I'm in New Jersey for a few days working. I looked up pizza places close to me and saw La Famiglia and the pictures of the pie reeled me in. My family owns and operates a pizza joint back in Saint Louis, so needless to say, I consider myself a pretty serious pizza enthusiast. I ordered the drunken Grandma pie with the vodka sauce. We added a couple extra toppings, but I am dead serious that this is one of the best pizzas I've had in my life. The flavor of the sauce is incredible. The crust is PERFECTION. All around great pizza and there should be a line down the block for this pizza. I'm in town for one more night and might actually get it again. Fugggetttaboutit!

Solid pizza, and friendly service. And it's nice to have a sit-down restaurant in this neighborhood.

This place is AWESOME. If you are looking for very good, 'real' Italian food, come here. I'm back and it's my second time... lol.
Pasta was fresh and tasty. Meatball sub was great! Caprese salad was delish! The staff was nice too.
And now, I'm trying the pizza. I'll keep y'all posted!
Edited: the pizza is VERY GOOD. The sauce tastes fresh, and they put a good balance of the toppings. It just works.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Caroline O.Belleville, NJ13914Jul 7, 2023First to Review
For a place that has no Yelp ratings, I was a little unsure of what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was quiet for a Saturday night, as it appears they get a lot of business from takeout and delivery. It was a very laidback, casual vibe, which I appreciated.
We ordered the fried calamari and a personal pizza with pepperoni cups and long hots. The fried calamari was excellent! The coating was light and crispy, and the calamari was super super tender. The marinara sauce it was served with was also very good. When ordering the pizza, we noticed the option to order extra thin crust. Because we wanted to try their standard pizza first, we ordered it as it came. The flavors were very good - the sauce and cheese and toppings were fresh and tasty, though I wish I the pepperoni cups had crisped up a bit more. I tend to prefer a thinner crust, so this particular pie was not to my exact preferences, but it was still very good for what it was - more of a doughy, soft crust. Next time, I'd definitely request the thin crust.
I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come back here, but it's a nice place to try if you're in the area or catching a show at Paper Mill Playhouse.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Cynthia M.Hillside, NJ15310Nov 12, 2023
I was very excited to try this place because I love the selection of their menu. We ordered the hot honey calamari and broccoli rabe with sausage for apps. The calamari was hard and the honey was watery and not hot at all. The sausage was good.
For dinner I had the penne vodka with chicken and my husband had the sausage ravioli. The vodka sauce was like water and had zero flavor. The chicken was diced up so tiny you could barely even see it or taste it. The ravioli were supposed to be stuffed with sausage but they were regular cheese ravioli (definitely not homemade either).
The service was good. The atmosphere is terrible. The yellow table cloths are ugly and the lights were so bright it feels like dining in a cafeteria. The neighborhood is also extremely sketchy. We did not feel safe driving there or walking to our car in the lot behind the building.
We were there prime time on a Friday night and it was empty only one other table and only 2 people came in the pick up take out.
Needless to say, for $80, we were very disappointed and will not return.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Yadira C.Old Toronto, Toronto, Canada03Mar 5, 2024

i order pizza from this place every friday this friday i ordered pizza and shrimp oregano with mashed potatoes and spinach. It was disgusting. The shrimp were fried hard semi-burnt pictures to follow. My husband also ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, terrible. I'm really disappointed in this place. I don't know if they were trying to tell us something not to come back I don't know pictures to follow.

Hungry and hopeful for a good Italian meal, we detoured off the Garden State Pkwy to discover this delightful family restaurant. My husband's Rigatoni Bolognese was steaming hot and delicious. My Burrata salad and Eggplant Rollatini were delicious as well. They've only been open for 3 months and the pride behind these family recipes shines through every bite.
