I'm in Dallas for the week and my love for supporting small (especially micro small) businesses always lands me in the coolest and most surprising discoveries. I found this spot via a Yelp search while chasing down some authentic Southeast Asian food -- and boy oh boy, my fellow Yelpers did not disappoint.
For starters, this place is a hybrid of a market place and a low key restaurant with just a few tables in the back for onsite dining. The mini market side of the house offers spices, sauces, frozen items, noodles, cooking tools, etc. for any Southeast Asian dish you feel like whipping up at home. If I lived down the street, this would be my go-to market because I saw all of my kitchen and pantry essentials. The other side of the house is cooking up some Thai and Lao dishes that could only be done through generational recipes. More on that in a bit. This spot is basically part market and part take-out (or dine-in) for Thai and Lao cooking or food. Win-win if you ask me!
Now, on to the dishes I ordered. The menu is quite impressive considering it's not a full blown restaurant which tells me the chefs in the kitchen have it dialed in. I tried the Papaya Salad - Lao Style, Yellow Curry with Chicken which comes with a side of rice, and a Pad See Ew. I grew up eating Southeast Asian cuisine which means I know authenticity when I taste it, and let me tell y'all -- this was it. The dressing for the Papaya Salad absolutely hit the mark -- right hints of fish and shrimp paste, and thoughtfully tossed to perfection. The Pad See Ew had great char flavors from the wok, and was well seasoned. The Yellow Curry with Chicken was creamy from the coconut milk and the spice level checked the box. I only wish they had pineapple as I enjoy my curry most with pineapple chunks. Nonetheless, no complaints about anything I tried -- and the portion sizes were very generous so I ended up packing most of it to take back to the hotel.
Finally, this joint is family owned and operated. One of the owners came out of the kitchen to greet his guests who were dining in including me. He shared that they're originally from California and moved to Texas to pursue business opportunities. I'm very happy that this family continues to work hard to withstand competition and face the various hurdles of today's economy.
Love the concept. Food was excellent. Hospitality is like when I visit my Auntie or Uncle's home for dinner. I'm a forever fan.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0 - Lucy J.New York, NY02Apr 6, 2024
Most amazing Laos / Thai food! And the nicest staff. I left my bag here and they went above and beyond helping me get it back ! Great market too!
Thank you to them and make sure to get the larb! So goodHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shella C.Dallas, TX123019Jan 25, 2024
This is hands down the best Thai place in DFW. They have the most authentic beef larb and with tripe (optional).
I can also say the same about the papaya salad and offer it Lao or Thai style.
I've also had the pad thai and it is just as wonderful. The portions are large and it tastes like they used real tamarind.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Larry P.Dallas, TX26319Apr 27, 2024
Great food, great prices, nice people! Not much in the way of indoor seating but the quality of the food is worth it! We like the shrimp spring rolks, the Pad Kee Mow, the Pad Thai & the red curry.... L~

No Frills restaurant cashier was helpful with picking out foods.
I got the Pad see eww, level 5. fantastic and fresh.
Lad Na was something they recommended and it was fine. Light in flavor and the gravy was slimy as expected.
Tofu curry felt more spicy at level 4 then pad see eww, This was fairly good too!
Everything is fairly self service, grab utensils and togo boxes on your own. We were offered free bottled water when we went. I would go back if I was in the area hungry.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Noemi L.Dallas, TX021Apr 23, 2024
i never leave reviews, but this place is so amazing i had to sit down and let everyone know. The cashier that greets you is so nice and welcoming, he walks you down the menu if you need help ordering. I come here every Sunday and order the same thing every single time so they consider me a regular and actually know me now. The food is always hot and fresh and tastes amazing. I was hesitant on letting people know how great this place is because i wanted to gate keep and have it to myself but they deserve all the recognition in the world!

We had such a great lunch. We missed home food and this hit the spot, I think we screamed when we tried the hot and steamy kaopiek! It was the best.
Everything we tried was great! If you want a home cooked meal to satisfy your soul. Hit it up!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 20, 2023
Legit Thai/Laotian food! I get my usual at any Laotian restaurants. Short ribs, Lao sausage? Papaya salad, beef laarb and chicken wings. This place makes beef laarb with tripes and it's so freaking grooot!!! Order and pay at the front. Take a seat in the back and they bring your food out fast. This is an Asian grocery store not a full one and they have a restaurant inside too
