Lucky Taco - Cantina & Tap Room

Great local taco place I stumbled across looking for some good lunch at a decent price. By now I've had just about every taco combination on the menu and I can say that they do not disappoint. While I have my personal preference and I like some better than others I wouldn't ever turn down an order from this place.

They have a number of other choices on the menu besides tacos and a kids menu so it's a great place to have dinner out whether you're solo, a couple or a family. They have three distinct sections that are (1) a sit-down dining room, (2) a 'cafe-style' area with the open kitchen in back and (3) a bar where you can belly-up or sit at one of the tables and watch the game(s).

It's not a place like Moe's or Chipotle where you customize from a list of ingredients, it's more of a curated menu of tacos and burritos that go from the very basic (beef picadillo, shredded chicken, carnitas) to the eccentric (Korean brisket, jerk pork, cheesesteak) and plenty of vegetarian/vegan options so you'd be hard-pressed not to find something you like.

I've eaten in there enough times to see that the wings, nachos, salads and other menu items look as good as the tacos. They're not exactly street-taco-style creations and they're not quite like the chain burrito joints, they are the evolution of a food truck concept made by someone with a genuine love for the craft.

The decor is very basic, and but the tacos are very tasty and creative. I got 3 tacos, one mushroom, one fish, and one beef. The fish taco was very bland, but the mushroom and beef tacos were very tasty. Especially the beef

My meal also came with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were very fresh (and warm), but I was not the biggest fan of the salsa

The waiter was also not the most friendly or warm

Vegan and Vegetarian friendly! So many taco varieties... I had a sweet potato taco w coleslaw, avocado taco and bean/tomato/cheese taco. Absolutely delicious!!!
Would have given 5 stars but it is a bit "no frills"...no chips/salsa for the table and restaurant ambiance is kind of boring.

AMAZING FOOD and AMAZING SERVICE! Everyone is extremely friendly and approachable. The location is clean and extremely open.

This place is REALLY fun!!! I've only been once but I will definitely go back!!! My favorite taco was the shrimp one... it's unique and delicious.
The atmosphere is quirky and fun. A great place for a date night!

We enjoyed 2 chicken bierras (2 came in the order) that came with some guacamole AND chipotle broth. Never seen broth with taco in CT so you can imagine I was thrilled to have it here.

Fish taco could've done without. Pretty bland compared to the others

Ordered pork belly which my partner thought was too fatty. Imo it was perfect! The jerk pork was close to the heavens the chicken bierra brought me to. Jerk favors were pretty distinct.

Service was a spectrum- pretty good check ins. Our server got a few things wrong but nothing that was awful.

Not pictured- drinks! I had a margarita, skinny. It went down so smoothly and hit the spot! Cut nicely through the fatty flavors in the pork belly taco. Thank you bartender!

I'm so excited to talk about Lucky Taco. As with every place I go, I've heard really good things. However, I really didn't think this would live up to the hype. Let me tell you....it definitely did!!!

We started with margaritas (obviously). TBH I didn't know you could just get house tequila, so I legit googled "best cheap tequila for margarita" and went with that It was great! I went with strawberry which thankfully wasn't too sweet. They had a really extensive draft list so if you're not feeling tequila there are plenty of other options!

We started with one of their new apps which was a Queso Frito and INCREDIBLE!! It was more of a tapas size but perfect to share while we waited for friends to arrive. I knew what I wanted before I came in (does anyone else do this??) and decided on the Nashville Hot Chicken, Michelada, and Newport Chicken on corn tortillas. All were amazing and different! I loved how unique all their tacos are and the selection you could choose from!!! Blown away by how good they were. We of course had to finish with the churros which were some of the best I've ever had. Man I'm dreaming about it now Lucky Taco will definitely be a staple for us!!

Ordered the carnitas, kung pao tacos and a salad with chicken. Will never order from them again. Food was not good and very expensive.

Really nice bright and yet relaxing ambience in the bar area. They really hooked us up with the nachos, they were LOADED. A bunch of great brews on tap and nice staff. They also have trivia night on Tuesdays.
