I normally do not order sushi unless it's at an AYCE. However, my husband and I decided to give this place a try and we did not regret it! The quality of the fish is so fresh. And they are so generous on the sashimi slices - nice and thick! And the rice to fish ratio was perfect. We got the sashimi combo c, we got a handroll combo each, and a few sushi pieces (yellowtail, toro, and uni).
Service was great. Our waitress checked on us regularly and the food came out pretty quick. And we got there the last hour before they closed. So we didn't feel like they were rushing us at all which is great!
Would definitely return to try the other items on the menu!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lucy Y.Los Angeles, CA19317027645Mar 24, 2024
Super yummy sushi & sashimi, generous portions, & very sweet and attentive service!
We arrived on a weekday right before opening time, and were seated right away. Another party arrived at the same time, & the servers and sushi chefs were on top of their game with both tables. Food came out fast, & it was as gorgeous to look at as it was delicious:
* Combo #8, assorted sushi & sashimi
* Soft shell crab appetizer
* Yellowtail collar
* Uni bowl w/ikura
* Kobe handrolls
* Truffle Toro sushi
* Truffle Yellowtail sushi
Parking was super easy in the stripmall's lot. They are right next to Daiso & there are a lot of other fun stores around.
Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Danny S.Los Angeles, CA512812Mar 21, 2024
My first thought upon entering was it feels more like a cafeteria than a sushi restaurant. There were too many tables, too close together, and arranged in a grid just gave it that cafeteria feeling.
The staff at Kokoro didn't have thier act together. Our server couldn't answer basic questions about the food, and the starter salad we ordered was never delivered.
The sushi itself was not good, some pieces were falling apart, and the flavor was just not there. I was especially confused and disappointed by the soft shell crab appetizer. It came in two gigantic floppy pieces that were not conducive to chopsticks, for some reason it was served on a bed of imitation crab, and it tasted spoiled.
At the end the manager did remove the soft shelled crab from the bill and gave us a couple hand rolls as an apology, but I still would not recommend Kokoro. This is a sushi spot for people who don't know anything about sushi, I think plenty of people would be happy with this level of sushi if they don't know any better.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Feb 21, 2024
New favorite sushi spot! Their nigiri (yellowtail belly and scallop) surprised us, extremely tender.
+ Baked Scallop Roll ($14): small scallops over 8 California roll pieces (8/10)
+ Yellowtail Belly Sushi ($8.50 for 3pcs): very tender, well worth!! (9/10)
+ Jumbo Scallop Sushi ($8.99 for 2pcs): so soft and also sweet (9/10)
+ Egg Sushi ($5.99 for 2pcs): okay, wouldn't get again (6/10)Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1 - Feb 19, 2024Updated review
Decided to stop by here for another try. Second time was definitely better than the first time. It was pretty full when we got there for dinner time, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Quick and friendly service.
We ordered the sushi combo c (chef's choice), baked lobster roll, and takoyaki. The sushi was the best dish. Each piece was so delicious and just melts in our mouths. The sushi combo is highly recommended over the bento boxes.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 21, 2023Previous reviewKeep seeing this place on Yelp and every time we're in the ELAC area. We finally came here for dinner. It was pretty empty with only one other party next to us. You place the order thru their iPad devices.
We ordered the salmon teriyaki bento & spicy pork bento. The dinner bento box prices were a bit higher, but it comes with bigger portion. There was way too much teriyaki sauce over the salmon so it wasn't good. The other items in the bento box were okay, but not great. I really liked the salmon sushi tho. It tasted very fresh and delicious. I would come back and only order that item.
They're located next to Daiso in the CVS Plaza across from Ralph's and Rite Aid. Ample parking spaces in the lot. - Elizabeth B.Los Angeles, CA02117Apr 26, 20241 check-in

Kokoro really got my heart in awe of their food. Their menu is quite extensive with Korean dishes and Japanese cuisine. I was surprised to see raw marinated crab and shrimp here and I will come back one day to try them. For now, I'll review their bento boxes and sushi - FANTASTIC!
They're located in a plaza, with plenty of parking. Their ambience has a modern touch and very spacious. Service was quick and friendly.
It's a great deal with their bento boxes. It's the same price lunch or dinner and it comes with a lot. Depending on the entree you get, it may different $2-$3. I ordered the salmon teriyaki and my friend ordered the katsu. Both came with miso soup, rice, salad, chicken karage, gyoza, shrimp and veggie tempura, 4 california rolls and 3 sushi (tuna, salmon and albacore(?)). All of these sides were yummy and had a good amount.
We ordered one of their sushi rolls, Kamikaze, and it was tasty! The eel sauce came through with the freshness of the sushi.
At the end of the meal, they gave us instant coffee, hazelnut flavor! A perfect way to end a good meal. I will definitely come back here and try out the Korean dishes, along with other sushi options!Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0 - 5613101161Feb 28, 2024
Stopped by for dinner on a Thursday night and got a table right away around 6:30 PM. The service was super quick and friendly. We tried a bunch of different nigiri, sashimi, and bowls. My favorites were the truffle toro and toro sashimi. The fish was really good quality and you definitely get your money's worth. Will be back!

The service is quick here and very hospitable. It has a small business family vibe here and cozy. I love the blue wall decor and lighting setup makes it feel a bit more upscale and the tinted windows gives you more privacy as a diner.
Free parking out front easy.
They have a very creative presentation and combination of ingredients here to change up your typical sushi experience. I found their portion size to be better than average along with the freshness being high quality as well.
The nigiri pieces and hand rolls were definitely stand out items and would recommend you try them. They also have a varied mix of textures used with tempura, baked, crispy and pressed styles of sushi.
Sushi tacos here are large and unique that you won't find elsewhere!
Large menu that will appeal to a large audience with different palatees as well. They also do a fantastic job on their Instagram to show case new and special rotating items.
Great for large groups and families as well.Helpful 1Thanks 3Love this 4Oh no 0
