House Call Chicago

II had House Call Home Inspections come through my unit prior to purchasing the property end of May. The inspection results indicated no issues and that everything ran properly, so I purchased the condo. I closed on the condo 7/11/2022 and neither the refrigerator nor the dishwasher are functional. I had a GE technician come in and check the refrigerator and noted that the motor fan wasn't working and there was condensation in the electrical area. This could have been a serious hazard had this not been caught and addressed. He said the entire unit needs to be replaced ($1,600).

Prior to even moving in to the unit (I haven't used any of the appliances to date), I am going to have to replace 2 major appliances. I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received and wouldn't use House Call again in the future.

Company blocked me on Facebook after I left this review, so posting this review on Yelp since they're trying to hide any negative reviews.
Stay away from this company unless you want to find big issues on your own that they miss.
This company was recommended by a previous realtor who I found out was very unqualified, just like this company. They noted that there was water damage in one of the kitchen cabinets below the sink yet they failed to open up any other cabinets to inspect whether there was any other water damage. By failing to open the above cabinet (above the water damaged cabinet) they didn't notice a piece of plywood that was hiding mold. I noticed this on my final walkthrough and was appalled that they missed this. When I called the company, I was told by one person that they don't normally check any kitchen cabinets and by another that that was their mistake. They gave me a partial refund instead of a full refund. I am lucky that I was able to notice this big issue that they missed, otherwise I would have been in for a very costly mistake if I had gone through with this real estate transaction.
Don't use this company if you want to make sure your inspection is done right, otherwise you may find issues down the line on your own.

Mark was fantastic. Being single with a time-demanding job has made the mortgage process more stressful than I had initially predicted. We also set expedited closing and attorney review time frames as a part of the negotiations with the seller. But, Mark was able to come out to the site within 72 hours, was incredibly thorough, provided earnest and honest feedback, and printed out the report immediately following the inspection. He and my realtor walked through the majority of the inspection together, and I came to the last portion. After, we walked to a nearby restaurant where he reviewed the report with me- which was full of pics documenting issues as well as handy things to know, such as where the water shut-offs and the like are located. Mark went out of his way on a Saturday after I closed on my condo to repair a leak that was not visible during the home inspection. If you're looking for a reliable house inspection I recommend House Call, they are committed to their customers even after the inspection!

Mark was the ultimate professional and by far the best home inspector I've ever hired. Mark told me that the inspection would start at 2 pm and would take approx. 4 hours. When I pulled up to the property at 2 pm, Mark had arrived and started the inspection of the outside of the home at 1:30. He took his time to go through the home with a fine tooth comb:), not skipping a single corner but definitely paying attention and identifying any all potential issues. He is so thorough and inclusive, making sure I understood his findings, and not talking over my head. At the conclusion of my inspection, Mark provided a complete copy via pdf of the inspection and I received a hard copy in a binder as well.
