We were thrilled to have Jeff on our side throughout the entire buying process. Despite a very competitive market with low inventory during the middle of a pandemic, Jeff always kept us pointed in the right direction to ultimately help us get the house we wanted on our first offer. In our first interview, his extensive questioning on our housing preferences, requirements, and nice-to-haves made us feel comfortable trusting in his experience right off the bat. It was clear that he understood what elements were important to us. Throughout all of our conversations, he was very friendly and had a great sense of humor which really helped during a stressful time. He was constantly reaching out to us through text and e-mail to make sure we didn't miss out on any opportunities.

Before and during each tour, he pointed out many pros and cons to each home that we were looking for, which contributed to our decision on each home. He always ensured everything was in compliance for COVID restrictions while we toured each home. We always felt safe and appreciated his dedication to detail. His after-tour briefs helped confirm or reconfigure housing elements that we found important.

When we found the house we wanted to purchase, he walked us through several strategies to build an offer we felt comfortable with. Even when competing with multiple other offers, he identified potential options that allowed us to ultimately have our offer selected. His expertise in the bid process was an immense relief to us and we were glad that we did not have to bid on multiple homes in this market. After our offer was accepted, he was able to help us negotiate several improvements, constantly working in the background with the other realtor to keep things moving. He kept us focused so we met every deadline and did not hold anything up on our end.
After our purchase, he made sure to follow up with us to see if everything was going well.

Overall, we were very happy with the home we selected and believe that Jeff was essential in getting us over the finish line. Due to the competitive market, we were worried that we would settle for a home that didn't meet our preferences, but he was there to constantly push us to keep our heads up and look at every opportunity. We would highly recommend Jeff as a realtor and appreciated everything he did to help us get our home!

For context, my husband and I have two experiences buying a home and one of selling a home. Additionally, in another life I was once a licensed real estate agent ... though, not what we would call a good one.

There are too many variables to deconstruct in order to give justice to the work and expertise Jeff brings to the table, and my attempts could only provide a technicolor simulacrum of my appreciation. So let's give it a shot.

EXPERTISE: this category is going to be too long to easily sum up, and my feeble brain has forgotten too much already. Suffice it to say at no time did we ask Jeff a question or express a concern that Jeff was unable to provide a minimally satisfactory answer to, or that felt forced or unreasonable. Adding to that, he was able to provide a wealth of resources even after we moved in - including for various contractors. Oh, and we pestered him A LOT, so ... yeah.

PATIENCE: there is no understating the importance of his incredible penchant for patience. My husband and I started off with some pretty hard set expectations for how to find a home (ie required features, price range, search area, and even taking charge of filling out our own list of home to see each week), and it took several weeks before we could get our home buying feet under us. During the entire time Jeff never pressured us to change our search parameters. Instead he let us come to our own conclusion while patiently answering our questions by phone, email, and over coffees (he offered to pay - but we were too fast for him). In short, my husband and I came to the table with a lot of expectations but very little of the experience, and at no point did Jeff get impatient or pressure us to change faster than we were ready.

CONVERSATION: omg, what a treat it was to converse with Jeff. Over the weeks we spent looking for a home plus selling our original home, we spent a lot of time talking; plenty about houses but equally as much about anything else. He was a pleasure to work with and a joy to talk to. It feels like we made a friend in the process of buying a home; which ... seems pretty special.

I just want to say that Jeff is an awesome realtor that went above and beyond to help me and my fiance buy our dream home! We were extremely lucky to be referred to him and i highly recommend him to anyone interested in buying a home. From start to finish he helped guide us through the whole process and was always available to answer any questions we had.

Our situation was a little out of the ordinary and was very difficult and frustrating at times (Nothing to do with Jeff!). He helped get us through it and for that I'm thankful. I worked with Jeff Hinds at Compass and the experience was truly outstanding. At every step of the way, Jeff's main concern was in helping me find the right house; worrying less about getting a quick sale and more about making sure that I understood what I was getting into. In a few cases, I probably would have made an offer and Jeff told me to hold off while he did some research which ultimately prevented a great deal of heartache. With Jeff's help, I eventually found a great home that I really love.

We were planning a cross-country move from Boston to San Diego with only 3-4 months to find a house, and Jeff was a life-saver as a buyer agent. He was very personable and friendly as well as being very organized. He was great to work with remotely and had experience with and understood the needs of remote clients. One particular challenge we could only come for a weekend to view all the potential houses, so we had to have a lot of good options all lined up for two days of visits.

He first got a good understanding of what we were looking for in a house, and then set up an automated search for homes based on the parameters we were looking for. We then favorited our top picks. He helped us do some pre-screening of the houses both based on his knowledge and by pre-visiting some of the houses for us. He then set up two full days of visiting 30+ houses during our weekend visit. He had a map where he planned our route for all the visits and printouts of all the details of the houses. At almost the end of the second day, we found a house that was perfect for us. He helped coach us in crafting the offer to get it accepted in a very tight market.

Jeff was also really helpful in the rest of the homebuying process. He referred us to an excellent mortgage agent (Chris Murphy at C2 Financial). He then made getting all the signatures easy with online verisign signatures that made closing remotely very easy. He has also been very helpful in referring us to contractors to help us in maintaining our house. We would definitely recommend Jeff as a buyer agent, especially for anyone working remotely.

I worked with Jeff twice to buy and sell my condo in Uptown San Diego. He is knowledgeable about the market, knows the right questions to ask and he is always courteous and on-time.

He is reachable, creative with his ideas and looks for properties that fit your space and financial needs. He will walk you through the hard or frustrating parts of the process and works hard to make the overall experience memorable and hassle-free.

I can't say enough about what a great Real Estate agent Jeff was for us. Some specifics that I appreciated:
1. He was very organized and prepared. Based on information I had given him about our family, he went out of his way to find information that would be specifically helpful to us and presented it all to us in a nice binder with community details for each home we looked at.
2. He was incredibly knowledgeable of all the communities in the greater San Diego area. We looked at homes in a variety of communities and he was able to answer questions about all of them.
3. He wanted us to find OUR dream home. We looked at homes in a wide variety of price ranges and ended up finding something perfect on the lower end of our range. He didn't push us at all to buy from the higher end which would have given him significantly higher commissions, he clearly wanted what was best for our family and was very supportive of our choice.
4. He took care of all the little details...we moved from northern california so we couldn't be here for every inspection, etc. Jeff followed up on everything and was as attentive as if he was the one purchasing the home. It was a huge relief to us.
5. Jeff was all around easy to work with, very professional and knowledgeable, always takes the time to answer any questions, and is just a genuinely good person.
