*First time experience at La Michoacana*
This was my first time being introduced to La Michoacana, not knowing what to expect inside! This store just looks like another ice cream bar inside, but has the most unique variety of ice cream and sherbet. I'd say there are about 30 different flavors, excluding the fresh popsicles! Some of the ice cream flavors are also boozy and require ID to taste. They have all of the traditional flavors you would find at another ice cream stop, but other flavors include dried fruits and nut varieties. The servers inside speak spanish and english.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 290116508Jun 1, 2023
This restaurant is a fantastic authentic Mexican restaurant located near Chester, Virginia. Ran by a Mexican family, there are tons of delicious traditional Mexican snacks and desserts that can be bought. There is also a bakery where you can purchase traditional Mexican baked goods. My friends who are Mexican both enjoyed an Esquite (which is essentially an elote in a cup). I enjoyed a delicious Mangonada while my husband had a coconut popsicle. All of this was so refreshing post hike at the James river walkway on a hot sunny day. The service was very quick although the restaurant was very busy. The vibes were also amazing and there was many diverse groups who came to the restaurant. If I'm back in this area I will definitely be returning.

This isn't the best Michoacána but it's the only one on this side of town. There's one much better in the near west end.
The frozen strawberry and cream was ok and the staff people weren't very helpful nor welcoming.
I was definitely disappointed.
They have a large array of flavors and drinks. Something for everyone if you're willing to try.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 231188495Jun 7, 2021
Reaaaaaalllllly good ice cream. Interesting flavors. Hope to try more. I had the mango and chili and blackberry and queso. My mother had the pinion (pine nut. All were amazing. And I'd love to try their tostiloco sometime.

La Neveria Michoacana is worth going out of the way for when you're in need of a sweet treat! From fruity and tangy to smooth and creamy, they have a variety of flavors to suit anyone's cravings. The ice cream itself is thick, with a nice pull to it. I particularly enjoy their fruit flavors because they actually taste like the real deal since they are packed with so much fruit. They also serve homemade popsicles and savory snacks.
I really enjoy their mangonada, which has their mango ice cream topped with fresh mango and tangy chimoy. You can actually see the mango fibers in the ice cream, the fresh mango on top has always been very ripe, and their chamoy isn't too syrupy or gnawingly sweet. It's downright addicting and the best mangonada I've had!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jun 15, 2019
Hidden gem! I have been looking for places that serve mangonada and elote and this was it. My sister pointed me in the right direction. It is located in a small strip. Their sign was not visible from the road, I could have easily missed it. It was just a white sign that needs replacement.
I was immediately greeted upon entering. I told the employee my order and waited for it to be made. I ordered 2 elotes (one in a cup & one cob) and one mangonada. As I waited, I browsed their selection of ice cream and popsicles. Their popsicle selection looked so good, beyond good actually. They were only $2 I believe.
I received my order and paid which was about $11+.
The elotes were nice and warm. They were so good. The cob was seasoned perfectly. The cup version however seemed to have more of the sauce and not enough of the chili seasoning to add in a little kick. As you eat the cup version, it will tend to get watery from the corn when you get to the bottom. If you want a mess free experience, I suggest getting it in the cup though. Regardless, I liked both a lot! I enjoyed the mangonada, I'm a huge fan of sweet and spicy flavors and it hit the spot.
I am already planning my next visit and hoping to explore the bakery next door.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amanda N.Norfolk, VA036Apr 25, 2022
This is a great shop! We stopped in for ice cream while visiting the area and I'd definitely go out of my way to go back. The options and selection are incredible, so many delicious flavors to choose from! The ones we ended up picking were amazing, smooth and creamy. And the portion is substantial, especially considering how reasonably priced it was.

Solo hablo un poco español y ellos son muy simpático. I got the strawberry cream and it was the best dessert I've had in a while! They take cash and card (exact change is requested). Super busy when we went and understandably so, it's a great place!

The ice cream is pretty good and they have other desserts to choose from which I really like. I've tried their arroz con leche which was pretty good. I would definitely recommend anyone who hasn't been to try it.
