I have had this firm repair my garage door openers in the past so when I had a problem I called them again. My problem was that the door opened with the button mounted on the wall but not from any of the remotes. Lavallee came out next day and the service man told me that my circuit board was shot , but that they are expensive and the solution is to replace the unit. based on the cost I decided to leave "as is", and would only use the wall mounted switch to open and close the door which is an inconvenience. I will add that the tech was VERY nice. he didn't have all the proper equipment with him so he left and came back. He felt bad he was able to repair the unit after making 2 trips so he said he wouldn't charge me for the service call.
A few days later the office called me and said since I didn't buy the new unit I needed to pay for the service call which was $90. makes sense and I paid - even though tech said appointment would be free.
I called another firm, Precision Door to come look at the problem and they arrived at the same conclusion - shot circuit board. BUT, they had an external device they connected to my unit that came with a remote and I was back in business in less than an hour for considerably less than what was quoted by Lavallee. Lavallee didn't do anything wrong, per se (except tech saying no charge) - but Precision was more efficient, quicker and less expensive.

I called today because of a broken door spring. They said they would need a credit card over the phone before they come out to my location just to see the door. They had no record of my company even though they had been there before.

A spring snapped on my garage door over the weekend and I called Lavallee first thing Monday morning. They were at my house by noon. The technician was courteous, fixed the issue I called about and made some adjustments to both garage doors so they were running smoothly. The price was about what I expected. I almost didn't call them because of the complaints about price, but I was glad I did. I would use them again.

Overpriced.
Very good, skilled installers and repair folks. They installed my doors ~5 years ago. But today they charged me $217 for minor maintenance that took 30 minutes - replace small parts, oil the tracks. Incredibly overpriced, they lost me as a customer.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kenny I.Columbia, CT2844Dec 2, 2016
zero customer service ! Lavalle overhead door installed 2 new 10 foot doors and openers for me . Both openers have problems , they do not stop when the door hits the floor . The openers keep pushing down and tear the bolts right out of the doors . It is a good thing there is no kid or pets under the door because it would crush them as it was pushing down so hard it rips all the bolts right off the door . I have called there many times to get them to help . There are plenty of other companies out there that do doors , don't ever spend any money with this company ! ZERO SUPPORT AFTER THE SALE !

DOESN'T DISCLOSE EXTRA CHARGES -
I called Lavallee Overhead Door on 11/1/2012 to get price to replace cable on garage door. I was told the labor would be $90 for first half hour and $50 for each additional half hour, plus parts.
When repair guy arrived, he suggested I also replace the springs and pulleys when he is replacing the cables. He gave me price on parts and said that labor would be $140 for a hour and he should be able to replace everything within an hour. I agreed to have him do work.
He was able to get the work done in 59 minutes. He then billed me $190 for labor saying the extra $50 was his driving time from South Windsor - which is 7.2 miles away.
I complained that it was never disclosed I would also be paying $50 driving time and was told that was company policy. I called the company to complain and both Sharon
and Scott said they were sorry that it was never disclosed that I would have to pay and additional $50 for driving time, but that they would do nothing about it. I was told I would be sued if I did not pay the total bill.
Do not use Lavallee Overhead Door !!!!!!.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
