One thing I always do when determining the accuracy of a negative yelp review, is reading the review carefully to see if the complaints are legitimate, and reading the business response. If the business apologizes, even for negative reviews that obviously weren't their fault, that's a big plus. But if the business attempts to excuse the review, and blame the customer, huge red flag!
Obviously you can see which route Biltmore went...
Jennifer, you're a great very good dentist, but you're not a very good person. You know pretty much everything you said is a lie. And what's sad is you choosing to ignore terrible staff only hurts you, not me. We got our work done, and we didn't have to wait 45 minutes for the local dentist to verify coverage, not once. We only had to drive 10 minutes, and we didn't have to deal with unprofessional, passive-aggressive staff who only care about themselves, and should never work any sort of customer service position, ever.
To anyone who doubts my side, don't take my word for it, scroll the other negative reviews here, you'll see a pattern soon enough.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Bob V. We always try to see how we can improve when someone is unhappy with their experience in our office. We thank you for the input to help us improve. I would like to note some inaccuracies in your review.
1-Your wife arrived at her appointment time, not early. Her check-in is time stamped in our computer software. You both were in the office less than 45 minutes.
2-We prefer to verify dental insurance before our patients arrive for their appointment. We had been requesting this information from your wife since September.
Instead, she provided new information at the time of her arrival. Additionally, she could not recall the details about her policy that would have made it easier to find. We spent 20 minutes calling the insurance company to find her policy. Why waste that time? If her insurance policy was incorrect, the insurance company will not cover her care.
3- Our hygienist and dentist will not perform any dental treatment without an evaluation first. It is not only unethical but illegal to perform dental treatment without first evaluating the patient in our office.
This process was made clear to your wife over the phone several times. We adjusted our schedule to provide both services that morning. I even offered to reschedule to a different time that day or a different day to accommodate her. However, when told that she couldn't get treatment without an evaluation by our hygienist, your wife refused and said she had another appointment to get to. She left the office.
4 -Your profanity and insults started almost immediately after you entered our office. It went on the whole time you were here, in front of other patients and children. You continued while we were on the phone finding your wife’s insurance information for her and on your way out.
Again, I’m sorry you did not receive the experience you were expecting. We strive to provide the best care for each patient’s individual needs. This means we spend the necessary time to collect information, make personalized assessments and purposeful recommendations. Dealing with dental insurance is a necessary challenge that all dental and medical offices have to maneuver. I will take your criticism to heart and review policies with our front office staff to avoid misunderstandings in the future. AnnaDec 19, 2023Previous reviewSo as great as my experience was here, my wife's was quite a bit more negative, and from the start. While many of the things I mentioned in my review were also things she liked about this place, her crown came off three or four times right after it was put on. But this review will mainly focus on our most recent experience and the worst customer service we've ever encountered, anywhere.
We live in Yuma, which is about 2.5 hours from Biltmore. My wife scheduled the appointment a month ago, and made it clear she wanted to come in for a deep cleaning, that day. She gave the front desk girl our insurance info and was told she would be called back once coverage was confirmed. She was never called back. A week later she called again, and this time was told insurance had been confirmed.
When we arrived, the same girl asked for the insurance info AGAIN. She then proceeded to verify it, AGAIN. We arrived about 25 minutes early. At 15 minutes past appointment time I asked the other front desk girl why my wife was still waiting, and was told they hadn't verified coverage. I asked why they hadn't verified this when we gave them the info a month ago, and was told they never had the info!? I told her considering we drove in from Yuma this seemed pretty unprofessional. She then theatened/asked if we wanted to reschedule. I asked if we were being told to leave. She had gotten defensive very quickly. But at this point she backs down and says they value our time. I said I understand what you're saying, but I don't see the actions.
She checks on where things are at, and my wife goes back about 20 minutes late. Now we're told they needed to prep the room, and a hygenist leads her back, so doing the deep cleaning right? WRONG! When my wife gets back they tell her it's just a 10 minute evaluation, and they don't have time to do the deep cleaning today. At this point my wife gets up, and we leave. No one is in the front when we go, but I do let a few choice words fly as we're headed out the door.
I still strongly believe Dr. Ebner is a great dentist. But her support staff are beyond incompetent. They didn't keep track of our insurance verification, didn't communicate we had scheduled a deep cleaning, and then despite knowing how far we had traveled, refused to either admit their mistakes, or remedy them, and basically hid when we left.
Considering the gross negligence displayed, and the gas and time wasted, I believe they owe us some financial restitution.Jan 22, 2020Previous reviewI've never been to a dentist that spends so much time looking at my teeth. Seriously, they take x-rays, then they take pictures, then they go over the pictures in detail. But the focus is definitely holistic. They checked my jaw, asked about my diet, sleep habits, even check for mouth cancer. Was very impressed by the level of detail and attention they gave me as a patient.
Needed a deep-cleaning, not surprised as this was my second visit to the dentist in the last 5 years. They did a really good job of numbing my gums before using the needle to further numb the tissue. I hate needles, and didn't even feel a pinch. Was checking them out as we are new to the area, and after seeing the level of detail during my initial visit, scheduled my wife and daughter for appointments as well.
Thank you Dr. Ebner, for caring so much about what you do. - Katalin M.San Francisco, CA09Dec 27, 2023Updated review
Another dentist that won't see you unless you get a Pano X-ray. That is NOT holistic. Pano is on my face, and it gives as much radiation as a CT Scan. Amazing that dentists don't bother to look this up. Besides that, it's my mouth. Regular x-rays should be an option, but here, they are not. Plus, the person I spoke with was rude.
Update: Wow, this place waited YEARS before they replied with false information, no less. The point I made is that it should be up to me whether or not I want a pano, not up to you. The other point is that you claim to be "holistic" and many people do not consider x-rays to be holistic. You are right about only one thing - I have not been to your office. All I had to do was CALL and find out you insist on panos. This is why I put that the person I spoke with was rude. BTW, I found an excellent dentist who is not holistic, who is fine with me not having panos. And, no, I'm not a business trying to make you look bad. Also, I do not agree with the numbers you posted as I've seen different ones. I do suggest you grow up as your reply is rather childish (and years late).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My profile seems like a strange place to vent about dental x-rays. You have never been to our office. I responded to this review with a thoughtful post about dental x-rays, disease detection and radiation exposure comparisons more than 2 years ago. Surprisingly, Yelp removed that.
You are incorrect in claiming that a pano x-ray requires the same radiation exposure as a CT, I will post the true measured radiation from dental x-rays. In truth, they are quite different than you claim. This information is from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
Dental x-rays | University of Michigan School of Dentistry (umich.edu)
A pano exposes one to 24 microsievert (µSv)
A small dental CT scan of 3 teeth is 32 to 43 µSv ( double that of a pano)
A dental CT of both jaws is 269 µSv (over 10 times that of a pano x ray)
A medical CT can range from 2000 to 5000 µSv. (100 times that of a pano)
People’s daily exposure to radiation from the environment is 8 µSv
Why take dental x-rays at all? Mindfully taking dental x-rays when necessary, allows early detection of cavities to avoid pain, infection and root canals, early detection of cancers and bone loss, and more. I find early disease and even cancers every year from pano x rays. They are usually taken once every 5 years.
My patients trust that I provide them with complete and comprehensive dental care judiciously using diagnostic tools available to evaluate, detect and prevent disease.
You are the steward of your own healthcare Katalin. As such, you can choose to forgo diagnostic tools that are beneficial to your healthcare. However, I cannot justify supervised neglect of the people who put their trust in me by agreeing to not use the tools available to me to detect disease.
I wish you the best in dental health.Sep 27, 2021Previous reviewAnother dentist that won't see you unless you get a Pano X-ray. That is NOT holistic. This dentist is AMAZING you guys! I just moved to Phoenix a month ago and knew something was up with my tooth. I needed to establish care at a new dentist and I'm so glad I chose this spot. I've never been treated so kindly at any dentist or doctor's office in my life. Dr.Ebner is a gem, she's so kind, hilarious, and very very good at what she does. I had to get a crown, which is never fun, but somehow it wasn't that bad because of this place and the amazing staff. Deon is my boy, he's friendly, kind, funny, and is SO knowledgeable. Honestly, this whole place is inviting, very beautiful, and makes you so comfortable.
Not to mention the intake form, they really want to make sure you have a comfortable experience. They ask if you have anxiety about going to the dentist etc...
Allssoooo, the dentist chairs have little massagers in them, which is SO cool. AND they have flatscreens on the ceiling that you can choose any movie you want from Netflix, and they give you headphones. So if you're laying back for an hour or so getting a crown or whatever, you can just watch an entire movie. SO sick!
Thank you to the entire staff here, and Dr.Ebner, I appreciate you all so much.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Szervous Y.Phoenix, AZ73013428Aug 12, 2022
Went to another practice for years and years. Initially that practice had one dentist, soon there was a different dentist every time. One of those Dentists was Dr. Ebner a few years ago when she was moving from her Orange County location to here. I loved her! At that time, I couldn't find where she was located and Advanced Dental couldn't give out the info. However, she's unforgettable. Fast forward probably 2-3 years, when I was in the same building as her office, saw her name on the practice in the front entry, walked in and yes it was her! I immediately canceled my old Dentist appointments and made an appt for myself and my son.
I couldn't be happier - the level of comprehensive care that she has given me and my son is incredible. She detected grinding, a frenulum issue, checks your neck for cancers, confirmed that the "white fillings" that were advised to replace my silver fillings are not strong, like the silver ones were and that's why I needed continual re-do's. She's innovative (like her name), has new products, isn't a salesperson for $200 toothbrushes & $500 whitening. She is conservative re: premedicating with any orthopaedic implants and quoted literature regarding infections post hip replacements.
The office is super nice. The staff text you and are also accommodating. She says hi to her patients when they're in the waiting room. She remembers peoples names. She truly cares and loves what she does. Even my Dental Hygienist was incredible. This is how a business should be run. Very grateful to be well taken care of. Thank you!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Bree P.Laveen, AZ691May 30, 2023
I knew I needed a deep cleaning and wanted to find a real dentist rather than a chain practice. I found Dr. Ebner and liked the sound of her practice based on the website. I got scheduled right away for a deep cleaning and the hygienist was amazing! She worked quickly and didn't poke around in any area for too long, reducing the normal traumatic experience I usually have at dental visits. Definitely planning to stay with Dr. Ebner and her team long term. I have major dental anxiety and their calm approach was such a success for me!

Save yourself the trouble and stay away. There's plenty of good dentists out there. They are not upfront or honest.

It's frustrating to us when dental insurance says one thing over the phone and then does something different when they are asked to pay for a service.
- Katie L.Phoenix, AZ0111Apr 28, 2022
The staff is nice. That's pretty much where the good stuff ends though.
If you go here PLEASE triple check everything they tell you.
I was given an RX for antibiotics with the directions "take two tablets by mouth three times daily for ten days" but they only gave #32 tablets.
The dr instructed me to take 2 GRAMS of vitamin c, but the discharge paperwork states take 2 mg.
I was given a quote for a cash pay service at $600+ by one employee. Then when I asked in person for what their "dental membership" cost would be for that same procedure I was told they would "give a deal and charge the insurance allowable price"....which was the exact same price I was previously quoted for cash services.
Prior to having any procedures done, they were informed that a previous employer still had a dental plan active for me but that I under no circumstances agreed to them sending claims to the incorrect plan.
Surprise surprise when I find out not only did they bill to both dental plans, they also overcharged me per my dental carrier.
Extremely frustrating when you can't trust that any answer you're given for anything is accurate.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dave K.Phoenix, AZ043Feb 22, 2022Updated review
I've now been been a patient of Dr. Ebner's for over 2 1/2 years and have been very happy with her care. In my 51 years I've been to many dentist and she's by far the best. I was won over initially with the compassion she showed me during my first visit when I was dealing with an infected crown that had broken. Since then I've had many procedures done from cleanings to filling cavities and even dental implants. Unlike many dentists she has always been a straight shooter with me, giving me options with no pressure. Her whole team is always friendly and welcoming.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 23, 2020Previous reviewI will start off by saying that for most of my life I've not been a fan of dentists in general because of bad past experiences. My first experience with Dr. Ebner was in October 2019. I had a crown that broke partially off on a Friday night. I emailed her office and she came in on a Saturday(her day off) to treat me; I wasn't even a patient at the time. Since then I've had her work on several of my teeth. She truly cares about her patients and is very thorough in her examinations as well as the work she performs. She has also educated me on some health issues which had been contributing to dental issues I've had for some time. I've never experienced this level of treatment and care from another dentist.
Dr. Ebner is the best dentist I've ever received treatment from and plan on continuing to use her services for years to come! - Ec M.Long Beach, CA37473Mar 10, 2022
I really enjoyed this office visit. I have never laughed so much at a dentist appointment ever, the whole staff had such positive energy and made my whole appointment a great time.
