This restaurant is vey close to the entrance of the temples. It's maybe a little touristy, but still the food is very good. We only got a sampler plate of local cheeses and cold cuts and particularly liked the smoked mozzarella.

We had one of the best meals of our trip at. la Bottega Del Gusto. The caprese was superb--perfectly ripe tomatoes with milky fresh mozzarella. The Insalata Athena was lovely, crisp fresh fennel with oranges, olives and pine nuts. And the local charcuterie was delicious. Portions are generous-- these are not small plates. Service was friendly and attentive. We ate literally across the street from this amazing site, which boasts three of the best preserved Greek temples anywhere. Highly recommended.

Our B&B host in Vico Equense (a foodie chef) said to make sure to have the local mozzarella in Paestum. We asked the ticket-taker at the archaeological site where to try some, and he recommended this place, which I would have skipped, thinking it's too close to the tourist attractions. Wrong. We had lunch there and I was OVER THE MOON with the amazing local treats. We used our broken Italian and they were very gracious. Don't miss it if you're in Paestum or nearby. (We sat outside under the shade of an umbrella.)

Cosi buono a questi prezzi....un paradiso. Volevo mangiare tutto ma purtroppo lo stomaco mi ha fermato. E' stato tutto perfetto. Tornerò a Paestum solo perché voglio assaggiare altre cose.
