Mae Malai Thai House of Noodle is my number one Thai boat noodle in LA. The taste is original Thai boat noodle just like when i was in Thailand I would suggest if you come to Mea Malai please do not forget to order Thai coconut milk custard after finished thai boat noodle. It is a good combination.

Restaurant owner was very nice with a good service mind. The atmosphere was nice. I will come here again for sure HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED.

If you come to Mae Malai no worries about where's to park because Mae Malai located in avenue you can park there it is so convenience.

I loved the food, the service was friendly and fast and the restaurant, although small was clean, bright and cheery!

I hadn't had boat noodles before so that was definitely something i wanted to try, I couldn't get over how good it was. The waitress let us know that the portion size wasn't like a bowl of Vietnamese Pho so we knew to order other things. I ordered the Thai Sausages (which I have had before).

I definitely enjoyed the meal will be back when I go to Thai town!

Service is wonderful here. Place is small-ish and does get busy sometimes so it's not uncommon to see people waiting outside.

We got their infamous Thai Boat Noodles and the Thai omelette (which we could pass on). Recommend getting the Thai Boat Noodles for sure but only available in one size, which is small and priced at $8.49 a bowl. For a light eater, you'll need at least two bowls, which ends up being pretty pricey but nonetheless, worth a try as it's one of the best I've had.

Delicious order of crispy pork brocolli! I love how true to spices are happening here- I got a medium and it was still a good spicy hum - which is perfect for me but a little caution to those who think medium is mild.
The service is lovely and the food is fast and ready. I couldn't eat here (I had dogs with me) but excited to have a sit down next time.

We were pleasantly greeted by the staff the were sitting at a table and eating. There was a flat screen TV showing a muted Thai show and Thai music playing out of their sound system. If you don't see an open parking space, head to the underground parking. There are plenty of spaces along with EV charging and a car wash service.
Came here for early dinner take out. I'm on a self imposed strict HFLC diet so most of the dishes on the menu were a no except the Thai omelette with pork. It's a one and done for me. The egg was over cooked in old oil as it tasted like fried fish. There were no napkins added to the bag. My sister declined the flatware, not sure why but it didn't matter. The omelette was tough to cut with just a metal fork when I began eating it at home. I will give them kudos for their packaging of the food though. It's a small place. If you like boat noodles, come try this place.

When the noodles came out, I looked under the table because a significant portion of noodles were missing from the "large size." Imagine a bowl of pho, now take half the noodles out. Large to me means, I am STARVING and this bowl is going to fill me up. Large to me means, I'm going to have to take home left overs. This was definitely not a large since I finished it in 6 bites and was still hungry.

The flavors were great, but Tom Yum Noodle can be found all over thai town and Mae Malai's version for 15.95 will not fill you up. The Boat Noodle (8.49) comes in a small only. It's giving kids meal. It's giving famine. My friend who ordered it laughed when it came out. There was barely anything there.

We supplemented the meal with the Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork (18.95). Good texture, standard flavor, very necessary to fill our bellies. Extremely expensive, but cost of produce has gone up. But not very special.

Aside from the Daiso, I'm starting to understand that the restaurants in this plaza with tons of parking has to compensate for their rent. Whether inflation or shrinkflation, the custom has to fork up the costs. But down the street you can get the exact same thing for substantially larger portions and when you order a large it means, "dang, you hungry"

My husband loves this place and has gotten take out for us 3x. This was my first in person visit. Easy parking in the plaza, and the place was bright with plenty of seating. We got boat noodles medium spicy. The portion is smaller than most Thai restaurants and remind of the Thai street food portions in Thailand. Soup was super flavorful, and medium was spicy (and I eat pretty spicy) but within my tolerance level.

We also got tom yum, and this version is different from what I had at other Thai places. It was sweeter and had less of a lemongrass scent. Tom yum comes in a large size only, so my husband and I split this dish after our small bowls of boat noodles.

This was pretty filling, so 3 dishes is a good portion if you are hungry.

      Speechless!

Real deal Thai Boat Noodles Soup can be found here no need to travel to Thailand for it, come here and try it for yourself!

The owner's grandma has a noodle shop in Bangkok, Thailand that's been in operation for 60 yrs; and looks like her grandma's recipe is replicated here.

Mam (owner) and her sons are excited to finally open up this brick and mortar (known for Thai Boat Noodles Soup) not far from Silom Market where they first operated outdoors street-side.

This restaurant is newly open and naturally has some minor hiccups they need to fix: service is hit or miss as they are training new hires... portion size for boat noodles are SMALL (two bites)...bummer!

Other items on their menu are Regular sized portions; just the "boat noodles" are small.

In Thailand boat noodle portions in general are served in the way of "small bowls", it's not uncommon to see folks in Thailand with multiple bowls of noodles stacked up;however, here in LA that same concept (small portion noodles) might not be received well where size matters; hence, the low Yelp stars from other patrons.

Smaller Portion size on boat noodles are fun to eat and may be traditional, but perhaps the option to choose your bowl size might be better for business(?).

Personally I don't mind the smaller bowl, only because Mae Malai's restaurant serves the BEST of the BEST Thai Boat Noodle Soup in LA and possibly outside of Thailand!

      -Card/Cash accepted.
      - Parking is plentiful in a plaza shared with other businesses (Ralph's/Ross/Daiso).

We saw this little spot while shopping and came back to try it. We ordered a bunch of things.

The staff were so pleasantly welcoming. I got mistaken for Thai so they spoke in their language. Very common for me. I'm mixed Asian so I look like I'm possibly Thai or Nepalese or sometimes Korean. No problem! Switched to English and all good to go.

We had a family style dinner: Pad Thai. Pad seew. Fried pork with Chinese broccoli. Boat noodles. All were deliciously fantastic. The pad Thai is not your usual orangey sweet concoction. It was authenticaly tasty. And the boat noodles clearly marked as small is not an American small portion. If you're considering it as the only thing for your meal I suggest the larger order. It's small but full of flavor. Also super spicy. Try to ask for it to be milder for the local palate folks.

We also got the pandan dessert. It's delicious. It is small so order a couple if you're not full and need a more sizeable sweet ending to your meal.

Highly recommended. Try. It's pretty dang good!
