Ivy's Nyonya Cuisine

It was our good fortune that Kebaya was all booked out as our hotel concierge booked this for us as we wanted to have some Perenakan food for dinner. Set in a large house in a residential area, Ivy's is a rather quaint restaurant with a small air-conditioned dining room and an outdoor dining area of 3-4 tables. Best book the indoor tables if you are allergic to tropical heat.

We got the dinner set for two, with beef rendang and otah as an add-on. The dinner set is good for people who aren't familiar with nonya food as it has a good selection of fish, chicken, veggie dishes, and dessert. The star dish for me has to be the beef rendang and the fish cutlets from the set in a delightful tangy sauce.

Make a reservation as we came here on a Saturday night and it was packed! They close rather early, at 9pm, so don't come too late. The owner spent time to engage his customers, which I liked as it gave his personal touch to the hospitality. Authentic food, at great prices. It cost us RM129 for two even after over-ordering. Yum.
