About the Business
Established in 1986, Il Cielo is an enchanting restaurant and events venue where fairy tales come to life, and many of those fairy tales begin right here in our gardens. Owners, Pasquale and Pattie Vericella, had set their sights on the home of Il Cielo (formerly En Brochette) for several years before the owners agreed to sell to them in 1986. Their dream has always been to create a restaurant and events venue that was a home. "Because of my background growing up in the peaceful country sides of both Pennsylvania and in Italy;" Pasquale states, "Pattie and I want our guest to feel completely at home and comfortable and be surrounded by nature, beauty and magic. Il Cielo is about all things authentic: Fresh food and fresh air in a beautiful garden setting."

We came to Il Cielo for a Valentine's Dinner and wow, this spot does not disappoint! I was expecting it to be a spot that focused on ambience more than food but I can say that it delivered on both ends.
Starting with the ambience, there isn't a single bad table. Whether you're outside or inside, it's intimate with beautiful lighting and a perfect spot for some romance.
For the food, I got the white truffle pasta with maine lobster and this absolutely blew me away! The lobster is so generously portioned and the truffle was light and delicious. We also got the grilled octopus as an appetizer which honestly blew me away. The cocktails were delicious and a perfect pairing with dinner.
The servers were so attentive and we even got to chat with the owner who's been carrying recipes from his family in Italy. A spectacular place for a special dinnerHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kellie W.San Francisco, CA32Apr 25, 2024
I rarely write reviews but felt I needed to write one as I felt we were extremely overcharged for the amount, taste, and type of food and drinks that were served. When we first were seated they asked if we wanted sparkling or flat water--we said flat because assumed this was tap water (no explanation of this and no choice of "tap"). They continued to fill our glasses (which were barely touched by many of us) and then when the bill came we were charged $50 for water (which tasted like tap water to me).
I agree with what others posted about the amount and quality of the food compared to the price. The "mocktail" drinks were $12--very pricey for no alcohol (and in addition to paying for water that not all asked for). The tortellini, which was one the cheapest things on the menu, was only 6 pieces and had no meat ($38). The Caesar salad was underwhelming (tasted very vinegary for a Caesar dressing and small portion). The bread came with no butter or even oil, which we had to ask for. The lobster was the worst my sister-in-law had tasted. No one was especially pleased with the taste or amount. But we were shocked even more when the bill came and saw the water charge and added gratuity on top of that (service was just okay--he didn't split the bill like we asked and it took us so long to try to figure things out and all the charges that we gave up).
All in all, the ambience was nice, but I feel like we paid more than a high-end steak house for our split dinner with no drinks when all was said and done.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shari M.Beverly Hills, CA022Mar 9, 2024

Went here for our anniversary dinner! Such a cute place inside and felt very quaint.
Service was great, and the food was good too, but not anything out of this world for the price, to be honest.
I ordered the lobster risotto which was over $50 and received very little lobster with an overwhelming amount of risotto. It was good but I wish there was a bit more lobster.
My boyfriend got the wild boar papardelle and enjoyed it as well, but felt it could've used a bit more seasoning for flavor.
The heart shaped flourless chocolate cake for dessert was without a doubt the best part. It was delishhhhh.

Food was 3/5 service was 3/5 ambiance was 5/5
Mashed potatoes were excellent! The steak, not so much. Service was a bit slow. Asked for the check and the waiter forgot until another waiter came and asked if we wanted something else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 28, 2024
We had dinner a few nights ok and had an amazing evening.
I had called and spoke to Robert on the phone and he was incredibly accommodating. Robert and I discussed a seating preference and he was great. When we arrived I met Robert and thanked him for the accommodation.
This is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. It's super romantic and classy. Loved the ambiance and the lighting.
Our server was Nino and he was great! He was very patient with us and made great recommendations. The service was perfectly timed and Nino was very attentive without being intrusive.
Nino had recommended the Lobster pasta special and it was amazing! We both ordered it and we loved it!
As we exited the restaurant, The owner thanked us, which was a nice touch. Just a fabulous evening all around!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 20, 2023Seated via Yelp Reservations
First time I went with my father for his birthday about 2 years ago was the most amazing experience. Pasta was $20, service was unprecedented and the ambience was amazing.
Came a second time around because of how perfect the food was, specifically the bolognese.
Service was attentive as always but everything felt a bit more rushed. On open table I requested an indoor seat which was provided, Thank you!
I ordered the vodka penne (pink sauce) which although is not on the menu, was still provided. My friend ordered the tuna tartare which he loved. Portion sizes are great, more than enough for one person. The final bill was laughable.
Yes I do understand that it is a "high end" restaurant but $36 for some vodka penne is ridiculous. The cheapest pasta here is $36. Again, quality is great but not for $36.
You pay for the ambience and wines but otherwise the markups from last time I came are crazy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 4, 2024

Il Cielo was a wonderful birthday dinner experience for me. I booked a very late dinner at 9:30 P.M. after a whole day of spending my birthday at California Disneyland and my dining experience was very nice and intimate. When you go into Il Cielo, you enter into a getaway into a fantasy-like Romanesque restaurant. I forgot that I was in the middle of Beverly Hills as I dined next to a running wall Roman fountain. My server was wonderful and patient as I took a while in choosing my dishes. I chose Antipasto il Cielo as my appetizer which offered a delicious array of cured meats and veggies. Afterwards I ordered a Tagliolini Frutti di Mare for my entree which was a marriage of prawn, clams, and other seafood items. The Tagliolini deserved a chef's kiss. Lastly I ordered a Heart Shaped Chocolate cake which the waiter knew it was my birthday and wrote a birthday message on the tray. The Heart Chocolate Cake was sweet, rich, and decadent which is how I love my chocolate cake. Il Cielo was a wonderful way to end my 33rd birthday celebrations. I would love to dine here again for another special occasion in the near future. Mille Grazie Il CieloHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 2, 20241 check-in
Thank you Pasquale for another amazing dining experience! It was a privilege to meet you and hear your story! The limoncello was a perfect way to end dinner! I ordered the lamb cooked medium and a litchie Martini. The service here (server Massimo) was divine. The food tasted amazing! Year after year consistent and smooth. Always a pleasure dining at Il Cielo. Looking forward to the next time. SalutÃ
