 2017
We've been sending our dogs to Hidden Acres for years and have had nothing but outstanding experiences. Each of our three dogs has their own eccentricities and could not be more different.
When my wife was pregnant we had Hidden Acres "on call" for us to drop the dogs off when she went into labor. Our dogs are always excited when we pull in to drop them off and exhausted when we pick them up.
Everyone at hidden acres truly loves dogs and that is evident in everything that they do. They also go above and beyond in terms of customer service, they are pleasant and take the extra step to make sure that the customers needs are more than met.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jane C.Rehoboth, MA06May 24, 2018
We have always used Hidden Acres and have never had any kind of a problem. We go on vacation and we never worry about our Jack Russell, Piper. They watch over her because she is a tiny dog and fearful. It's a great relief not to worry about her.
Thanks guys.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Norm H.Providence, RI057Jun 10, 2015
A very unsafe place for your dog. I used to take my dog here two years ago and this was my experience:
There will only be one person ever working at a time no matter how many dogs are inside and outside.
I was always a little nervous but it seemed ok until one time my dog was returned to me with a huge cut on his side that needed to be stapled shut by the vet. (I added the photo). I understand dogs can get cut, no big deal but no one had at all noticed and it was a gross mess of new and dried up blood. The vet said the cut was likely 48 hours old. The owners paid for the vet bill and were very apologetic so I took my dog back one last time.
I had scheduled to drop him off and when I arrived there was literally not a single human on site and the dogs were unsupervised out in the woods, in the rain. Not only had that forgotten my appointment, but I called the number which transfers to the owners cell and he explained they had just left and would be back later THAT EVENING. Crazy. Again, he was very nice and apologetic and I'm sure it's costly to fully staff a place like this but just seems very unsafe to me.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

1. This was over two years ago- not sure why you decided to blast us now.
2. Looking through our records, your lab mix Cole was with us a total of 17 times - 17 different times you trusted him with us. So apparently we weren't all that bad right?
3. You were late that day you describe and I assumed you had to forgotten to cancel. But I should have called you to check. My mistake. But that wasn't the last time we saw you - that was somewhere in the middle if all Cole's stays.
4. We hadn't left "the" dogs out alone, we left some dogs - it wasn't many and they probably barked at you through the fence. We have many many regular customers - and sometimes when we are 100% sure about them, we'll leave a few out to enjoy the outdoors. We know our dogs very well- we spend so much time with them in groups. Also, we have 3 other separate yards (besides the woods) fenced off from each other.
5. As for the rain- it was a drizzle that day and there is a huge lean-to out in our fenced woods. And there are 2 long slopping roofs over each of 3 wings of the kennel complete with rubber kennel beds and water bowls spread around- not to mention huge trees everywhere. There is ample space for them to go if it is rainy or overly sunny.
6. When it is really busy we have two people there, but generally just 1. The building was designed and built as a kennel- it's very well thought out and 1 person can easily operate it. I am typically in my home which is next to the kennel should employees need assistance. I have learned that having a few experienced, older, well paid employees is a much better model than hiring an army of underpaid 18 year olds that have no clue how to handle a group of dogs and quit every 5 minutes. - Katie A.Rochester, NY4922850Mar 17, 2013
Do NOT bring your dog here if you value its health and happiness. Problems at Hidden Acres include:
1. Being really unresponsive - if you call to make an appointment to drop off your dog, or even to just learn about the facility, you may never get a call back (I ended up going somewhere else the first time I tried to use Hidden Acres, because I NEVER got my message returned).
.
2. Being really strict about pickup/dropoff times. The dogs have to stay much longer at the facility than necessary, because they can only be picked up during certain windows (two 2-hour windows morning and night). In the summer there is two night minimum on the weekends, which is ridiculous. They also stress "Please do no just drop by the kennel without an appointment". .
3. Overall lack of monitoring of the dogs leading to dangerous situations - a problem that is prevalent throughout the owner's businesses. Please read the filtered reviews both for Hidden Acres and for the other facilities he runs/ran (Tall Tails) to get a picture of how they are operated. Last time one dog ended up with a huge gash on its side, which we only realized upon getting home - the staff hadn't said anything, and we have no way of knowing if it was caused by another dog or by a fence.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you Katie for your review. Though truly painful to read, it helps us know what isn't working. I have made some changes to my website already to help clear up some questions that you raise. Dogs are so meaningful to people- we understandably react very harshly when something unintended happens. Katie, I'm so sorry your dog had a gash! I wish you had called about the injury as I would have offered to pay any vet bills. I have the main line forwarded to my cell phone and I pick up the phone myself 90% of the time. That offer still stands, though I honestly don't know who you are from your yelp profile.
I am very flexible about drop off and pick up times and tours - people arrange to come off-hours all the time - I just need to know when people are coming precisely for the reason that I don't want to leave a large group of dogs unattended. During non-office hours I/we are generally out in the fenced-in woods with a group at play and it is difficult to attend to people out of the blue - or even know that they are there! - Tyler P.Newport, RI60161May 9, 2015
Our dogs have never been boarded before due to always being around family and friends that were available to take care of our dogs however when we moved 2000 miles away from our friends and family we needed a place to board them. We found Hidden Acres Kennel here on Yelp and decided to give them a try. When we picked our dogs up after a long weekend you could tell they had a blast! They slept for days because they are not used to being able to play for hours on end with other dogs and the pictures provided by staff throughout the weekend really put my wife and I at ease because you could see the smiles on the dogs faces as they played.
I would recommend Hidden Acres to all of our friends with dogs!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sarah K.Boston, MA436Dec 29, 2012
Hidden Acres is as good as a dog kennel can get.
They offer pick-up and drop-off to my home in Boston, they charge one flat rate that includes LOTS of outdoor play time, and they regularly update me with photos of my dog playing in their huge dog run!
They are also incredibly flexible, and allow me to pay with Paypal and make boarding arrangements via text.
Most importantly, they are caring and friendly. They know my dog's name and habits and take great care of him while he stays. He always comes home clean, exhausted, and happy.
I hope I never move and need to find another kennel, because my dog and I are spoiled by Hidden Acres!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Sarah - I hope to see Shadow soon! And thanks for the nice review!

The folks here are warm, friendly, and genuinely caring. I really love the daily photo Updates that they send as it makes me feel comfortable about leaving my best bud here when I travel.
I also love the large outdoor "play" area and the fact that my big girl can romp with her fellow fur friends!
And as the other reviewer mentioned, they bathe her so she returns fresh and clean!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rosemarie V.Brooklyn, NY214Aug 10, 2016
I never worry when Sophia is at Hidden Acres!! They treat her like family. Jordan and staff are accommodating, professional, caring and kind. I get pictures everyday showing Sophia playing.
My daughter lives nearby and we have used Hidden a Acres many times when we go on vacation. Unfortunately my daughter is moving soon. We may have to drive to Rehobeth and leave from Providence in the future!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark M.Taunton, MA410Sep 2, 2014
My wife (still feels weird to say that!) and I boarded our pup Dougie here for 16 days during our wedding/honeymoon. We haven't had the little guy for that long, and we were a little worried how he'd react to being boarded for such a long time. The one thing he goes absolutely crazy for is dog park time, though, so we knew we had a good shot of success with this one.
Boy, were we right or what?! Jordan runs a brilliant operation over there. Martha and JD sent us several pictures daily of Dougie at play (and a few of him laying in the dirt from pure exhausted bliss).
We just got him back on Sunday. Martha warned us that Dougie was probably going to sleep for a week (Day 3 and so far she's right on). Theres been zero adjustment back (in fact, he's been a happier dog!) and it's obvious by looking at him that he got a great workout for 2 and a half weeks. We will absolutely use Hidden Acres again for all of our overnight boarding needs, and maybe even some doggie daycare as a special treat!
As an aside, the roughest adjustment we had to having Dougie back was right as we picked him up. He cried in the car until Hidden Acres was out of sight. If that's not a dog who wanted to stay longer, I don't know what is!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
