Small Italian restaurant and pizza joint on Main Street in Luray right across the road from the historic Mimslyn Hotel.
While we were there, lots of locals coming in and out for pizza pickup. We ordered calamari as a starter, which was super delicious and very nicely cooked.
There are lots of soups on the menu, mostly around $10. I had the wedding soup, which was OK.
Wife that the egg plant Parmigiana, one of my fave dishes from my high school memories in New York. It was also OK, although from my taste of it, I prefer the eggplant a bit firmer.
Super friendly and engaging staff! They also offer a 15% military discount!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joe F.Loveland, OH69203112Jan 25, 2024
Food was actually really good, but the wait for food was incredibly slow. Unfortunately, Luray does not have a ton of options for dinner (and this was in July) and I'm sure that helps push this place along.
We walked from where we were staying, so that should tell you mostly why we chose it. Nothing specialHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 20, 2023
Based on the reviews we decided to try this place out on our visit to DarkWood Manor haunted house. IYKYK
I ordered a calzone which was loaded with filling. Hubby ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which was disappointing. The meatballs were ok, not great and not full of flavor. The marinara sauce was thin and just a few steps above Chef Boy-R-Dee.
Watching the crowd that was there, and the heavy to-go business, it seemed that pizzas, calzones, and sandwiches were the preferred meals here. Maybe stick to those and avoid the pasta?
I will say, I never saw the staff stop moving. They were moving food, restocking table supplies, and even washing windows.
The ambiance isn't much to speak of, but for casual food like Sammie's and pizzas, it's fine. This is not fine dining.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 342976123Apr 2, 2024
We went to the place when it was supposed to be open and there was not a car in the place. It seriously looked deserted... :(
I hate to give a bad review having never eaten at the place...but I am not sure if it is open or not?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 7166449Mar 30, 2024
Fast friendly service...our server, Pam was super nice and attentive...good ambiance for groups of hungry customers...my Luray salad with beef was delicious, very generous with the beef which made the salad very satisfying.,,the Margherita pizza was yummy when eaten right out of the oven...the white with added chicken hit the spot bc that was gone in minutes. Fried mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms perfectly cooked with chewing cheese and juicy mushroom goodness...seafood soup filled with fresh clams, shrimps, mussels and calamari rings...seasoned just right, not too salty...the meat pizza was a tad in the salty side...must eat with garden salad to balance out the salt...highly recommended...will definitely come back next time we are in Luray

Stopped by otw to Luray Caverns. Food was kinda pricey for the quality given. However service was great. Food came out quickly. We tried hawaiian pizza (canned pineapple :( though), vesuvio pizza, calamari, and seafood pasta. Pizzas were good, they had a nice thin crust and I liked the ricotta on the vesuvio pizza. Calamari was okay, not bad. Seafood pasta was actually good though, the flavors were subtle and not too overwhelming and seafood was cooked well. The pasta was the best part. Overall, not bad, would come here again as part of a tourist stop.

After exploring the mountainside, we were looking for a quiet night in. We ordered the house pizza (the Il Vesuvio) and hot wings to go. The pizza was thin, crispy, and authentic. The wings were very good as well: typical wet wings with plenty of sauce. I would like to eat in the restaurant next time. Also, given the high food prices in Luray, this restaurant has more reasonable pricing than most.

This was a decent place to dine when we visited Luray, VA. The servers are friendly and they have options for kids as well. The indoor seating is a bit tight, but they have outdoor seating as well.
I got the following:
- Margherita pizza - very good and flavorful.
- Onion rings - delicious and unhealthy
- Parmesan fries - decent.
My kid got his chicken fingers and fries. My family got seafood and loved it.
Overall, decent family place for a meal in the small town of Luray.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 21, 2022
This is a wonderful spot! First off thank you Josh. A beautiful blonde lady and I both agree "you're doing awesome!" Outstanding service! Keep doing exactly what you're doing! This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Shenandoah Valley. The service and ambiance alone, are among the best. Such a friendly place.
Quite delicious spaghetti and other pasta dishes. My apologies but forgot the name of the tasty Hefeweizen I had this past weekend. Good beer and wine list. This is a small and intimate place. If you're on a date or with family, this is where you want to go to.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Melissa J.VA, VA012Mar 3, 2024
Not great pizza. Have ordered from here a few times and each time it was worse than before. Would not recommend
