This place was extremely overpriced. 15€ for toast and a jar of Foie Gras??? Bullshit. I asked, but they insisted it was correct. 15€ for ravioli. I was pissed. Will never be back. Avoid this place!

This used to my local restaurant when I used to live in Rue Oberkampf between 2003-2005. Although I left Paris 7 years ago, I still like to come back here whenever I'm in town. I've taken many friends (French & Foreign) over the years... held job interviews, business meetings, birthdays... and every single time, dinner has been a raging success !

Memorable food here... the foie gras (which is beautifully made... almost 'cru', un-f-ing believable). The duck confit is also perfect... completely 'fall off the bone'... and the 'pommes salardaises' are superbly seasoned. I've had the 'souris d'agneau' (lamb shank) several times, and it's also been subject to a 'fall off the bone - i've been stewing for hours - yes this piece of meat is now officially dead' treatment. Again, memorable.

The wine selection is simple, but excellent, and this place so won't break your bank. In the era of credit crunches, and economic austerity, L'Estaminet is like a beacon of light in the heart of darkness.

Oh. And save space for dessert. You won't regret it.

I came to Paris after 15 years of living abroad. This is THE kind of restaurant I was looking for! It is charmingly authentic, amazingly good (home style cooking), the wine was perfect for my taste and meal, and the service superbly professional without being too heavy or stuffy. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for all Americans visiting Paris.

Delicious food in a beautiful, laid-back atmosphere. I went between 9:45-11:15 PM, and the entire time there were many people seated outdoors enjoying drinks, conversation, and the occasional meal-- this was just the ambiance I had been envisioning as an American tourist hoping to get "an authentic Parisian experience," whatever that means. My French skills are limited and waitress only spoke to me in French, but her friendliness and gestures made it clear what she meant. I ordered the duck, which was perfectly cooked and quite flavorful, as were the potatoes and salad served with it. (Ask for olive oil with the bread-- their olive oil is delicious!)

This is the sort of place you really need reservations for. Great and tucked down a pretty major "food street" in the 11th. Menu is all written on a chalkboard and changes week to week. Great atmosphere, not a lot of tables, and just laid back. Will definitely be back soon.

All right, all right, here is the best kept secret in Paris. Vegetarian do not apply here, sorry!
You can order huge salades du terroir, some good steak tartare, escargots and French fries...A bottle of rose and you can eta till late at night. Not touristy so keep it that way! lots of locals, good prices. Every time I go to France I have to have at least a dinner there...

Great to go with friends or for a romantic dinner with your partner, lover...

Very old French bistro atmosphere, authentic, kind of what a lot of restaurant are trying to recreate here but can't. I LOVE IT

The menu is on the blackboard on the walls, and they have a portable blackboard for at-table choices; neither are especially legible. The portable blackboard only mentions wines, so you'll likely need to go inside to see what beers they have.

Be careful sitting on the sidewalk; the kitchen has its own door and the chefs like to smoke A LOT.

Be careful about ordering the Estaburger cooked "medium", because that word doesn't mean what you think it does.

The staff is bilingual (Fr/En), which helps when trying to sort out that blackboard problem.

Very good authentic, comforting French food. The food had a lot of butter and heavy. However, everything we had was delicious, the lamb and duck was the best. The meat was tender and sauces went well with it. I wouldn't eat here everyday as I am sure you will pack on the pounds but over all it was a great dinning experience. They had an english menu. And the waiter knows english and didn't pretend he doesn't. So for the sake of comfort after a long day of walking around Paris and sight seeing it was nice to sit down and treated with kindness even if you don't speak French.

Wonderful authentic french food. I went here for my last dinner in Paris. I had the escargot for an appetizer. I still dream about it and my mouth is watering as I think of it now. For my entree I had the scallops. Cooked to perfecion. Not overly cooked and chewy. As stated previously, you will taste the butter, the yummy fat in every dish is sublime. The owner was my waiter and was very nice and cute I might add. The wine was perfect. The minute I come back to Paris, I am coming back to this place. If you want a truly authentic parisian and non touristy dining experience, try this place.
