I recently went to Last Chance Auto Repair for some much-needed repairs on my truck and they were amazing!
Ron took the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly explain the repairs needed making sure I understood the process and the associated costs. His honesty was refreshing as I've had negative experiences with other local repair shops in the past. This attention to detail further instilled confidence in their abilities and professionalism.
The manager Jamie kept me informed throughout the entire repair process providing regular updates on the progress and any additional findings. Their communication was prompt and courteous making me feel valued as a customer.
They also provided a detailed breakdown of the costs upfront, ensuring there were no surprises when it came time to settle the bill. I appreciated their transparency and felt that I received excellent value for the quality of work performed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura R.Seminole, FL843Apr 13, 2023
Very disappointed in the way my husband and I were treated. Bought a Groupon for an oil change to try them out as I've been looking for a good honest repair shop for my 2018 Kia and 2014 Hyundai when needed. Just setting up the appt was frustrating as the gentleman on the phone mansplained the difference in full synthetic oil and regular oil (which I know full well and kept telling him I know, but he would talk over me with "but I'm sure you don't know....) then told me he wouldn't even take my car if it was over the mileage on the oil change sticker.
Made the appt and told him I would need to wait for the car. It's a 40 roundtrip drive and my husband and I were on a time crunch with other appts before and after. Get there, no place to park, husband jumped out to check in while I tried to find a place to respectfully not be in the way of any cars they may need to move (small packed lot with cars randomly double parked everywhere). He walks in, no lobby or waiting room or obvious place to check in, and has to walk between two cars on lifts being worked on to get to the back to talk to someone. He was was greeted with "sit down Sport!" Sport? Really? Was that because of the way he looked? The way he was dressed? Why not "sir" or just no address at all? And he didn't even ask what he was there for?! I come in, find him, and the gentleman looks at me, then back at him and condescendingly says to my husband "It takes two of you's, huh, can't do this on your own?" I tell him it's my car, we're running other errands together, and I'm there for an oil change. He tells me they're running 45-50 minutes behind schedule!? I ask him why they didn't call to let me know? If I were running 45 min behind for my appt, I would have definitely called them, but they probably wouldn't have even taken me! It's just respect for other peoples time! He follows up with, "I don't have your number". I point to the dry erase board right next to him with my name, number, and appt time and say, "it's right there." No apology, "well, we can't get to you for another hour". There's 3 dingy seats against the wall of the shop 20 feet from a mechanic working on a car up on the lift. Not safe at all. I told him I couldn't wait and would have to reschedule. Came home and cancelled my Groupon for a refund. Won't go there again. If you're a female or love a female and care about the way they are treated, don't go here. "Rough around the edges I can handle" I work in a male dominated industry. But disrespect of me AND my husband, I won't put up with. Too old for that crap!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Brenda H.Plainfield, IL02Oct 21, 2022

I attempted to get a rebuilt engine. I first called , and he asked me to obtain additional information on the engine. I then called back to provide info, he stated he would get back to me. I waited a few days and no response. I then visit the establishment and he acted like it was the first time we ever discussed the engine. He takes my info down again, and states that he will call me in the afternoon to give me a quote. Needless to say, I never got the call. I call the next day and his assistant answers and says that he is busy and that she'll have him call me back. He never calls back. I then call two days later, and he says that he would need to get the info from his assistant. Needless to say, I was getting the runaround. Eff this place!

My apologies JB for any confusion, but we don't sell rebuilt engines. We do offer an engine replacement service where we will replace your vehicle's engine with a new engine, crate engine, used engine, re-man aka re-manufactured engine, customer supplied engine, and or even a rebuilt engine but we DO NOT specifically just sell rebuilt engines.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out through me directly through the Yelp message options or email us directly at info@LastChanceAutoRepairs.com, otherwise good luck with your rebuilt engine search and have a nice day. - Silk W.Bolingbrook, IL370157756Aug 21, 2018Updated review
It never fails. What never fails ? You ask. The great service that I get from Last Chance Auto Repair. You know what does fail? Automobiles! In my opinion and/or experience, cars are destined to cause you problems that will cost you a great deal of money. Every time, I have any issue with any vehicle I take it over the last chance auto repair shop. I always get a better rate in comparison to places like NTB or Firestone. I think the key is that you will be dealing with a family owned business rather than a corporation. I will always support a family business over corporate businesses Period!
Last chance is always very quick to return my vehicle to me. I always get good service, and I will be returning in the future.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

I am usually in that area so its great for me. I know many friends and family who have used Last Chance. They work on old cars, new cars, and I believe I saw a few projects going on in there as well. I have been using Ron's services for about four to five years because he was recommended to me by my best friend, who thinks very highly of the business. Ron has always provided exceptional services and he still provides the best services in the area. Some say he is a little ruff around the edges, but he has a heart of gold and will never take advantage of you. His quotes are honest and when repairing your vehicle if he finds something else wrong he will call and advise you of the situation and tell you if the repair can wait, that is honesty at its best. One thing I will say is that Ron knows cars and he knows how to fix them and he does it very well. Would I recommend "Last Chance ? Yes, I would in a heart beat recommend Last Chance and the team that supports the business.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 29, 2013Previous reviewI took my 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ in because the rear air ride shocks were not holding any air in their bags. Now I thought I did my homework on the Internet looking for these shocks which range from 550.00 to 800.00 each. Well I called Ron, the owner of Last Chance Auto Repair, and told him about a few that I researched and I needed mine replaced, he immediately advised me that I should go with an AC Delco brand and he needed to see my truck to determine which model to order. He advised that he had tried them all before realizing that this Air Ride should was of the best quality and they fit and work. To make a long story short he found the right shocks and also found a bad front barring, I knew I heard a weird noise when driving over 45 mph. Ron called and told me he would change it with a quality one. I picked my truck up and the ride is solid. Now I will say this to all those woman who are afraid of going to a auto garage without the help of a man, Ron is your man, he will take good care of you and will not hassle or rip you off. Men if you are looking for a quality service garage and want your vehicle checked out throughly, then I recommend that you go see Ron and lets not forget his son Corey, he's a great and friendly guy too. Forever on the road and keeping the petal to the metal, thanks to Last Change Auto Repair, your friend......Greg

I called them this morning needing a battery replacement. Luckily I was at my house, so I told them there was no rush. They got to me around 6 pm and replaced the battery in about 10 minutes. Kept me in the loop during the day. Solid communication. Will absolutely use them again if necessary.

Hello Kati J! Are you sure you have the right auto repair shop? Nobody here is sexist what-so-ever, maybe a little sexy if anything. We do have 3 ladies that love working here and or maybe they just love sexy guys. We treat everyone the way we want to be treated. We're all about being good and doing good. We feel bad that you are not happy, regardless if you have us confused with another business. We specialize in turning frowns upside down and whatever we can do to help, we're here for you.
- Tj O.Warrenville, IL1577Aug 27, 2020
If you want to be overcharged by sexiest mechanics then this is the place you want to go. They were very disrespectful to me and female friends of mine that have gotten service here. Do not go here because they will be disrespectful. The main issue stems from the sexiest disrespectful owner and his son. Also be advised they have cameras recording you without signs up saying so. So, in conclusion, if you need automotive repairs done then choose a tuffy or Midus because anything is better then being over charged because of your sex and disrespected.

We are truly sorry that we weren't able to make your friend Meghan Rusniak happy in this situation but you've never been to our automotive repair shop, used any of our services, talked to or met anyone from our shop, nor have anything to do with your friend's experience. We've learned through the many years that you just can't make everyone happy, all we can do is try.
I'll tell you what we have told your friend and her father numerous times. Once again my apologies for any confusion and for taking a little bit longer to get back to you with a quote due to the vehicle had to be diagnosed in order to quote anything, the reason it was up in the air on the rack as you have stated all over the internet but just not here. It wan't being worked on it was being diagnosed so we can quote the service for you like you wanted us to. This wan't a job that could just be simply quoted if it was we would have gotten back to you right away. Things did have to unfortunately come apart in order to determine what was all leaking and we dd try explaining it to both you and your father.
When you overheat a vehicle multiple times like you stated and all the coolant comes out it can unfortunately damage the engine, block, cylinder heads, to the point it turns into a very costly repair. How costly? It depends on the damage, that can only be determined during the diagnosing of the problem. We do feel bad that your vehicle let you down in this case and we tried giving you all the options including the more cost effective temporary fix, that could have turned permanent, that would have helped you get by until you figured out what to do next. I'm not sure why you didn't want to talk to us about it. That was why you brought it to us and that is also why your father decided to step in and reach out to me personally. Your father and I tried to negotiate a deal to help you out which you turned down. Unfortunately I couldn't knock 50% off the price so your father and I both agreed to not proceed.
Now for the breakdown of the $259.29 temporary fix that we did offer you to help you get by. Our labor rate is one of if not the lowest in the local area. We did (try to) explain to you and your father the diagnostic time should have been $150 but we charged you $95 which we would have discounted that price if you would have proceed with the repair. As for the repair: your thermostat was probably way over due to be changed, malfunctioning or it was damaged. Your father told me that he could change it in 30 minutes or so and it sounded like he wanted to try to do it to help save you some money. I did tell him that I looked it up in our automotive service industry time estimating computer programs (that we pay good money for) and that it stated according to the industry leader Chilton's time about 1.5 hours which times our labor rate equals about $150 just in labor. With the discounted diagnostic fee added that comes to $245. That is before the thermostat, thermostat housing, gasket, o ring, sealer and coolant aka the parts that were all also needed. To keep it short and sweet your vehicle takes about 2 gallons or so of coolant. Depending on the type & quality of coolant that will run you $30-40. Thermostat maybe $10-20. Everything else needed when all added up together is somewhere around $325-350 or more.
This being said with a sad face, the lady you 1st spoke with hence the lady you dealt with at the time of drop off and the majority of the time and my father truthfully felt uncomfortable even trying to talk to you. That is why we were dealing with your father which we did apologize to you and your father for. Having to make a police report due to the way you were acting, slandering customers and our business is uncalled for but is what our lawyer recommended especially after watching and listening to the video of the way you were acting.
I was truthfully looking forward to meeting you and your father. When I pulled up and got out of my car you jumped out of your car and started yelling and screaming at me like I was a customer that you were trying to scare away in a slandering manner. Then the double bird middle fingers when you found out I worked there was shocking to say the least. Then as you ran over to talk to your father and I, it felt like I wanted to go to church and pray. You seem like a really cool person. I wish we could go back in time and start over with me shaking your hand the 1st time you walked in the door.
