I love this place! As soon as we walked in I was just floored at the talent of these artist singing as well as playing the drums, guitar etc. Gheesh this place is just happening and yes I'd recommend it to anyone who is visiting. I encourage you to come to this place and expect to be blown away.
The set up is very nice with some area in the front for those who wish to dance located right in front of the band area. Being as it was very crowded when we got here I could count 2 bars perhaps there was more I'm not sure. The drinks were reasonable we got beer which was on special.
The one's playing this particular night had the audience involved which was a hoot! They song some songs that had everyone in the crowd laughing as they went back and forth. Just an amazing place that I truly look forward to going back too very soon!!
Make this a stop if you are in town!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 19, 2020
Really fun bar! There was a wide variety of people there, which is really great! The drinks were strong. The band was really good! We went on 90s night, which was extra fun! The cover was $5 per person, which was annoying. But they let the girls in our party in for free...classic. Be sure to check in on Yelp for a free cover (1/17/20)! We'll be back, especially for the live music!

Really just leaving a review for catharsis, as this established is now closed. I visited with friends and was assaulted by security and thrown over a table, which resulted in a herniated disc. HATM took no responsibility (police also did nothing), and I figured a lawsuit wasn't worth it. So I am overjoyed to see this business closed. Sorry to the employees that weren't violent, I hope you found somewhere better to work. To the managers at HATM Charlotte, go fuck yourself!

Stopped in yesterday for drinks thanks to an awesome groupon and was surprisingly treated to dueling pianos! How awesome is that?! I really enjoyed the show. It was a great way to relax and just have fun. We sang along with every song we knew and really got into the show. The performers were great! I think this is a great scene for groups and I'll be back for sure!

So much fun! Seriously one of the best piano bars I've ever been to. The performers are so incredibly talented and versatile. Plus, even with a crowd, the bartenders were speedy and attentive. The Calm AF bucket is yummy! I can't wait to return!
FYI the restrooms have attendants and there is a $3 cover charge.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 9, 2019
I always have a great time at Howl at the Moon! You can't beat the atmosphere, which sets it apart from other bars in Charlotte. The piano players are outstanding and keep people of all ages dancing and having a good time. My only complaint is sometimes service can be a little slow by the tables and it can be hard to get a table because people aren't leaving. But it's easy to get a drink at the bar and the buckets are a great value and fun to split with friends. It's a hidden gem in Charlotte.

Four years later to celebrate the birthday of the same friend and the experience has deteriorated. Two of the musicians were great but the others were just okay and one was actually awful. I'm sorry, dude, but playing the same three notes on the trumpet ten times in a row is not helping anyone. You completely tortured Roxanne and I think that was the worst Bohemian Rhapsody in ever. And I know, because I've done one and it sucked too.
The place was way too loud, the speaker outside in the smoking area was just as loud and it was a little blown. The beer was expensive. The cover charge was an acceptable $5.
The four stars experience we had the last time that was "I'm a fan" has now turned into a "I've experienced better." Maybe when we're back in four more years it will have improved again?Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0Feb 28, 2012Previous reviewI've never been to a dueling piano bar, so I didn't really know what to expect. I did read through the reviews before coming here - my friend was celebrating his birthday and so picked the joint. Sorry Chad - they aren't offering specials anymore.
Quite loud, but the music was solid. The folks up on the stage were rocking and rolling and I thought that they were talented. Maybe not the greatest musicians, but they clearly knew how to keep the crowd active and they absolutely understood how to make the bucks! Not just the progressive pricing to get your message written on the mirror, but the subtle plugs for the $20 "play it now" requests and the $40 "I promise I won't suck if you let me come up on stage and sing". And even when the request is a slow downer - Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" - they played it quite uptempo to satisfy the request and still keep the vibe going.
Drinks aren't cheap and they are hit or miss. I had one that was very weak and one that was very strong. I skipped the girl selling Jello shots, but we did buy one for my birthday friend. Be ready to take a picture when they do. Next time, I might just stick with the beers. The drink menu does not have prices and the server didn't give me an itemized receipt, so I can't even guess at how much they cost.
Book a table. Seriously! We were lucky because we got here early and managed to snag the second-to-last at 8:00. The three reserved tables didn't show up until 9:00 and by that time it was SRO.
Parking in Uptown is a challenge. You might be lucky and find a space on the street if you're lucky, otherwise there are expensive parking lots everywhere.
A really rocking good time. I'm sure we will be back. - Dec 28, 2016
This is a fun bar with dueling pianos, drums, and other musical instruments. There are four performers who take requests and they were good, wow. The service is friendly and attentive.
Patrons danced and sang and everyone seemed to have a great time.
We had more fun here than Whiskey River located one story below.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 24, 2019
Last night was the 2nd time I've been here. Piano bars are always so fun. Though I honestly feel like if you buy more than one drink they should deduct your $5 cover. I understand it for those who do not have alcohol. But, when you spend $40 in drinks it should come off the bill I think. The music is always awesome. The bartenders are so nice. It wasn't too crowded at around 11:30 so we could stand at the bar and keep ordering and dancing up there. A must try it your ever at the epicenter. It's on the 3rd floor.
