Ordered online for curbside pick up on the Saturday night before Mother's Day.
I waited less than a minute for my curbside order to come out. My daughter was wanting to fry Korean fried chicken and google suggested Joon's. The fried chicken was 10/10, so glad we didn't order the 1/2 because we wouldn't be able to share. The kimchi fried rice was very flavorful, but just a tad too spicy for us. I ordered the rice cake sticks for myself and it was so good! Not enough rice cake sticks for me but also just enough since we had the other food. It did get a little spicy for me after a few bites.
Would definitely recommend! We already have plans to go back next week to try new menu items.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashlynn J.Far North Dallas, Dallas, TX185125Sep 24, 2023
pork bulgogi was amazing! Beef bulgogi was on the drier side. lots of space inside! dine in is served in to-go containers and the business looks like it's looking to be sold soon! super nice space overall.

I ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice togo, which might as well be the eating option to consider since that's pretty much all they do now. It was very delicious and unique. It was savory and tart in flavor without being too salty or underdone. It was also super oily and stickier than any other fried rice I have ever eaten in any Asian category, but still great nonetheless. The egg on top was good on it and cooked just right. The meat pieces were tender. The meal was clearly made in an authentic manner and the kimchi was noticeable in the sauce used to prepare this rice. The cup of cold, mildly tart, mildly spicy kimchi and cucumbers were refreshing add-ons with my order. The service was good and fast. The portions are very generous and filling as well.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 2, 2022Previous reviewI ordered the Chicken Bulgogi meal earlier and it was very delicious n certainly abundant in chicken, oily red sauce, cabbage and jasmine rice. The flavor of my meal overall was a mix of kinda spicy n kinda sweet. Everything was very fresh. The chicken pieces were tender enough and had dark meat flavor. The red sauce was very oily, so I left enough of it out but had enough to give every chicken piece the flavor from it. The kimchi was fresh, juicy n kinda sour with a little spice to it. The rice was very subtly spiced, sticky and fresh. The service was good too. I was hoping they would be open for full service dine-in, but as of now, they're not. I plan to order the Kimchi Fried Rice next time I come here. Glad to find a great, authentic Korean spot not too far away from me.

First time here. They close at 8:30p and we walked in at 7:40p so we had almost one hour to eat and we are very respectful to closing times. The girl at the counter made it very clear right away they close at 8:30p. Got it. This is counter service and she was super unfriendly and seemed annoyed we were there. We had one menu question. Again, just annoyed. They do serve the food in to go containers only but do have tables so you can dine in. Lost one star for bad attitude and I can see I'm not the only one that had this experience. We really did feel unwelcome and that's never good.
The food was absolutely delicious and portions were very large and prices are fair. We would definitely go back but probably just order to go food and bring it home to eat.
We were done and out the door by 8:20p.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jordan W.La Porte, TX03Nov 17, 2023
Dear Joon's Kitchen family,
Thank you for many years of amazing meals, for being our meal of choice for good times and bad. For all the extra cucumber kimchi and best beef Bulgogi and dumplings in all of Houston. Please, if you decide to reopen let us know, we will be there in a second. We will miss you so much. We wish your family so much much happiness and prosperity in the future.
Sincerely, Jorge and Jordan MartinezHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Sep 14, 2021
Why 4 stars? Because the beef bulgogi was something I'd order again.
--- --- ---
I've wanted to try Joon's Kitchen for quite some time now because it's really close to my parent's house, but it just hasn't worked out when I've been visiting them. Recently I was with them for several days and was determined to finally experience Joon's.
The verdict is: I enjoyed it and would return. They were out of the Galbi when we ordered, but Beef Bulgogi is something I'm almost always down for. The meat was not the best I've had and it definitely wasn't the best looking, but my brother and I thought it hit the spot. The cucumber salad that came with it was amazing -Â I wish I had ordered an extra side of that.
In September of 2021 they were operating as a take-out only business -Â just an FYI for anyone wanting to dine-in.
Next time I'm visiting my parents, I would not mind trying something else - especially is the galbi is in stock. AHelpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Lady H.League City, TX1715Sep 3, 2023
The food are good but what kind of restaurant serves the food in Styrofoam when you dine in?
They should find someone friendlier to work there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Danny P.Porter, TX82143Jul 22, 2022
We just happen to be in Friendswood, which is a place that I'm not that familiar with. And we thought we'd have some Korean food so we googled and we ended up at Joon's
And I am sure glad we did! The food here is absolutely awesome. It is very very fresh and delicious and the portion size is... Well it comes in a to go container and that's a good thing because you're probably gonna take at least half of it home.
This place is absolutely amazing. I don't know that I'll make it back because it's so far from home but if I'm ever in the area again I sure will hit it again.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mika T.Sugar Land, TX164414Feb 3, 2023
Really like the chicken katsu and fried boneless wings!!
I've been coming to Joon's since the pandemic so about 3-4 years now. I really enjoy it that it's now become a weekly staple for me. It's probably one of the better Asian foods in the Friendswood area and probably the best Korean food in the Friendswood area.
The chicken katsu itself is good but the dip and sides (kimchi and cucumber kimchi) make it soooo good!! It's a pretty big portion too. I also like the boneless chicken wings with radish and I usually order rice with it too. I don't really remember much about the bibimbap and bulgogi because that's how much I order the Katsu!! I do think they were good just not what I crave.
The prices are probably closer to mid 10s but what isn't nowadays. It's also good portions.
The restaurant itself is definitely a family owned vibe. Not many people eating inside whenever I come but I'm usually getting it to go. The girl at the counter is always nice! You can order on their website for to go orders which I always appreciate.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
