Barbara was excellent! She provided me insight on the whole court process. I wasn't in the dark and she kept us aware during the entire time. Her prices were very reasonable, and she was willing to accommodate. I will definitely use her services again!

People probably go to paralegals because they can't afford an actual attorney, but if your case is fairly easy, just go to the court and do it yourself! Don't make the same mistake I did when I went to Barbara. She made a really easy case harder than what it's supposed to be, and it took way longer because of her mess up.
I hate to give her a one star because she works for herself, but the fact that she messed up bad according to the two family attorneys at the court made me think it's necessary to leave a review to save other people from a really bad service.
Barbara, first told me that there's two steps to filing the case and the first step will cost me $350. The next step she said that it would be about $350 or less depending on my income from the last 2months(the less I make, the cheaper it would be. She apparently works on some pro bono cases). Then, when we can finally move forward to the next package, she said that it would be $495. I reminded her about the pricing she had mentioned in the beginning, but she said she doesn't remember saying that and that it's not anywhere on her notes. She said that the best she can do is $425. Honestly, I would've paid the 495 if she would've said that in the very beginning, because I REALLY DIDN't want to do it on my own since I had so many jobs and I'm a single parent, but it's the principle. Barbara, probably quoted me less in the beginning because she knew that my case is fairly easy, but the fact that she knew that she had messed up and my case required more work because of her, she charged me more or said I can finish my case on my own if I didn't want to pay for her service for the 2nd package. So, I decided to finish the case on my own. I was asking her questions via text after to at least help me out on where to start and go. I was so CLUELESS! She DID NOT RESPOND to any of my questions, but then hours later she texted and said , "Hi Jenyl. I'm going to leave your docs with the receptionist with your permission?". I went to her office the next day, but when I got to her office she wasn't there yet and my documents weren't with the receptionist. I then I had the chance to see her in person and I again asked the questions that she completely ignored to answer. She told me things I needed, and one specific one she showed me was a Manila envelope. She said I only needed one... my mind was blown at the fact that she couldn't even offer to give me what was in her hand since I only needed ONE! She brags about doing so many pro bono cases, yet was so stingy with one envelope that she was willing to give extra of when I first hired her.
When I finally got to the court, the family law attorney assumed that I was the one who filed my case alone and said that since I messed up so bad on the verbiage, I had to take extra steps to proceed. That's when I realized that's probably the reason why Barbara, was charging me more or suggested that I can finish it on my own. The lawyer helping me suggested that I file against the paralegal I hired from small claims.
Next step that the lawyer told me to do was have my ex fill up a bunch of paperwork, which I knew he wasn't capable of and another reason why I wanted to hire someone to make things easy. As I expected, it took weeks til I got the paperwork back and when I finally received them, the only thing filled was the signature line. Not even his name was printed. He wanted me to just make anything up for him. I wanted to give up at this point. I was so lost! I walked in the court and spoke to a different lawyer to ask for advice on what I can do since my ex won't comply. The lawyer pretty much reiterated on how bad the filing was done and said that if it was done correctly, I would've had my divorce done by 02/2020 without needing any paperwork from my ex but just him being served and not respond. The 2nd lawyer told me that I should've just went straight to them and that paralegals are usually pretty clueless.
What then she suggested for me to do was start from scratch again and redo the same application that Barbara did. EXACTLY what the lawyer said as we were filling it out together. I paid someone $350 to make this harder! She even highlighted all the mistakes that Barbara did. She didn't even write the right amount of months we were technically married, and didn't write that we already have a child support opened (which I told her we had). I texted Barbara to tell her what both the lawyers told me and she said that she's been doing this for too long and that she's always used the same verbiage and tactics and never had a problem. She also said that every lawyer and paralegal has different ways of filing... not according to the family lawyers from the court that helped me. Barbara was still so proud and unapologetic. I even sent her a screenshot of the highlighted paperwork that the lawyer gave me to show her and small claims. I'll also post screenshots of our convo!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle M.Plymouth, MN091Mar 26, 2021
Total waste of money. I could of and should of done everything myself. My attourney was late to every meeting. She was late to our court hearing to the point we had to wait (Good thing we were the last ones called) & not to mention she smelled and was covered in dog hair. After we lost my case, she continued to text me. and she never sent me my final papers for court. This was a couple years ago, but as I was looking for another attourney, I came across this and thought id leave a review.

Please be advised that Legal Angels Paralegals and The law office of the attorney complained about are 2 separate entities. Paralegals do not go to court!

In an attempt to avoid attorneys fees I found Legal Angels and hoped with all my might that this would be an honest, helpful place I could file my divorce. It was! My ex was nothing less than difficult. He delayed paperwork and was just not cooperative but even though I wanted to get it done ASAP, I wasn't initially in a terrible hurry either. It was a very long process and after filing the MSA it took the court over 4 months to sign the judgement, but Barbara was very helpful and always answered my calls and texts. She's kind and she really wants to help.

Barbara is truly an "Angel"
I thought that I could get an uncontested divorce filled on my own just to find out how many levels of bureaucracy I had to deal with ...... She took me in the same day and after a few ours she took care of the rest.
If you have a need to consult someone honest, give them a call.
Thank you.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Melissa N.San Diego, CA2662661163Mar 25, 2015First to Review
Barbara Roe from legal angel paralegals works fast and is very honest. She works quick or maybe we just are good hearted people not trying to screw each other over. People who fight still have loads of hurt, we are not hurt so that combined with Barbara's skills made this divorce go smooth. 30 days from tomorrow we will be single.
