Great doctor with years of experience She is open minded and has educated herself on all the newest healing modalities to help her patients avoid surgery. " first do no harm." She is humble, and will tell you if she thinks she's capable of doing something or not which I really appreciate. I had exosome therapy and I can walk again and I avoided having my fourth knee surgery,. Most orthopedic surgeons want to cut . I am doing prp tomoorow and I'm going to do everything possible to avoid shoulder surgery. my knee has already healed and I avoided knee surgery three months ago by having an injection of exosomes.. if I can be helped with all the broken bones and pain I have , so can you!

Unsure of the negative reviews that seem to be unfairly written on Dr Chakerian but my experience with her has been nothing but positive, deep level of support and encouragement in not being defeated by health issues that have hit me from multiple different angles. This doctor is incredibly knowledgeable while being brilliant with knowing what medication works best for that patient. I hope anyone reading these reviews will be open minded and not judge this amazing doctor as she can be a mother, friend, sister, daughter to others. Be respectful please!

I am writing this review, not as a patient, but as the sister of a patient. After many years of my sister's ongoing pain management issues, I am so frustrated by the apparent incompetence of Dr. Chakerian. Not only does she presecribe a crazy amount of addictive pain medications, but then she has the gall to tell me she is not an "addiction specialist!" So, she prescribes highly addictive drugs liberally without knowing the long term and extremely detrimental effect these drugs will have on her patients? Shame on you, Dr. Chakerian. I believe that the good reviews come from people that are happy about how liberally you prescribe drugs for them . . . my opinion only, of course. I hope you are truly helping them, and not doing what you have done to my sister. Saddened by the outcome of this unprofessional doctor. Use extreme caution.

Dr. Chakerian is a truly helpful and empathetic professional. We have been to other pain management specialists to help manage chronic pelvic pain. Dr. Chakerian has gone above and beyond all the rest.

I appreciate her thoughtfulness and thorough medical knowledge as well as her ability tailor my pain management plan depending on the situation.

I just read the reviews below and am so saddened.I have been a patient of Dr. Chakerian for over 10 years for chronic pain. During that time, not only has she treated my pain effectively, she has assisted me in trying to determine the cause of my pain through lengthy discussions and referrals to specialists. She listens to me!!! At every appointment we explore treatments such as epidurals or new medications for my worsening and crippling unknown condition. I am absolutely convinced I would be bedridden by now if not for her. If unable to work, I would lose my home and more.

Yes she can run late, but each time I see it's because she has spent extra time with the patient before me. I know others have waited because of me. She listens intently and I never feel rushed by the clock. I am willing to wait my turn for that kind of care.

Each year it seems that there are more rules and regulations from the government she must abide by that seem to eat up more and more time in the appointment. Medical rules for pain management have gone crazy! Certainly not her fault and we both stay patient. I still feel at the end of the day that proper time was spent with me and all of my needs and worries have been addressed.

I highly recommend her without any reservation. I am so grateful for the wonderful care she gives to me.

Dr. Chakerian is a good pain doctor, who is very professional. She has treated me for a nerve condition in my pelvis called Pudendal Neuralgia. She always listens and seeks to help me with pain and discomfort due to this condition. I would not have had the quality of life that I enjoy now without her assistance.

On 07-02-13, I went to Dr Chakerian to treat my costochondritis. When I met the
nurse, she was asking me, about medications that I was taking almost a year ago. I wasted at least 45 minutes, to giving her the same answer for each medication, like "I have discontinued these pills long time ago". The reason was, that her office had been searching and retrieving my medical records, for two weeks and most of the information they had was obsolete. Of course I wasted my time also writing my personal medical information on 20 pages, that nobody did read.

When I met Dr Chakerian later and told her that I have pain in my left ribs, close to
my sternum (costochondritis), she proceeded to check my chest close to my armpit and she diagnosed me with Intercostal Nerve Pain. She never mentioned if she is capable of treating costochondritis.

I went along with her diagnosis and six days later Dr Chakerian, performed the
operation (Intercostal Nerve Block). Before they put me to sleep, I requested from her to give me a cortisone injection next to my sternum as well, because I believed that with one visit to the operating table, I could get rid of two pains at the same time, and she did. Since she never mention another appointment for the costochondritis (treatment or operation).

After I went home, I started feeling pain in my sternum like someone had shot me
with an arrow and it got stuck there. Meanwhile the Intercostal Nerve block procedure, eliminated the pain close to my armpit, but I felt very tired for the next two days and by the third, I asked a day off from my employer to recover. The next day (Friday). I managed to go to work with pain pills and by Saturday morning on 07-13-13, I could not get up from the bed from exhaustion. My lady friend drove me to the Emergency, at the El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos, because I could not function. They diagnosed me with dyspnea and they took x-rays they were afraid, Dr Chakerian had punctured my lungs. Fortunately it was not the case and they eliminated the possibility of pneumothorax or of pulmonary edema. After some more blood tests they gave me, few Ativan pills to calm down and they prescribed Tramadol (for muscle pain) and Ambien (for insomnia).

When I came to the follow up appointment on 07-16-13, I went to the counter to
pay my co-payment to Michelle (secretary). I was standing there for few minutes
without turning her eyes from the papers to look at me. Then I decided to sit down on the couch and immediately, she called me to pay her. I have been hazed in the army, but I did not expect from a secretary of a doctors office, to get this rude treatment. Should I mention, that she makes you feel uncomfortable when you sense her negative vibes?

Then I met Dr Chakerian. I told her that, because of your operation I ended up to the Emergency from exhaustion. I asked her if she had put too much cortisone in my body, she said that if that was the case, I should be more active the next days. I mentioned also that the injection in my sternum, not only gave me a stabbing pain the next days, but I still needed treatment. Anyway she never explained what she did to me, but she agreed that she would take care the carpal tunnel syndrome in my left wrist in the near future.

When I decided to call Dr Chakerian's office to treat my carpal tunnel syndrome as she had promised me. Michelle answered the phone and she told me that their computers are down and she can not schedule an appointment, but she will
call me Monday. I could not help it, but to start laughing about "the computers are
down" from a small practice of three women. Of course Monday she did not call me and a few days later, I called her and her answer was "Dr Chakerian does not want to see you again because you went to see another Doctor". But I said, she agreed to treat my carpal tunnel syndrome. Her answer again was "The doctor does not want to see you again the rest of her life". I guess someone from that Doctor's office notified her that I was getting treatments there. It seems that revenge was inevitable. Then I told her, that I did not know that I was Dr Chakerian's property. May be she thinks that she owns me.

In my eyes she failed. Incompetence is the appropriate word, for her office. The fact that I lost her professional trust, and I ended up paying out of my hard earned money $4.900.00 to another Doctor (who did not accept my insurance) for different procedures is the real proof.

This 5 star reviewer (nurse & Dr Chakerian's friend) deserves an OSCAR for her generalities. I doubt if she has ever crossed dr's clinic door. Of course, if she is doing it for the money she is excellent writer

I am a medical professional and am "in the know" about who are the best doctors to see for my own medical conditions. I have found Dr Chakerian ( and her office staff ) to be welcoming and competent. I am very happy to know that she abides by the high ethical and moral standards expected by her profession. She is very warm and an excellent clinician. She has the very difficult task of treating some chronic pain patients who may also have a high psychological component to their pain so of course, as in the case of some previous Yelp comments, they are the ones to complain. I, myself, am very happy with my treatment. Unfortunately sometimes the ones with hidden agendas are the ones to post on this site. And no, I am NOT one of her colleagues. It's good to give positive feedback when it's due!
