So last Friday which was Valentine's Day.... I know right who schedules a dentist appointment to pull their primary molar out on Valentine's Day!? Lol! Yes I did! I really didn't have a choice. It was either to keep walking around with half of a tooth in my mouth or find a dentist that was able to extract my dying tooth for me.

I called soooo many offices. One after the other stated they were not accepting new patients. Then a couple of them told me that I need a referral to see them... It was so draining. Then one office was willing to see me but when I went there it was so unprofessional and I left with half a tooth in my mouth. That's another long story... But let's get back to what I was saying.... Lol!

I was exhausted and needed to find someone that was the BEST to help me. So I went online and searched and searched... Then WALA!!!! ( I think that's a word...) I found Ideal Smiles Dentistry! I left my information online for someone to contact me to schedule an appointment since it was late in the night. They did call me the next day and scheduled an appointment with me. They did not give me a difficult time like the other dental offices in the area.

I got there bright and early on Valentine's Day to get my tooth extracted. Everyone was so friendly, very professional, and well organized. I mean everyone was just awesome from the front desk staff, to the dental assistants, the hygienist, and of course Dr. Zahir was the icing on the cake!

They helped calm me down too. Cause yes adults do get nervous at dental appointments. Not just kids. Lol! They explained to me the procedure and the after care. They listened to my other experiences on this journey of finding a dentist that was willing to help me.

This office is by far one of the BEST dental offices in Hampton Roads! If you want a dental office that is patient, well organized, and are AWESOME at what they do and actually loves what they do! This is the place to come too for your dental needs!

A very good friend of mine was WAY OVERCHARGED for care. For a cleaning, filling and tooth pulled they charged 1,735!!! They kept telling him he needed to pay more and more. WAY OVER PRICED - NOT TRANSPARENT and I have reported them to the BBB. BEWARE!

-- BTW I am from Virginia Beach and not California

WORST DENTIST EVER ! They make appointments with out the doctor there & do not tell you in advance when making the appointment, so you have to schedule another appointment to see the doctor. When I called to cancel my appointment and to stop being a patient there, the " Office Manager" asked if there was anything he could do to change my mind and that he was " here to help" and I told him no, there was nothing he could help me with & he proceeds to try to convince me to stay with them and I told him no again and he hangs up in my face without even letting me request an email for the void. When I call back he tries to say " I wouldn't let him talk ", but if I am trying to cancel and I say there is nothing he can help me with, what is there to talk about ? I do not recommend this place AT ALL ! There are better places that are cheaper with better care and WAY better customer service. I wouldn't even take my grandma's dentures here !

Dissapointing experience! I have called to make an appointment for a filling that fell out from my front tooth and i have mentioned that i am pregnant and I do not want to get anestesia or x-ray. I was told that i need to bring anyway a clearence from my obgyn. I asked again why do i need it since i personally don't want any of those procedures done, only want to get the filling done. I was told that the doctor want's to see it anyway. It didn't make sense to me but i brought one with me to the appointment. Long story short, I was told after paying the 116$ consulation+xray fee that Dr. Zahir will not fix my tooth without having an xray. Why was this not mentioned clearly on the phone when i made the appointment? I waisted time and money. I felt like they only cared about charging me and not about fixing my problem. The DR was a bit insistent with me having an X-ray and telling me it is pretty safe... She also told me that even though the place where the filling fell out has no cavity she can't fill it in because there a small cavity like a point on anothe side of my tooth and if she won't fix everything, she can loose her license...and that nobody in America will fix it in a different way. I understood that the proper way to fix it is probably the way DR Zahir told me it has to be done but i am pregnant and wanted the least invasive way to get my problem fixed. After i give birth i can fix all the other issues properly.

I see that other reviewers have stated similar experience, that they felt like unneccessary x-rays and services were pushed on them.

I called my doctor in New Jersey and of course he agreed on fixing my filling without putting me trough possible dangerous procedures, he understood my situation

They charged $126 for out-of-pocket exam and x-ray. They gave me an x-ray but never gave me an exam.

The dentist had me waiting for 35-40 minutes in a room waiting to be seen while she went and talked and took care of a walk-in. She didn't even apologize for making me wait so long.

When she finally decided she would come talk to me, it was literally for 3 minutes. She didn't even look at my teeth. She just immediately said she couldn't take care of my issue and I needed to go somewhere else.

It was a very bizarre situation. I don't recommend this office.

We've been going here for several years and they charge you if you have to change your appointment within a certain time frame - that was fine until today, when I show up with my kids for their appointments just for them to tell me they can only have cleanings done and we have to reschedule for a different session to have the doctor do the exam. They didn't seem to care that it was an inconvenience. No phone call ahead of time or opportunity to just change the appointment as if people don't have jobs and have to take off work... but they take a fee really quick from you. The staff is ever changing in this place and it's always someone new every time you come in. I'm finding another dentist for my family after this.

Rather disappointed. I went in for a basic cleaning. They took about 15 xrays, and most were not covered by insurance which I had never experienced before under the same insurance. I was told that I had to get them done as well.

I also got the impression that I was being told to get procedures done that were not necessary so I went to go get a second opinion and was told that I didn't need any work done.

I will not be coming back. If you're questioning whether or not to come to this location I hope this has helped.

Dr. Zahir is WONDERFUL!!! Not only is she straight forward and to the point, but she also has fantastic "bedside manners". I have had (in one day) 4 crowns prepped (temporaries placed before permanents in 2 weeks) in one visit, and she had to do two (not one but TWO) root canals on the fly in order to finish prepping the crowns and she didn't skip a beat! I will never go to another dentist as long as I live in this area! 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Thank you, Dr. Zahir for giving me my smile and confidence back!

Employees are very rude to the interns, the main doctor doesn't know how keep her subordinates in check and also likes to join in on the harassment.

Dr. Rivera and his staff are friendly, professional and always help explain what they are going to do thoroughly and how to help prevent further cavities or buildup. They are following within Covid guidelines to keep everyone safe while treating as well! They take treatment plans and try to help you the best way they can! I used to hate going to the dentist and now I love it! I also cannot get over how you can't tell I got fillings!! Looks great!
